WWE General Discussion - December 2008
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
It was mentioned in the 30 Rock thread, though. Not knowing when this episode was filmed, it's possible Foley was part of WWE at the time (and thus part of the NBC Universal family) so yeah, WWE General Discussion works. Also, I'll be out of town this weekend, so you guys are all on your own for starting show topics, and they won't be pinned unless 909 is around. I trust all of you to not start discussions which warrant a thread in General Discussion in my absence, and be cool to one another. Thanks! -
That's basically how DVD's are going these days, all 'Earth friendly' and what not. SummerSlam Anthology (and Simpsons: Season 11) are the same way.
-
Well the thing is, to me, this thread is basically my on-call pager. I can't really do anything about "889".
-
I thought these were pretty funny. Good job, oldskool. Me too, and I was hoping someone would do it. "K. Angle Of The Year" was not a coincidental letter / category placement.

South Park - My Future Self and Me (or is it Me and My Future Self?)

I had a hearty laugh at the Dwight talking head about the Schrute way of taking care of things. I don't even remember what they were, but the fact he held a fist, then counted 5 items but actually ended with punching was gold. The "Are you an Alcoholic" checklist ending with the Mormon church question was great too, and Toby / Darryl's interaction was priceless. "It's... even better than what I wanted". Creed casually throwing out he would have a city permit in an hour (and piquing Dwight's interest) was the classic "Creed says one thing, and it's funny" moment. Plus the bong.

Yeah apparently when Foley debuted in TNA, Tenay pointed out he was wearing a t-shirt "soon to appear in the hit television series 30 Rock", so I've been waiting for it. I enjoyed Liz assuming the black Santa's would rap. Ted Logan's dad (as seen on Earl) sure looks old these days.

What the fuck are any of you talking about now?
-
I sure do! But that's because they're good ideas, right? I was thinking of the awards one before though.

Creat a folder for all the drafts
DrVenkman PhD replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Site Feedback
I was moderately happy with how the acronym SLAM-E turned out. -
I made that with the intent of it getting into the Year End initiative, which I support. I didn't want it just reflecting WWE.
-
A few tell tale signs I did this at work, near the end of my shift while tired - I completely missed a letter (there was no missing category, I just began matching the WORST OF letters with the BEST OF, even though "Worst" has a consolidated category and thus is a letter short). As Spiff pointed out, I also made an acronym that didn't work. If any previous ballots want to edit their posts to fix the bad lettering, you can (it will make tabulating the vote easier), but don't feel obligated to fix my mistake.
-
Yeah it doesn't even work - you can see why it was not used.

http://forums.thesmartmarks.com/index.php?showtopic=93111 for those of you who never frequent the WWE folder and would have no idea about this new Year End Awards initiative, that's the link.

Jobs w/ Highest Amount of Douchebags
DrVenkman PhD replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in No Holds Barred
Are the sandwich artists trained to never guess / assume what a customer wants? For a period in 2006 I was going to the same Subway around the same time every Monday, getting the same basic sub (tuna on honey oat), always toasted, etc. Not once did she ever greet me like I was a regular or say "tuna today?" or anything. I always found it a bit odd. One time a friend and I went to the Subway near the local university but the douchebag student on shift claimed they were closed while he studied. -
I heard Max and Joel's characters will be reduced to 'merry mischief makers' who sell fireworks when they have the earlier slot.
-
I think the last anyone heard he was hospitalized, then a rumour that he was near death made the rounds but I don't think there was anything behind it.

It becomes not-that-tough-but-still-really-hard when you adjust to it (as in, get used to the timed jumps and realize that the first few times you play a level you should concentrate on collecting bolts so you can buy E-tanks), but then I tried playing as Protoman a few weeks ago and it's harder than ever. I still haven't beat the fortress levels either.
-
Amen to that. Anyway I'm sure we've all read about the poor transfer to standard DVD that was done (along with the missing extras that only Blu-Ray snobs get) just to ensure more Blu-Ray sales. Has anyone else noticed the transfer issues that were complained about, or we the people who got review copies just looking too hard?
-
All they need is to use archived recordings of "WILL YOU STOP / BE SERIOUS!" and we're set.

Not always. I've never worked at a mall (though I knew some people that did and they seemed ok) but in my experience, while you have the guards who think this is their big ticket into the police force and act like douches when they really have no authority, the majority realize this is a run out the clock and collect a cheque situation. In any security job I've had, I've revelled in the fact that anything that got too dicey required a call to the police, and once people with REAL authority showed up, I could go back to unlocking doors for building staff. -
I read that roster in WON but since Meltzer only gets video game news from already printed sources, I was trying to figure out where it came from. That story also contains one of my biggest issues with news sites that just get their news from other sites: They took a TWO SENTENCE blurb from this week's WON and turned it into a multi-paragraph story and credited the whole thing as a WON story, though this particular story isn't that bad and acknowledges the bottom of the story was previously reported.

No. Second place behind Beth, the greatest of all the times.

"They" meaning PRISM or 24/7?

Does Mick Foley count? A lot of people have called him God.
