Well you can't edit out what doesn't happen anymore.

Live Free Or Die Hard (Die Hard 4) trailer
DrVenkman PhD replied to Epic Reine's topic in Television & Film
He's decided to take over where Vanhalen left off. He recently bumped a thread from 2005 about the Mega Man X collection to declare "I can't beat MMX3". -
It's actually a pretty good special effect for the time. In contrast, Paul Bearer's wedding album is just clearly an empty book with forzen video captures superimposed on the television screen - that's a bad effect. There's a really bad green screen on the first Flair DVD where Jim Herd and Jim Ross are "in the control center", but when the camera zooms in on Herd, all of the TVs in the background move with the zoom.

The January 98 promo from Nitro featuring Flair and Bret is amazing stuff. The one where Mean Gene is in his dressing room (and Flair is decked out in a sweater, which seems like an odd visual) and Flair starts the Liz angle en route to Mania VIII is good stuff too.
-
I like how they replaced the Hulk Hogan Hotline number with a 24/7 info line (1-888-699-9324) which is kind of redundant for subscribers. Looks better than blurring it, though.

Well, they DID have ownership in Zubaz pants. Also mentioned on the show is "Jim Neidhart's return to the ring after being driven out of the broadcast booth by Bobby Heenan". I began watching wrestling shortly after Mania VII and don't recall this at all. Anytime we get to see the Savage/Liz reception is good times in my book. JJ Dillon is there!

I'm just joking around.

Maybe that means more Helms / Hardy matches. I'll never forget the beginning of this one match they had on SmackDown where helms turned his pre-match turnbuckle pose into a missile dropkick. It was great.

WWE General Discussion - September 2008
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in The WWE Folder
Yeah, I also couldn't resist that but for some reason I thought I had the line wrong and edited it out of my post. Has anyone accused Haas of being the dude pretending to be the dude that's pretending to be the other dude yet? -

Maybe Jesse and Festus wheel him out to a shiiping box labeled 'FCW'. -

It's in the ECW thread. Kind of sounds like a technical glitch but we'll see. -
WWE General Discussion - September 2008

It's interesting to watch the LHW Division's origins on Raw on 24/7 because they'd have guys like El Pantera do a completely different style of match than anything on the show, be awesome, then never be seen again. -
I'm glad you managed to fit in an "I hate Shawn Michaels" post into a thread about a 1996 WCW PPV, cabbageboy. If you can find a way to bring up why Randy Orton is awful in the NWA thread, we're all set.

He was ashamed wrestling fan in disguise. That's all we need to know about his thoughts on anything.

Makes sense. I thought the days of losing large ratings due to football were over (5.3 to 4.5, sure, but those people are all gone) but I know big football games still take a bite.
-
The rating was back to 3.0, so either that .5 increase that was going on during Punk's reign was JUST for him, or football cut the rating down.

F4W~! - September 9, 2008: Contracts: While the Torch version of this story made it sound like Kim all but changed her mind and came apologeticly "came home" to TNA, it still seems like they won't give her the money she wants for financial security at her age (as a women's wrestlers, 32 is 'getting up there') and will likely still go to WWE. TNA COULD match the offer, but it would set an unwanted payscale precedent. Team 3D did re-sign and it is believed they are under contract until 2010. Nash still wants a WWE deal but Bryan can't imagine WWE offering him a contract he'd want for the amount of work he won't be doing. Christian's future is seemingly up to WWE at this point - as noted last week, he'd be a good fit in the 'new' (read: drug tested) WWE but the ball is in their court on whether or not they pony up a money offer for him to take. As is well known by now, Foley is officially signed for a short-term deal with TNA. Other Notes: - Bruno Sammartino recorded a sit-down interview for an upcoming Kurt Angle DVD [didn't I mention this last week?]. Bryan finds this unusual as Bruno is very anti-steroid and Kurt Angle is very much Kurt Angle. - As expected, several people e-mail Bryan to inform him it is video game store policy to tell people to pre-order a game. So... maybe the Observer will have more interesting TNA news.

We could just ask Bix.

F4W~! - September 9, 2008: Chris A. Jericho - World Wrestling Champion: The idea for Jericho to leave Unforgiven with the title was cooking for at least a few weeks, but he was just one of many ideas being thrown about (including Punk retaining or Edge winning the title). It is expected once the Jericho/Punk mini-feud wraps up, Michaels will be in mix again (he is at home healing his tricep injury - yeah, it's not as bad as first thought, but it's still an injury). Secret Origins: Back in 2006, Court Bauer, Alex Greenfield, and Dusty Rhodes presented the idea to Vince with the name "Six Man Scramble" (which, indeed, did originate from Court playing some Fire Pro) along with "Sudden Death Six-Way" or "Six Pack Challenge" [Note from Venkman: That seems quite dubious considering the Six Pack Challenge was introduced in 1999 at Unforgiven with sudden death rules]. It was expected to be promoted in conjunction with UPN becoming The CW. Somewhere in there Vince decided Crossdressing Vito was where the real money and ratings were at and decided to nix the Scramble and book Vito challenging King Booker for the world title (until he was convinced this was not a good idea). The Scramble concept debuted at Vengeance 2007 aka Night of Champions [or as Bryan insists on calling it, Night of THE Champions - also, this theory once again seems to disregard this match already existing 8 years prior in WWE] and was given all the zany rules this year by Pat Patterson. Other pieces of business: - Edge has "a screwed up knee" that is making his current time off necessary. - The gap between MNTV and CW is closing and it's currently expected SmackDown's jump to MNTV could be HUGE for that network. CW killing huge. - Even though last week's thread had a report about McMahon banning Foley from the Legends of WrestleMania game, the last word on their parting is that it was "amicable". - Despite some Torch shenanigans last week, it is still largely expected that Gail Kim will sign with WWE and not TNA. Nash still wants in but it is not expected WWE will give him the money he wants to do so little. Bryan figures if WWE throws a good money offer at Christian, he'll sign.

Old threads from before April 9, 2008? Ok then. Here's something I saw while looking at which threads had the most views: Best Unintentional Comedy

Breaking news: Wrestler booked to lose match and title by storyline writers. MEMBERS ONLY. I believe Meltz mentioned on last night's audio update the Jericho win had been cooking for a week or so (but just one of many ideas).

Monsoon never fails to mention Heenan "selling Hercules down the river" no matter what year or face/heel alignment Herc has. I love it everytime.

I almost thought Boogeyman was coming out for a match with Santino. The opening note to Snitsky's music is very similar. Umaga is injured (and on SmackDown) but should be back shortly.

I don't know what's going on, but that was quite possibly the worst Mickie James match since her debut feud with Ashley. Everything was way off and Beth didn't even need to use a finisher to beat her. Lawler or Cole made a note that she was FINALLY getting a rematch - kind of pointing out she apparently wasn't important enough to get one on the Raw after SummerSlam - and with the match with Candace already announced, the result was never in doubt. The crowd seemed very disinterested in the show (but oddly popped pretty big for the announcement that another town was getting a world title match) but I was happy they got into the hour 1 main event. I was ready to call the bookers incredibly incompetent if the finish to that match was anything short of Bourne hitting his picture perfect SSP in front of the Raw viewing audience and thankfully they did the right thing. When Haas was locked in the trunk, I almost thought he would come out as Chief of Staff Orlando Jordan. Probably best they did CHL instead.
