WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I suppose there's no reason they can't do both ala movie channels. The idea is to have a vehicle for their first run TV if and when the time comes they need to do so (I think that will be a disastrous day, but we'll see). I suspect they would cycle the weeks programming the same way cable channels now cycle programming in a loop, but your Raw and SmackDown would air first run on a Monday and Thursday/Friday and show up OD later. -
Discussion: WWE Scramblemania~!
DrVenkman PhD replied to Hunter's Torn Quad's topic in The WWE Folder
Multi-man matches seem to be No-DQ by default (though sometimes they make a big deal out of announcing a triple threat to be no DQ). I do recall a DQ in a Rock/HHH/X-Pac match though. Probably best not to consider that possibility, though I could totally see them not saying a word about it at all and then making it a cheap out. In fact, I now see the ECW scramble ending with Matt Hardy wining a fall by DQ, thinking he's the champion when 20 minutes is up, then having Tony Chimmel announce "STILL ECW champion... Heel Wrestler!" (I don't think Henry will retain). -
No and yes.

So where is "College"?

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread
DrVenkman PhD replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in No Holds Barred
Summer birthdays also don't get recognized via a school certificate or PA announcement. This sort of thing doesn't matter in real life but I also recall people with September - December birthdays were, well, not "looked down" on but kidded in some way about the fact they were technically younger than those of us with January-June birthdays for the school year. -
Not to mention I was trying to point out I would have been a terrible booker.
-
Nope. With the exception of every single person to ever write a house show or TV taping dark match report, Dave Meltzer, Bryan Alvarez, and probably every website that had someone review the show, you are the first to point this out. To be a bit more educational and a bit less sarcastic, I believe Mr. Killings owns the rights to the song.

The OAO TSM "Happy Birthday, you!" Thread

Happy Birthday to MillenniumMan! I totally blame him for that Hedberg debacle, but it's because of him I allowed them to have their fun. -
I think I was a few years ahead of my time at Mania XII because I had thought a "great idea" would be since "everyone" (the people who knew Nash was leaving) knew Diesel had no chance of beating Undertaker on his way out, he SHOULD win just to fool everyone. Undertaker could then beat him on free TV to pop a good rating against Nitro. So yes, apparently in 1996 I thought exactly the same way Vince Russo would years later.

It was like that on the DVD, but I agree.

Regarding that plan I had to merge the spoiler and real show threads, I realize I can't start that this week due to ECW spoilers for this coming Tuesday existing in the spoiler thread. It's a minor plan anyway.

WWE 24/7 Classics OnDemand General Discussion

A broadcast channel may work fine (I have a DVR so no problem) but I like the VOD format right now. I don't want them to change it anytime soon, especially if they had to re-clear all the licencing agreements with cable companies. I can't believe I missed that Observer note, although I haven't read it in depth yet. Just the contract stuff and some small notes. Or is it from this week's second issue? -
On the subject of tag teams in 1995, I was watching SummerSlam 95 the other day and for the life of me could not figure out why they putt Gunns vs Blus on the card. Was it to showcase the hot new heel duo of Eli and Jacob? No, they already jobbed in the WrestleMania XI opener. Was it to give the Smoking Gunns a big win? Not really, they'd been on the roster since 1992 and were always pushed. Was it to settle a score? I don't believe these teams had any issue before or after this match. So, really, why not just book Owen/Yokozuna vs The Smoking Gunns in the Gunns big rematch from Mania XI? Instead, it was a pointless tag match that went nowhere and Owen's only appearance was getting giddy over the prospect of being in a World/IC title match the next month on PPV (which Todd Pettengill interpreted as "the tag champs being unhappy" - good work, Todd). I also caught that Fatu thing and was quite amused by it.

I became quite sad that I recognized the bar tender as one of the dad characters from "Ready or Not". I had not noticed this in any previous viewing of the movie.

Does COMMISSIONERHBK9 (what happened to COMMISSIONERHBK 1 - 8, I wonder?) not get birthday well wishes? -
Well, considering there were 10 posts about the "real" subject and 35 about Mitch Hedberg, getting back on track may have been difficult. Don't expect this "one person bitches so Heaven and Earth gets moved" shit in the future either - more people seemed to enjoy dicking around and having fun than discussing a jobber's role to prominence before his bodyguard becomes the real focal point, and fun is what it's all about. However, I was worried this will become an ongoing runner that may sully the upcomingUnforgiven thread (I don't think we need a reminder about "The SummerSlam games" fiasco), so I did something.

Please continue, Porter. The shenanigans won't get in your way now.

Comparing The Brian Kendrick to Mitch Hedberg
DrVenkman PhD replied to MarvinisaLunatic's topic in The WWE Folder
Here's the ruling, kids. ONE GUY complaining about SEVERAL PEOPLE having a good time is generally not the kind of thing I or other mods should make a big ruling about. This is the internet for Christ's sake. This is not the first time or the last time a thread on TSM will veer off course with a running joke and some very funny threads were created that way. One of my favourite threads in TSM history started because someone mistakenly posted something about "NES Classics" in the WWE folder. But here's the thing - there was a good point made. If people wanted to continue a legitimate discussion about the future of The Brian Kendrick, it's kind of hard to pick up and continue said conversation after 30 joke posts. Likewise, I became a bit concerned the Unforgiven would become 4 pages of PPV discussion and 3 pages of Mitch Hedberg references... I'd prefer that DOESN'T happen. Ditto for SmackDown threads. I don't want to ruin anyone's fun and though this pretty much has nothing to do with anything at this point, I'll leave it here for you guys to go nuts. Just show some restraint in the "real" threads, k? -
It's my 1st day.

I did give people a place to get that out of their system. Well, technically MVP did and they just ran wild so I re-named the thread.

WWE.com SmackDown preview: I'm going to try something different though I don't imagine it will have a huge effect on things. For whatever reason, a lot of small things annoy me that really shouldn't annoy people at all - one of them is when I click on the WWE folder on, say, a Saturday afternoon and the SmackDown Spoiler thread has a new post. What the hell, the show already aired! Of course, this is often because some sort of conversation was going on in there that was continued, so here's the deal: At some point on Saturday, I'll be merging the two threads to form the SmackDown discussion thread. Like I said, I expect this change to have minimal ramifications on anything since SD! is often not a hot button topic, but it's an experiment of sorts.

I think it was on Volume 4 if it's the one I'm thinking of, and I know he used it a few times, but afterwards it was always Edge's music until the split. I didn't really like that theme. But while searching for the theme I'm thinking of, I found this, which I don't recall ever hearing (and it's pretty cool): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1SgHcsHiWE This would be the one I was thinking of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZINUb8EUno

I believe the storyline for the game was also written by Vince Russo:
