  1. I would think he's upset about the Kane/Taker thing, because someone, whether it was Taker himself or Vince's direction, had Taker do an interview circuit denying any plans ever to use an old gimmick or feud with Kane. That doesn't change the fact they've been building the match since Survivor Series.
  2. So, I guess the arena webpage wouldn't help out much either.
  3. Hopefully the bar I go isn't cracked down on. Hey, they have a stained glass window of the old school WWF logo, that seems like an official viewing area, doesn't it?
  4. interesting if true. Eric Sclueejkfhwkdiweski alway simplies Hurricane is gay. I don't care, he rocks anyway.
  5. I like how he noted he and Helms were there with "their girls", then noted Shannon was also there. Since Matt's girl is Lita, I can only assume Hurricane's girl is Moore. They are gay, right?
  6. I downloaded them all from NoDQ.com (it appears they are now gone) and as expected they all suck, except Angle's which is very catchy, and Cena's which is just his theme. To be fair, I only listened to the other tracks for about 30 seconds, but it seems all 5 of Austin's tracks are just him talking.
  7. IF you read his blog, you'll note he admits right off the bat he probably over rated the match, but feels he can get away with it because Keller overrated the Iron Man match (ignoring the fact he did, too). If someone said this before, sorry, but I stopped reading 2 1/2 pages in. I held off writing my annual Year End column on the off chance this match might have deserved to be mentioned in it (although I could have added it in later...), and it was a good thing I did. But now I'm busy today and might end up writing nothing today...
  8. WWF Royal Rumble is a bit of a toss up... on the SNES, you have Ric Flair, but on the Genesis you have Rick Martel and Hulk Hogan (among other character swaps). I did like the ablity to be Hogan when the game finally came out for Genesis and was rented at my Genesis owning friend's house (I never owned the SNES version, apparently $102 Canadian was a bit much to spend on a game.. got Raw though).
  9. Actually that was the cover I meant to post the first time. I found it yesterday and only remembered the hilarious face, so I thought I found the same one again.
  10. Old Magazine Site has some magazines for sale with covers that will either remind you of the old days or give you a good laugh at how things turned out. Some are also just plain silly. This an example of a good one And this one made me laugh If this has been brought up before, sorry.
  11. Let's see how long it takes me to get pissed that this link doesn't apply to Canadians... 3 seconds!
  12. As shitty as it is, I have to credit the Sailor Moon dub of 95 to getting me interested in anime. That led to watching the DB / DBZ dub that year, and my friends and I were hooked. I've since educated myself that all of those dubs were awful, but when I see them on TV it brings back nostalgic memories. I generally hate admitting the Moon part, but I genuinely like the show (still watch the last movie every now and then). DBZ, again, is another case where every hardcore anime fan on earth tells me how much it sucks, but I like it, and like it even more since I switched over to the Japanese version via DVD a few years ago. I've been watching Dragonball on YTV lately.. it's a different dub then the US (done by Blue Water / Ocean, not Funimation) and it started out good, even calling Goku 'Son Goku', but there's been a lot of Funimation style 'referencing places that exist on our Earth' problems as of late. Still, it seems like a good dub overall and a fun show. I'm pretty mainstream when it comes to anime, and have taken up watching the Inu Yasha dub this year after watching it with a friend, and I love it. Outside of the 'mainstream box', I did watch the Excel Saga series on DVD this year and was throughly amused, and managed to rent a few volumes of Berzerk from the video store as well.
  13. Ok, so I was watching the Barry stuff today... the match, which I've never seen, was great, but that wasn't the most amusing part for me. The music used in the intro chapter is the same music that is used for 30 minute Sex Line infomercials that air here late at night.
  14. I've been watching EP since it started in the late 90s (1997ish I think). It must have picked up a cult following at some point because it went from being cancelled and rescheduled every 3 months to dropping the reviews part of the show and spinning it off into a whole 30 minute program of it's own. I used to talk with Zoe Flower (original producer / Token Female that Julie Stoffer now is) via e-mail.
  15. As usual Downhome is the voice of reason when everyone finds something to bitch and moan about.
  16. deancoles411, your Real Liontamer picture rules because it has Marty Jannetty in it. I would have liked to seen that match.
  17. Hey Rico, are you getting the 2003 collectors box too? I figued, especially with some of this year's PPVs, I'd be the only one here to do that.
  18. Damnit I forgot to mention HHH ripping on Roddy Hogan (or a resonable facsimile).
  19. WWE House Show (Raw) - November 21, 2003 The attendance was not very good. The entire upper deck was blocked off and the corners of the lower bowl were empty. Opening Match/Segment: Hurricane/Rosey def. Dreamer/Brawler: Coach opened the show by promoting local radio station WRIF, free shirts, and a contest that people who purchased Programs were eligible for. He remained the ring announcer for the entire show. Coach, surprisingly, had a lot of heat (although we appeared to be in a 'heel section', as we and others around us tried a 'Coach! Coach! Coach!' chant). He welcomed the man who made the show possible, the only Raw GM, Eric Bischoff. Eric said Bubba Dudley was suspended, so D-Von would be able to pick a partner of his choice for later in the show, and ran his mouth until Hurricane interupted. Brooklyn Brawler came out and attacked Hurricane, but Tommy Dreamer made the save with the Kendo stick.. but then turned. It was a 2 on 1 handicap match until Rosey made the save. Hurricane pinned Brawler with the Shining Wizard, but Bischoff and Coach complained of cheating. Originally, this was scheduled to be Hurricane vs. Brawler and Dreamer vs Rosey. La Resistance ran in, followed by Jindrak and Cade for the save, leading to.. Match #2: Jindrak/Cade def. La Resistance: Dupree called us "Detroit retards". Energetic effort, the green team won with their Dropkick/Spinebuster combo. Highlight was people in our section (self included) loudly chanting "Dance! Dance! Dance!" at Dupree. He did a move much like the people's elbow where he lowered his knee pad while stnading above Cade's head, then did THE DANCE~! much to our amusement, then dropped the knee. He had a huge grin on his face while doing it, seemingly enjoying our support. Match #3: Mark Henry (/w Theodore Long) def. Val Venis. Pre-match, Long noted the lack of black players for the Red Wings, and noted the only the puck was black, with whitey attacking it. Hockeytown should be known as "Honkytown". Mid match, Val got the mic to say a girl Teddy was arguing with could kick his ass. Val worked hard. Finish was Val missing the Money Shot and Henry doing his powerslam. Post match, Henry wiped himself with Val's towel and threw it on Venis. Val then gave it away to an excited young woman, who apparently forgot what Henry did with it. Coach called a guy in an Evolution shirt the biggest idiot in Detroit for wanting the towel and kiss from Val, with his only saving grace being his coice of shirt. Match #4: Lita/Christian def. Matt Hardy/Molly Holly. Highlight for us was being in the 5th row while Molly was being over in her nice outfit there. Christian managed to play the face and heel (he shoved Molly to the ground in a heel manner, for example) at the same time. Lita got the win wit a DDT on Molly. Post match, Coach interviews Lita. Jazz attacks, but Lita fights her off with another DDT and slaps Coach. Match #5: Chris Jericho def. Maven. Coach acknowleged our sections "Y2J" chants by smirking and giving the thumbs up. Jericho, on the other hand, ranted about people saying he either sucked or was an asshole. Finish was Jericho low blowing Maven and making him tap in the Walls of Jericho after an earlier attempt led to a rope break. Match #6: D-Von Dudley/Hurricane (fighting for The Dudley Boyz) def. Scott Steiner and Test to retain the World Tag titles. This was annoucned as No DQ, but that only played into the finish when Hurricane and D-Von put Test through a table to pin him. Crowd chanted "We Want Stacy". Mid match, D-Von got the mic to say some fan in the front row could kick Steiner's ass. Test was cut open on his abs after the table spot. Post match, Rosey, Hurricane, and D-Von surveyed the crowd for who best deserved a piece of table thrown to them, but elected to give it to a child and pose in the ring with him to a nice pop. Everyone looked happy here. Match #7: RVD def Kane by DQ (Chair shot). Very short match. Kane missed his clothesline, got a chair, Rob Van Daminated him. Kane ended up getting the chair again and hitting RVD. Lots of boos. Match #8: Booker T/Goldberg def. HHH/Randy Orton/Batista. We came very close to being hit by HHH's water bottle. Evolution was going to leave, but Booker and Goldberg convcined them to return. The match was built around Goldberg getting the tag, cleaning house, doing a spear on two people at once (HHH and Orton), then Jackhammered Orton for the win. Good heat for the match. Not great work, but people were into it. HHH was in there a lot more than I expected and even sold for both men. After the match, Booker T promised us the first ever Goldbergaroonie, which was not bad. Big pops. They shook hands with everyone who ran up to the front afterwards. A fun show overall, though not all the work was great. Most wrestlers really looked to be enjoying themsevles (most noticeabley Dupree and Rosey) and many people could be seen noticeably smiling and holding back chuckles during the show despite the low attendance. 20. This DVD is the best now, but it will clearly be replaced very soon by 'The Undertaker: He Buries Them Alive'. Classic matches include vs Kawng, vs Jim Neidhart, vs Yokozuna, vs. Jerry Lawler, and of course, vs. Fake Undertaker!
  21. screw it, Amazon.com is down to $25, which with the stronger Canadian dollar is about what they'd be charging me on Amazon.ca for an import. Ordered and on the way!
  22. Does anyone know if Amazon.ca takes forever to ship things? I'm not objecting to paying the US price if it means I can get it at the same speed I have received stuff from Amazon before, but if the Canadian Amazon is just as fast (but the idea that it's an "Import" makes me think it's not), I'll just order from them.
  23. Off hand, I can't think of any really good Angle matches that haven't already been released on DVD. With a Flair, or a Rey, or a Jericho, or a Shawn, they have lots to use from WCW or older WWF that happened during the $45 Coliseum tape era, and therefore I don't own. All of Angle's PPV work I already have on tape, and off the top of my head I can't think of any really good stuff from TV. Cena's debut vs. Angle is on BTWS 2, vs. Rey and vs Rey vs. Benoit is on the Rey DVD. Maybe Rey/Edge vs Angle/Benoit 2/3 falls would be good. Discussing what matches that aren't already available on DVD (or, again, for those who are wise with money and won't buy something crappy like Backlash 2002 just for Angle vs Edge) would be a good idea for another thread, as this is about Flair.
  24. I would certainly hope that if the Angle DVD has the Ironman match on it, it would be restored without commercials. Frankly, as much as I love Angle, that would probably be the one thing to get me to buy the DVD (or some other really good TV matches). I'm sure the Angle DVD will be great for folks who are actually wise with their money, but for those who blow it to own every PPV, there isn't much besides awesome TV matches that can be put on it to make me buy it.
  25. It's an awful match, but let it play through next time, as Heenan and Gorilla really shine (more so than usual) on that match. They always turned it up a notch when the match was awful. My one regret with FF'ing through matches, especially from the Ventura orHennan eras, is that I could possibly be missing some grade A commentary. It's been a loooong time since I've watched that match in full, but I'll be sure to give it a listen next time.
