  1. The Mr. America / Vince McMahon lie detector test, ripped right from whatever episode of The Simpsons it is Moe is hooked up to one (Who Shot Mr Burns Part 2?), complete with "TV Lie Detector" dings and buzzing.
  2. Meltzer is reporting that Haas is fine and was just knocked a little loopy last night. Benjamin, on the other hand ,well be getting the same knee surgery (arthoscopic or whatever) that Angle and Rey had. They missed about 4-6 weeks IIRC. This apparently is in regard to a past injury, and not based on last night.
  3. Going waaay off topic now, but sticking with the subs vs dub, Movie 7 has a really, really awful dub to it.
  4. Despite EGM's hype of it being the best DBZ game of all time, it isn't all that good... which, I guess, makes it the best DBZ game of all time.
  5. Looks pretty much like he did in the SNES game.
  6. Well, when we planned this trip to Maryland, we didn't realize there was going to be some free televised mini-concert from the National Mall until the night before we left. Although I have no idea who Good Charlotte were or any care to see Mary Blige perform, I decided to go anyway because A. It was a big televised deal and B. Aerosmith was there. Last night at 11 (and this morning too), all the news coverage talked about what a great time everyone had. I guess this because they didn't talk to the people like me who left early.... It was a lot like a SmackDown TV Taping... it wasn't actually live, but they pretended it was on TV. They took really, REALLY long pauses between acts to get it down right for TV. And they had dark matches... or in this case, dark acts. We heard Aerosmith on our way in at 5:50, then GC came on and all the silly little girls went crazy. The grass was wet and muddy from all the rain here, and we had nothing to sit on. This was our own fault, but we had been walking all day and were in no mood to stand some more. After GC came out again at 7 for the "Live" portion of the show, they took about 35 minutes to show 5,261 commercials on the big sceens about cleaning up America's parks. It was really ridiculous, so we just left. What was the point of this? Nothing. But I hate it when they lie on TV and say something is live when it wasn't, then have all these people saying what an awesome time they had. I suppose if you filed in at 7:45 after GC and Mary finished and saw Britney and Aerosmith with all the pyro, they'd be right.
  7. I feel less special as a Canadian now that it's going into US syndication.
  8. Greetings from vacation! Anyway, no, I am quite familiar with the 1995 FunI theme song, and this was not it. Something I didn't think about while watching this episode was the fact the credits listed Ocean Group as the VAs, but this obviously not the 1995 dub, and I was pretty sure FunI did all their recording in Texas now. I've come to the conclusion, though it may be wrong, that, much the same way that after a certain episode of the dub (around the Cell Games) Canada starts getting the foreign market version of Z that Ocean dubs, we get a similar deal for DB. The only problem with that answer is the episode I watched (which is the only 'new' episode I've seen, as I've been in the US since Tuesday morning) used the word 'kill' a few times, while the Ocean Dub of DBZ that we got in Canada totally removed that dirty word and managed to make their dub script worse than FunI's (basically the same though.. Closed Captioning actually uses the FunI script, so you can see where "Kill" and such has been replaced if you're bored).
  9. That's what I thought it might have been called. I was also young when it aired, and looking at the above skit I described, imagine it was more awful than my young mind thought it was.
  10. While I would imagine a very, VERY low number of people here care (if anyone at all), the sad fact is the folks with the neilsen boxes probably do.
  11. Anyone remember some sketch comedy show on Fox where the cast died a horrible death to start every episode (or at least one episode)? I think one of the bits on the show involved Dylan and another male character from 90210 fighting with spikey hair until one got impaled... or something. I only saw a few episodes of this in syndication before the local UPN removed it, but anyone remember What's Happening NOW!? The adventures of Rerun, Dwyane, and Raj as young adults.
  12. Ok, so just a few confirmation questions... Does Bulma have a totally different VA for the new CN Dubs? And, did it have some really crappy cheesey opening (cheesier than the original FunI opening) that, I guess, was supposed to represent people in a movie theatre watching it (it was a bunch of neon coloured circles while "Dragon Ball" appeared on a white screen). Oh, and about Harmony Gold... I know that Saban/FunI did the original 13 episodes, but, basedon what I read back on Chris Psaros' DBZ Uncensored site... I think, maybe it was Planet Namek... anyway, there was a story about a Harmony Gold dub of DB that was more faithful to the story that didn't end up airing. I wish I could remember more detials on why this was even made if it wasn't going to air, but I don't. Also suspicious was the lack of any company logo in or at the end of the credits. Again, this could all be how it was on CN, I'm just confirming.
  13. Ok, this is what I understood.... DB had 13 episodes dubbed 8 years ago, heavily cut, bad music, etc., then they jumped right into Z. Fast forward a few years later, DBZ is popular but running out of episodes to dub, so they start dubbing DB again. However, and this is what I understood, 1-13 were not touched due to copyright issues with Saban. So, after I think about a year or two or somewhere in between of the new and (from what I hear, with original music and all) improved dub of DB airing in the US, it finally started in Canada tonight. But... I have a hard time believing the episode that aired on YTV tonight was Funimation produced. It was the 1st episode, it had Goku introduce himself as Son Goku, it didn't use the usual VA's, and it included the 'panty shot' when Goku was looking for a tail on Bulma. It also has a really awful opening and theme song, but I'll look past that. My questions... was this the 'Harmony Gold' dub I read about a few years back? Did this air in the US on Cartoon Network?
  14. Ok, the show just started right now in Canada, and without seeing any of the shows actual content, any anime that is dubbed to have "I Ran" as the theme song is clearly awesome.
  15. I always found the edit line in the first Austin Powers, "I never forget a kitty.. cat" to be amusing (in the bad way). The fact that they keep the pause in makes no sense as they've already removed the joke.
  16. Meltzer said it was Rock in the WON.
  17. The answer is obviously Ford Field in Detroit.
  18. Hooray for WrestleMania XX, Undertaker vs Vince!

  20. Love the format. I really favour X/10 over the star ratings. They are both subjective, but I personally have an easier time assigning a number to a match than a star rating, it helps to avoid things like "What do you mean Hogan vs Flair was ****? It was only ***3/4, you dumb moron". Did you check out the Real American Music Video easter egg, Rob? It's f'n priceless.
  21. I saw an ad that said Future Shop would be holding a free screening fomr 9pm - 12am Monday night, then selling copies when the movie ended. If this happened at more than one store, I don't know. I don't even remember if it was a Toronto Only thing or if I read about it in an ad in the local paper here in Windsor. I'm kinda going back and forth on the matter... I refuse to buy more than one DVD for a movie unless things are changed drastically (ie No bonus features upgraded to several), and even then it's iffy. On one side of the coin, I liked the movie as is and really don't need to see a longer version of it, so I can buy the current DVD. On the other side, everyone is saying "I'd wait", so who knows. My DVD money is pretty wrapped up in various WWE releases (can't complete the mural without the shitty PPVs!), Simpsons Season 3, eventually KOTH Season 1, and the upcoming Family Guy Volume 2 (Season 3). So, I'm good to wait.
  22. Without trying to spoil.. but I'll use the tag just incase, Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Eddie vs Cena and the 3 Way ME take up over 30 minutes of wrestling time, says the WO spoilers . Hence just 4 matches.. I guess.
  23. From what I've been led to beleive for the past two years, Albert's IC title win over Kane ended up being a great match when even WWE figured it shouldn't belong on PPV. However, I was on vacation at the time and the power went out at home, so I missed that SmackDown as well as the legendary Buff Bagwell vs Booker T Raw. From what I've seen myself, Trish vs Stephanie at No Way Out, Lita vs Stephanie when Lita won the title, any Albert vs Benoit match on SmackDown this year (especially the one where Train busted out a variation of the Muscle Buster), the Big Show / Lesnar series, and the next two matches I'll probably get shot for mentioning... Hogan vs Vince at Mania and HHH vs Nash at Bad Blood.
  24. Since the last episode of The Nnew Class, I guess. They briefly mentioned it in the Saved By the Bell E! True Hollywood Story.
  25. SAVED BY THE BELL'S "SCREECH" Dustin Diamond (that's how the ad in the paper advertised him) was in town here awhile ago for his stand up act, and I regret not going.
