Pearl Jam plan Layne Staley tribute

Puddle of Mudd's lead singer's voice is to Layne Staley what Christian Slater in Pump Up The Volume was to any Jack Nicholson performance. Pump Up The Volume still kicked ass though. Puddle of Mudd however, does not.

Pearl Jam plan Layne Staley tribute

Forgive me here, but those are, quite possibly, the worst lyrics that I've ever heard. The message is nice, but the means of conveying that message suck. Eh, normally I'd agree with you, but it seems *REAL*~! I know I sound like all those losers who talk like that, but in this case, I don't think even the most cynical person can try and deny the guy's emotion. Prove me wrong TSM. When I think of what he's saying though, the first band that comes to mind is Puddle of Mudd.

    Steve Austins Book....

The only thing I want to know is what exactly did he have to say about Adams, and specifically Owen Hart? Is anything said about Owen non-neck injury related?

    Weird/interesting fights

Aside from the numerous fights with friends and cousins, I've really only been in one *fight*. I broke his leg in about five seconds. Never got into a fight after that. Just the other day I heard of how this REALLY stupid kid started a fight after someone brushed him. He's pretty small, but the other dude was like half his size, so you know where this is going. He brushed him, the dude slapped his glasses off, and just proceeded to pound the shit out of him. I'm surprised that the guy wasn't suspended, but I guess the kid was too scared to tell anyone. After school the guy told his friends about it, and they tried looking for him. Keep in mind that this is the guy that WON the fight. What the hell do you have to prove after that? Knowing what I do, odds are he bragged about how much of a "thug" he was after this one, especially since he wanted to have a group beatdown. All of these pseudo-thugs piss me off. EDIT: I realised that I worded the story pretty terribly. My bad.

    New Dream Theater radio single!

I love DT, but the man has sort of a point. I just don't think it applies to these guys, believe it or not. I hate guys like Yngwie Malmsteen and all THOSE guys though.

    Goldberg angry again...

Not to come down on you Rico, but you DON'T know him. How do you know whether or not he'd be mad about it? As for Mark Henry...I dunno. Maybe I just *DON'T* have the same sense of humor as the rest of you, because that seems mean as hell to me. Although I wonder why the hell Mark didn't check with any of the road agents or officials before getting off the plane. I mean, yeah, Ric's a legend and all, but get some OFFICIAL word before making a 10 hour drive. Still, they could've at least tried to stop him before he got off the plane. Edit: Typo. Why is everyone all down on Nature Boy for this, or taking it seriously like Henry should have a shot at complaining to the office? He should be pissed at himself for being such an idiot. I can't get over how stupid this is. This is one of the STUPIDEST things I've ever heard of. Goddamn. Side note; Henry must have SERIOUS esteem issues about his weight.

    Goldberg angry again...

That's fucked up. I don't care how much money he makes, if I was Mark Henry, I'd be pissed off after that one. If I was Henry, I'd be a fuckin' idiot. The hate on Goldberg in this thread is beyond ridiculous, some of you guys need to wait until some news pops up that actually warrants a bashing. And no, shit from the past has no relevance to this.

Also, in boxing, it seems to compare favourably to Kickboxing, oddly enough. Odds are someone who spends ALL of their time perfecting their punches will have much more knockout power than someone who spends time on both kicking and boxing. That's just common sense. On top of that, boxers tend to have a stronger chin than most kickboxers. Boxers keep their feet in a set position, while kickboxers are constantly moving. That means that a boxer has a better base when throwing a punch. Finally, there's a reason that boxers have matches that are 15 roudns (Heavyweight) while most kickboxing and K-1 matches are just three. If a boxer were to fight under rules with just three rounds he can go all out without getting gassed. That's a big deal.

    GHETTOPOLY~!

After reading this entire thing, I whole-heartedly agree with Ripper and I don't agree with your comment about Native Americans Hogan. So I guess I'll get racism comments for being a native american and for the fact that I'm dating a black guy. What a load of bullshit. People who say racism doesn't exist anymore are more than likely racist fucks that don't even see they do it. I assumed that you were white. Meh.

I was REALLY disappointed after watching the Botha match, as the topic of 'Boxer vs. K-1 fighter" is pretty much talked about by everyone in MMA circles. It looked like it was gonna be a slaughter too, until he went for the GnP. Ditto for Sapp, but he looked as if he was gonna lose to Bonjavsky. I think Botha would murder Sapp though. For those who are more knowledgable on the subject than I, what are the odds that a K-1 fighter, basically a kickboxer, would take out a regular boxer? I'd bet the boxer to take it, since they have MUCH more power in the punch and a very tough chin to boot. That's the average though, not applicable to all cases of course.

    Philosophy Help

Follow-up to my previous question: The body uses many different ratios as a means of determining it's health and well-being. Examples being temperate, body fat, whatever. My question is, did the people who came up with such numbers do so after learning of Pythagoras' findings, or was it pure coincidence?

    Philosophy Help

Well, if anyone doesn't mind, can someone help me answer the following question: How would Pythagoras have the extended concept of harmonia to the practice of medicine? I have looked and can't find much, although the fact that his concept of harmonia seems to have nothing to do with modern medicine may be why. Does anyone out there either already know what can be said about this, or at least know a good site to find some information? Any help is appreciated, and I'm sure there's bound to be a philosophy major somewhere 'round these parts.

    Sig Picture

It's nothing to do with the actual pic, just how it looks on the forum. I actually made the height less than 300, so that's probably fine right? One last question if you guys don't mind; if a picture doesn't have .jpg, or .gif, or whatever, and I wanna put it on this site, is there a way of doing it without saving it and hosting it another site? Thanks for the help on resizing it though.

How about that both the ratio of the concept of harmonia and the practice of medicine are science and mathimatically bases, but both were used to find and maintain beauty and celebrate Athenian culture? The ratio of the concept of harmonia was used to create beautiful music, which celebrated the arts and culture of Athena. The practice of medicine was used to help cure the body. In other words, to keep the perfection and beauty of the human body, which was another big part of the culture. While that's a fine answer, it ain't what *Pythagoras* said. I already answered the question really, and now the only debate left is based on how useful Philosophy is. I'll say this much; there's a LOT of lateral thinking, and also logic. Like Ace said, it's very good at helping one debate and argue.

Sell me on Hating Linkin Park

Yeah, but here's the important difference. Linkin Park's stuff was cliched before they were born, by people with more musical talent, and more ACTUAL pain then any of them probably ever have. Iron Maiden's stuff may be cliched, but that's because they made that cliche themselves. Probably. Don't get me wrong I'm not like defending LP or anything. If anything, I can't stand them.

Ironically, my fondest memory regarding baseball. I'm a Bills fan though, take your pick. Personally, one that stings the most is the one I fondly remember the most; Music City Miracle. Looking back, I *still* think it was a forward pass.

    Vader in the WWF

When I watched the WWF back than, I had no clue as to what Hulk was doing with Vader in WCW, and didn't care. When he had arrived, I just wanted to see him run through everyone on his way to the WWF Title. Didn't happen. The Hulk Hogan thing didn't ruin his credibility in the WWF in my opinion. That's because, as you said, you never watched WCW to see what took place. For fans of both, especially the markish fans, Vader's cred was lost as soon as he met Hogan. It was fucked up, and I'll never forgive Hogan for that one thing. I assumed that most fans didn't watch both, as that was the time period when people were felt allegiance to one particular promotion, so to speak. I think most of you have the injury thing wrong; it was Ken who was too intense with the Ankle Lock, causing him to break, or sprain, Vader's ankle. I believe that's the accepted story.

    Philosophy Help

That would normally help a little, as it talks a lot about harmonia, but nothing about medicine. It's all good though, as thanks to a little bit of effort, I got it. Just in case there are people that are actually interested, this is what I got: How would Pythagoras have extended the concept of harmonia to the practice of medicine? Pythagoras’ definition of harmonia entails the discovery of number/ratio/proportion as the fundamental basis of music intervals. Also known as tuning, it is a matter of imposing set mathematical proportions (a limit, bound, structure) upon chaos: the undifferentiated, unlimited and boundless. On a diatonic scale, these ratios could be expressed as 2:1, 3:2, or 4:3. Such result is a figure, or pattern. The concept of harmonia can be extended to the practice of medicine due to how one can recover from illness. Healing has to do with bringing opposites into balance, also known as the resolution of tension (harmonia) If the body were an instrument, than having good health would mean "being in tune”. Henceforth, tonics are used to restore balance and to help the body become "well tempered". A disease is due to the predominance of one constitutional element over its opposite. Simply put, Pythagoras felt that the practice of good health is temperance, a sense of balance, otherwise known as harmonia. For better understanding, one could also look at conflict as an example of a lack of harmonia. Disagreements, such as marital disputes, should be capable of formulation into a system of oppositions, numerical ratios which can be brought into balance.

Sorry for the miswording; basically, how is Pythagoras' concept of harmonia related to the practice of medicine. Should I just throw in the towel?
