Also at stake, the presidential aspirations of numerous incumbent senators and governors who might run for President if they do well enough, including this dipshit: http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/25/vir...e.ap/index.html I wouldn't give this story much credibility except there are, of course, also multiple instances of Allen making pro-Confederate statements, posing with the Confederate flag, and hanging a lynching noose in his office.

(Yeah, I know there's already a Lieberman thread, but the election is bigger than just him.) The election is little more than a month away. What's at stake: 33 Senate seats and control of the Senate 435 House seats and control of the House 36 governorships Democrats want this election to be a referendum on the currently unpopular Pres. Bush. Republican want everyone to forget they're Republicans and vote for them anyways. Voting is Nov. 7th. http://www.nytimes.com/ref/washington/2006ELECTIONGUIDE.html

One and Only Star Wars Geekiness Thread

The non-anamorphic OT transfers don't look great, but pretty good considering you have to blow them up and cut off the top and bottom for viewing on a 16:9 TV. The desire for pure picture quality was shot the second I saw those square boxes around the spaceships. -
Naw...Dwight's more of an arrogant jackass. This new guy seems like more of a pure psycho.

What about seeing Nicolette Sheridan in her underwear? Not bad, but her face sure went to hell in the last ten years.

Pataki's got 2 choices: 1) drop out and throw whatever meager support he accumulates between now and a year from now behind McCain, or 2) claim Jesus told him to run and begin quickly reversing his positions on social issues.

Bill Clinton defends his record on terrorism
SuperJerk replied to SuperJerk's topic in Current Events
I, unlike many right wingers do not hate Clinton, but this is a stupid fucking thing to say. Its not like he can claim he suceeded. I think the point was that he even tried, which is more than his critics give him credit for. The press barely covered his anti-terrorism policies because they were too busy chasing the Lewinsky scandal. Most Americans are oblivious to how much attention Clinton gave Bin Laden prior to the USS Cole attack. Thus, the situation is ripe for right-wing pundits, 527s, and certain former U.S. Attorney Generals to lie their asses off and claim Clinton never did anything about terrorism. How often have you heard the charge that Clinton never retaliated against bin Laden for the USS Cole bombing, when the investigation into the bombing didn't name Al Quaeda as the guilty party until AFTER Clinton left office? How often was it charged that Clinton did nothing about the first WTC attack when the guilty parties are TODAY sitting in a U.S. prison? Criticism of Clinton's record on terrorism are nothing but a smoke-screen to hide pre-9/11 Republican incompetence. What's going to hurt Clinton's legacy more...letting accusations he did nothing about terrorism go unchallenged, or getting mad at a news interviewer nobody's ever heard of? -
http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/09/24/cli...aden/index.html Good for him. If you recall, here's how some Republican responded to Clinton's 1998 attempt to destroy Al Quaeda at the time: http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/08/20/strike.react/ More truth about Clinton's record: http://www.snopes.com/rumors/clinton.htm

This is on tomorrow. You know what that means? We can see "Heroes"...after one day.
-
The villians in this series should be used to get the heroes a reason to be in the same place at the same time. Come on folks, super-hero vs. super-villian is what Marvel does 90% of the time as it is (the other 10% being X-Men vs. some government agency). Is it really time to complain you can't get enough super-hero/super-villian battles? And heroes bringing in villians to fight other heroes? Dumb. The villians are about 100x more dangerous to society than the renegade heroes are. That makes as much sense as the police sending Charles Manson after you because you shoplifted.

I could have sworn they said she was convicted or sentenced or something.

So this is what college kids are like nowadays? This thread is a good argument for bringing back the military draft and including women in it. Geez.

Ingenius.

They've been pretty good about maintaining continuity between the episodes so far. I doubt they'd have put Joy in jail if they weren't planning some really great gags as a pay-off.

Which in no way invalidates the slogan. -
Reason #758 to never get married. And, come on...Eva Longoria? I may hate the show, but its certainly not boring to watch. I'd say this is my favorite out of the three you listed. The other two just aren't as interesting. Okay...I'll admit that story actually wasn't bad, if only because the gay son was so fucking twisted. I really want to fucking punch Marcia Cross's character every time she appears on the screen. My other big complaint: Felicity Huffman's character seems like she was imported from another show. Her storylines compared to everyone else's are so different its like ABC changed the channel in the middle of the show and I'm watching another channel. And why in God's name would she even be friends with the rest of these idiots? Is this an example of women sticking together just for the sake of sticking together? In real life, would she completely see through Susan's inherent stupidity and Gabrielle's bullshit?

Wierd that they picked him instead of Alan Ritchson (who played Aquaman in Smallville). Either way, I heard it was a total bomb of a show. I suspect it was because the first Aquaman's acting was of middle-school play caliber. How to get me to watch this show again: -have Lana move far, far away. -have Clark grow some fucking balls. -more Chloe. -guest-star the Legion.
-
So what do you like better: the stories about evil gay sons plotting revenge on their mothers, spoiled wives adopting children for appearances, or mom's career causing marriage problems? And don't get me started on the bland, idiotic narration constantly pointing out the obvious. I'm not trying to be mean, but everyone pretty much just needs to admit this show's strength has nothing to do with the plot.

I bought the season 2 DVD because I didn't start watching until halfway through the season and wanted to see what I'd missed. The show titles (whch are usually a one or two word description of the situation the employees find themselves in) of the episodes are usually enough to get me laughing based on the potential for comedy each situation is ripe for. Based on that premise, here are the titles for the next two upcoming season 3 shows: "The Convention" "The Coup"

So is Joy going to be in prison all year? That has the makings of comic gold, right there.
