Only if they deserve it.

I'm only willing to go as far as a 3-thread flame war with someone over that.

You are correct, Sir! Bob Novak was the original journalist who outed Plame's undercover identity. Hmmmm...that'd seem to indicate that maybe he was too close to the story to comment on it objectively. As Commander-in-Chief, the President has the power to declassify anything he wants. All they have to do is show that Pres. Bush declassified Plame's status before the VP's office leaked the info. Thus, I don't see these charges sticking. That makes sense, but common sense won't get you very far in an American court, I'm afraid. State of mind is difficult to prove. The only way I'd beleive that is maybe if Dick Cheney had plans for an Iraqi invasion already written out before even 9/11 happened. Of course, that's a completely ridicules idea, right?

This is only 1/1000th of the media backlash against her I was hoping for, but I guess it'll have to do.

I'll say this again: The U.S. is already rebuilding the place. Except we didn't invade to make the Shiites happy, so what they asked for and when they asked for it is COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT. Since we don't have a time machine, we can't go back and fix the invasion. I'm talking about making the best of the current situation, instead of concentrating on stuff that we have no control over. I refuse to accept this premise based on the lacvk of evidence you have to support it. Yes, there's more terrorism in Iraq than there was before 2003, but Saddam wasn't exactly keeping the Iraqi body count at 0 himself. I don't know where you got that number from. If its even close to being true, its probably because of resentment over civilian casualties during the invasion, and not an assessment of what the country would become if the U.S. suddenly left.

Isn't Novak actually PART OF this story?

I think we were so spoiled after Reagan and Clinton we now expect every president to be the second coming of Cicero.

My copy of the GOP talking points memo didn't have the second page, apparently. I'm curious to know how "willful and malicious" really plays into this legally.

I've got the urge to watch "Laserblast" again for some reason. I actually remember trying to watch it on a UHF station on a Sunday afternoon when I was a kid before MST3K even debuted. -
I think the biggest problem with Kevin Smith movies is that they were never intended to be watched over and over or scrutinized in the detail that us internet geeks tend to do. Any movie can seem bad after you've seen it too many times.

I always had a thing for Dana on "Step by Step." Maybe it was because I was still crushing on her from "My Two Dads," or maybe because she was the only character who realized everyone around her was a total idiot. It was cool because her constant cutting-down of the other characters was kind of like the writers were sending a secret message that they too knew how dumb the show really was.

Darkseid should be saved for if they ever do a Fourth World movie. Bizarro would only work if they did him as a pure evil clone, instead of a dumb clone with Superman's powers who speaks in opposites. I'd really like to see Brainiac, Kryptonite Man, or Metallo in a movie, though. And Supergirl.

I already know where this thread is going. People are going to counter-argue that (a) Plame's status as a CIA agent was not a secret at the time of the revelation, and (b) that the president is allowed to delassify any information he wants, so anything the White House chooses to leak to perfectly legal. Then the thread will turn into either a bitch session about (a) how the liberal media is out to get Cheney or (b) every unethical thing Cheney has alledgedly done since becoming VPOTUS.

Reparations? The U.S. is already rebuilding the place. We handed them a better form of government on s silver platter, and are helping them maintain it. This is after we got rid of their dictator for them.

I know a part of the world where they still take religion very seriously. However, I live in America. People don't have to take religion seriously if they don't want to. Live your life the way you want and stay true to your own beliefs, but keep in mind nobody else has to believe the same stuff as you. You can't MAKE people religious or make being religious popular, so quit worrying about it.

Today one of the professors told us if we didn't start working together more our grades would start suffering. Cuz that's fair.

Thank you or reminding to vote against any politician I hear pushing for more abstinence-only programs.

When a thread about Middle East peace gets references to Eddie Izzard and Morissey worked into it, I know I'm in the right place.

I'm also trying to figure out how a person or couple earning minimum wage is supposed to afford child care.

This is a good place to start. The federal definition of poverty was created over 40 years ago and is based on taking what an average person spends on food and multiplying it by 3. This is a pretty ridicules indicator, given how relatively inexpensive food has become in the year 2006. For instance, in my family of 3, we spend about 7% of our income on food. The definition of poverty should vary from region to region, since the cost of living (rent/mortgage, utilities, and food) varies by region. Even by the federal standard, though, someone making minimum wage is still considered poor once you take payroll and sales taxes are into consideration. According to the government, 1 person earning $9,800 a year would be poor. That's more than someone making $5.15 an hour (the federally mandated minimum wage) makes in a year after taxes. However, I honestly do not see how someone can support themselves earning $9,800 a year, or support themselves and one child on $13,200.

Our next Speaker of the House. Yay. Not the first time this thought has occurred to me, but the first time I felt the need to point this out: a Pelosi Speakership would probably kill any chances of a Hillary Clinton presidency.
