There was a physical altercation this afternoon between Teddy Hart and C.M. Punk in Nashville, TN before the TNA PPV, which they're both scheduled to be on. Hart and Punk were involved in a physical confrontation at a restaurant near the Tennessee State Fairgrounds (home of the venue where TNA PPVs are taped) where workers eat prior to the TNA PPVs. Punk was leaving the restaurant as Hart and his entourage were coming in. When the two ran into each other, Hart asked Punk if he had a problem with him and to step outside if he did. Punk went outside the restaurant and slapped Hart across the face. A short scuffle took place, broken up by Sabu, among others. Hart ended up with a fat lip and a bruise on his face, while Punk had a scraped elbow and a bruised forehead. TNA management threatened that if it happened again, people would lose their jobs.

Steven Bryant's report to UPW 5th Anni Show

Good lord...what a point you have there. I have NO idea...Cali is just three hours behind Philly, so it's absolutely beyond me not how he did it because it would've been hard, but because it would be damn near impossible. I have NO idea how he ever got from Philly to So-Cal (or was it vice versa?) in such quick time. Honestly, it sounds impossible, but his name IS on both of the results...so, well, I'll be damned...I ain't got a clue...it's quite a mystery, LOL... -
Ebessen (a.k.a. Mitsunobu Kikuzawa in XPW and FMW) is classic when it comes to comedy. He's a good wrestler, too, but unfortunately tends to really stick to comedy...He's got a hilarious mask, too...

I've been trying to get to the site most of today and it keeps saying that it can't be found. Am I the only one this is happening to or does there seem to be a problem with it for others too?

CREDIT: IWAMidSouthWrestling.com board IWA Mid-South Wrestling returned to the Community Center Gym in Oolitic, IN on Saturday night, February 21st. Here's what went down... 1. "The Tremendous" EMIL SITOCI def. FRANKIE THE FACE with Tremendosity (reverse bodypress into a chinbreaker). 2. TRIK DAVIS & EDDIE VENOM def. "The Highlanders" RORY & ROBBIE McALLISTER in a tag team matchup. Just after Davis scored the pinfall, CASH FLO hit the ring and attacked him, as a result of Trik's challenge for a rematch against Cash to take place on the 3/6 Highland, IN card. Seconds later "Road Dogg" BG JAMES hit the ring to make the save. 3. BJ WHITMER (w/ Jim Fannin) def. "Metalhead" STEVE STONE following outside interference by Fannin, and with Whitmer's feet on the ropes for leverage. 4. "Barbaric Berzerker" JIMMY JACOBS (w/ Becky Bayless) def. "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON after hitting the Contra Code. Late in the bout, BJ WHITMER made his way to ringside and had a few words with Bayless, which momentarily took Jacobs' attention from Cannon, but he was still able to give Cannon his finisher and score the pinfall. Immediately after the bell, Whitmer jumped in the ring and attacked Jacobs, prompting STEVE STONE to hit the ring to make the save. Stone then grabbed the mic and told BJ that if he wants to cheat to win their match, and now wants to get involved with Jacobs' match as well, they should settle it in the ring tag team style later in the show, with Cannon as Whitmer's tag team partner. Whitmer immediately accepted, but Cannon was reluctant to agree to a partnership with BJ. Eventually Cannon said yes, and the match was made. 5. CASH FLO (w/ Jim Fannin) def. "Road Dogg" BG JAMES after nailing him with a chain behind the ref's back. Post-match, the referee was attacked by Fannin and Cash as well, which led to TRIK DAVIS hitting the ring and joining James in going to town on both Cash and Fannin. BG announced to the crowd that he'd be back in "O-Town" on 3/5, and will team up with "Bones Malone" (Trik) in a tag match against "Chump Change" and Fannin. 6. "Barbaric Berzerker" JIMMY JACOBS & "Metalhead" STEVE STONE (w/ Becky Bayless) def. BJ WHITMER & "Anarchist" ARIK CANNON after Stone hit the Stonesault on Whitmer. The show was filmed with two cameras for home video release, with commentary by Dave Prazak, Becky Bayless, and Ian Rotten... What does everyone think about the idea of him returning (he and Raven vs. The Gathering this coming week)? I guess for one thing, Bob Ryder must've gotten back on his good side, because they weren't on the same page for awhile and that seemed to be preventing him from returning. Now that's he's back, I guess there's a few routes to go...3PW has experimented with a Raven/Sabu rivalry, and with them now apparently teaming in TNA, it's set up a possible storyline where one turns on the other and they feud. That could be a good thing...they never wrestled in ECW and have only had one one-on-one match that I know of (in USA Pro). Raven's kinda in a tender place right now...feuding with the friggin Redshirts, nothing like where he was during his programs with Jarrett and Styles. I guess Sabu vs. Styles and even vs. Jarrett could be decent, if doen right, but they may be styles clashes. Maybe a Sabu/Funk feud in TNA?

BARDWELL Copyright 2004 Houston Chronicle A Livingston Junior High School student is in police custody today, after fellow students called Crime Stoppers to report he had a homemade bomb at school Thursday. The student, whose name is not being released because of his age, hollowed out a Game Boy and filled it with gunpowder, Livingston police said. But when the student bragged about his invention, another student called Crime Stoppers to report the device, police said. The Polk County school was evacuated briefly Thursday afternoon while officials searched for the student and the bomb. He was arrested on a school bus headed to a track meet, and the bomb was rendered harmless. Police said the boy could be charged with carrying a prohibited weapon into a school zone, a second degree felony.

UPW = WWE developmental territory. It's where Nathan Jones, John Cena, Victoria, Sakoda, and developmental star Chris Mordetzky got their starts. Also, Steve's telling me that former-XPW stars "The Rock Superstar" Kaos and Dynamite D were at the show, sitting together in the crowd. Like Steve said, Tank Abbott was also there in attendance. -

Everybody's favorite ring crew guy, LEROY~! will now be contributing the retrospective. Those guys'll join Verne Langdon, GQ Money, and Johnny Webb, who have already helped out. Also, there may be a couple other XPW homegrown guys contributing, and more info will be released soon. I'm working on getting some of the guuys who - when you say "XPW - you immediately think of (probably not Supreme or Kaos, though, unfortunately). -
UPW ran the biggest show in their history, as they held their fifth anniversary show on February 20. The Grove is probably the nicest venue for wrestling in Southern California. It almost seems wrong to have a wrestling show in a place that nice. The venue was pretty packed; as there were about 1,500 people there I’d estimate. The show was scheduled to start at 7:00, and actually started around 8:00. Havana Pitbulls (Ricky Reyes & Rocky Romero) & Puma over The Outlaws (Mike Knox, Marshall Knox, & Derrick Neikirk) [5'56] This was a really good match, and probably the best technical match of the night. The crowd was really hot for this match, and the whole show in general, but they really seemed to love Puma. All six guys in the match looked really good, especially Mike Knox and Puma. I’m surprised the WWE hasn’t signed Knox yet. This was my match of the night. Erica Porter over Ivory to retain the UPW Women's title [10'04] This was a really ambitious match, as I’m sure a good portion of the crowd isn’t used to a women’s match that goes this long. The match started out with Ivory and Porter taking turns working each other’s arms. I was surprised when they were doing matwork that there wasn’t any catcalls or boring chants, at least none that I could hear. Maybe with the increased workrate in WWE women’s matches over the last couple years fans have become more accepting of female wrestlers having a real match. Anyway the match was pretty good, my only problem with it was while they seemed to take their time building the match at the start, the ending seemed a little more rushed. Babi Slymm, who was ringside with Porter and Big Schwag took Ivory out with a lariat when the ref wasn’t looking and Porter got the pin. Both Ivory and Porter looked really good, and this is one of the better women’s matches you’d see in the US. Ma'koa, Navajo Warrior, Solo Snuka, Skulu, Sabbath & King Dababa over Shawn Riddik, Tommy Wilson, The Miz, Lil' Nate, Andrew Hellman, & Tony Stradlin [8'44] With 12 guys in a match, as you’d expect there was a lot of stuff going on. The crowd popped huge when King Dababa got in the ring. Dababa looks like a younger Abdullah the Butcher. No one in the match really had much time to stand out, but Sabbath looked pretty impressive. The match itself was OK. There was too much going on to really keep track of, but Skulu hit his finisher on Lil’ Nate and got the pin. Jimmy Snuka over Adam Pearce [3'36] Pearce looked good and sold like a champ for Snuka. At one point Snuka was climbing the ropes and got a face full of powder from Schwag, who was ringside as Pearce’s manager, and Pearce was able to hit a piledriver and get the pin. Unfortunately for Pearce Snuka’s foot was on the rope and the match was restarted. Snuka was able to knock Pearce down right away then hit the splash for the three count. The match was better than I expected a Snuka match to be. Rick Bassman over Pete Doyle for control of UPW [7'02] Prior to the match they showed clips of Rick Bassman training for the match, with I thought was a good touch because it put across how much this match means to Bassman. Then they show a clip of Bassman in the back and he gets hit over the head with the metal clipboard he gave Doyle a few shows back when Doyle took control of UPW. Pete Doyle then came to the ring and announced he just took care of the last bit of red tape standing in his way of controlling UPW and started to go over his new rules for UPW. Bassman then came on the jumbotron and said that “he has the advantage because he knows where Doyle is, but Doyle doesn’t know where Bassman is” and that UPW “used to be called the ‘jungle’ and that they are about to call it that again.” Guns and Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” then started playing and Bassman came through the audience to the ring. This was another match that was better than I expected, as Bassman actually looked decent in the ring. During the match they went through a table on the outside, which resulted in a “holy shit” chant, and even some “UPW” chants. Bassman got the win when Doyle missed him with a shot with the clipboard and Bassman was able to knock it back into Doyle’s head and get the pin. Once the match ended the jumbotron came back on and Vince McMahon appeared. Vince wished UPW a happy fifth anniversary and then proceeded to fire Pete Doyle with the “you’re fired” the only way Vince can, then lead the crowd in the “Na Na Na Na Goodbye” song. The crowd popped huge for Vince. Tom Howard & Christopher Daniels over Scott Hall & Kevin Nash [11'10] Kevin Nash and Scott Hall came out and said since Scott can’t drink, they are getting bored in the back and they have flights to catch and want their match now. That brought out Howard and Daniels. This was a pretty fun match, with the crowd eating up everything the Outsiders did. Howard was made to look like a million bucks, as every time he was in the match he was in control it seemed, and would always be the one to get the hot tag and save the day. Evan Marriott, AKA Joe Millionaire was the special ref for the match, and at one point he and Hall got into a shoving match. Howard and Daniels pinned both Outsiders at the same time and got the win. The crowd wasn’t happy with the Outsiders losing. After the match Hall and Nash goofed around with ring announcer John Ian, then Nash hit Hall with a low blow and left. Hall then got on the mike and said “There's not enough money to get our fat asses off the couch and wrestle, but for kids we’ll do anything.” The Ballards (Shannon & Shane Ballard) over Hardkore Inc. (Hardkore Kidd & Al Katrazz) to win the UPW Tag Team titles This was a tables, ladders, and chairs match. Even with the gimmick match, it was going to be very hard to follow up the Outsiders’ match, which was the main draw to the show. Also, I don’t think there is anything more that can be done in this type of match, that hasn’t been done in the WWE TLC matches, and this match didn’t come near that level of insanity. A lot of matches like this don’t have much logic, such as setting up ladders next to the ropes, which just happens to have a stack of tables on the outside of the ring, and the belts in the middle of ring being nowhere near in reach. The match just didn’t seem to go that well, as it didn’t have a good flow and things seemed way to forced. A funny thing happened before the match, as the belts were hanging above the ring, but they showed Hardkore Inc. backstage, and they had the belts with them. Ken Shamrock vs. Sylvester "Predator" Terkay went to a double DQ [10'08] Prior to the match Shamrock called out Tank Abbott who was in the audience, and said something along the lines that if Tank is a man he’ll sign the contract to fight in July in UFC. Tank yelled for the rest of the match, stealing heat from what started out to be a really good match. Predator was being built as a huge monster throughout the match, as almost nothing Shamrock would do could take him down. They worked a sort of shoot and American style mix, but it came across real well. Shamrock had a few really good reversals into submission holds. At one point Shamrock had an arm bar on Terkay, and Terkay gave Ken a sick looking powerbomb to break it. Predator pulled out a chain and started to use it on Shamrock, then Shamrock began choking Predator with the chain. The ref tried to break it up and Shamrock choked him out too. The match was ruled a double DQ. Frankie Kazarian over Jerry Lynn and Evan Karagias to retain the UPW Lightweight title -Karagias eliminated at 10'05 -Lynn eliminated at 18'11 This was a pretty good match, and a surprising choice for the main event. Kazarian and Lynn worked really well together in the match, and Karagias looked decent, but didn’t seem to be up to par with the other two. I’m not sure how much he’s wrestled lately because it could just be a little ring rust? This was my second favorite match wrestling wise of the night. After the match Bassman and all the UPW champions came to the ring and thanked the fans for the last five years and said they look forward to the next five. Like I said, a very entertaining show from UPW. The crowd was really hot for the show and everyone I spoke to seemed to have had a good time. UPW seemed to have a problem delivering with their shows last year, but with the quality of their Mat Wars shows so far, and this show it looks like they are turning it back around in 2004. I’d also like to mention that show was a benefit for the Orangewood Children's Foundation, which is a children’s foundation in Orange County. For more information on the Orangewood Children's Foundation check out their website at http://www.orangewoodfoundation.org. Steven Bryant http://www.socaluncensored.com Nash/Hall do the clean job...nice. Good to see Evan Karagias back in action. He's so fucking underrated, and it sucks that he has an attitude problem, because it really keeps him down.

Beckett's really f'n good. He's nicknamed "Mr. Showtime" and trained in the Hart Dungeon for awhile and spent mopst of his timee in NWA Extreme Canadian Championship Wrestling in Canada and held their heavyweight, tag team, Canadian junior heavyweight, and junior hevyweight titles, and also the NCWA tag title. He feuded with Scotty Mac, Bryan Danielson, Adam Firestorm, and Tony Kozina, and had a breakout night at the 2003 ECWA Super 8. He suffered a really sick gash on his chin and he was bleeding all night, but he made it to the finals and lost to Paul London. He's kinda a combo of CM Punk, Matt Stryker, and Chris Daniels in terms of style. His finishers are: - The Chance Encounter (Quebrada into Inverted DDT) (like AJ Styles) - *Phat Chance (Inverted Texas Cloverleaf)* He also uses a Backflip Kick, Leaping Somersault Neckbreaker, Neckbreaker, Rolling Butterflies into a Double Underhook DDT, and a regular Slap.

Credit to their official site, 3PWrestling.com MAIN EVENT - FOR THE 3PW HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP: RAVEN defends against former champ "PITBULL" GARY WOLFE... IN A DOG COLLAR MATCH! The two most powerful forces in 3PW's two year history collide as Raven, who reigns supreme as both 3PW Champion AND commissioner, has agreed to put his championship on the line against Pro-Pain Pro's overall most dominant player, two-time former champ "Pitbull" Gary Wolfe, in the challenger's favorite type of match. Raven has reached a career high since returning to 3PW. Reigning supreme over the locker room AND the boardroom, it goes without saying that what he wants, he gets. He has already used a combination of mind games and his newfound power to win the 3PW Championship, create matches at will, and eliminate the threat of the Sandman. Now, the seemingly omnipotent Raven finds himself challenged once again, this time by a man who will stop at absolutely nothing to regain what he feels he never lost in the first place. Gary Wolfe has never been the same since losing the 3PW title on June 21st, 2003. The first-ever (and two-time) champ truly felt that he DESERVED to be the champion. Convinced he was robbed, the honor and competitive spirit that once resided within Wolfe was replaced by bitterness, misplaced aggression, and a frightening obsession with regaining the belt. No longer caring about his reputation or popularity, he began lashing out, attempting to destroy anyone in his way. From The Sandman to Damian Adams to Wifebeater to even Jimmy Snuka, nobody has been safe. Now, after all this time, the Pitbull finally gets the opportunity that he has thirsted for all this time. He certainly has history on his side. After all, it was September 16th, 1995 when The Pitbulls defeated Raven and Stevie Richards for the ECW Tag Championships in a dog collar match that is widely regarded as one of the best ever. Hell, it was one year ago, at 3PW's FIRST Anniversary event, which saw Wolfe cut short the debuting Raven's surprise bid for the title by cleanly defeating him in the middle of the ring. In other words, "The Pitbull" is clearly capable of defeating Raven, but those were different times. The old Pitbull was simply dominant: the new, darker one may just be unstoppable. In any case, it's no longer just about winning a championship for Gary Wolfe: indeed, he has made this quest the focus of his entire being, his entire LIFE, and on February 21st, it will be do or die for the Pitbull. Can he finally regain the championship that he so desperately craves? Or will Raven once again use his stroke to his advantage and find a way to retain the gold? 3PW has just learned that none other than SLYK WAGNER BROWN and APRIL HUNTER will be in the house for our Second Anniversary Show on February 21st. Arguably the biggest breakout stars of 2003 in the wrestling world, Slyk and April have become highly sought after talent, both collectively and individually. Using the motto "Don't Hate...appreciate", Slyk has made the wrestling world do just that, winning championships and fans all over the US, in Europe, and even in Puerto Rico with his unique combination of power and ability. Meanwhile, April has done just as well for herself, dominating members of both genders wherever she goes. As a testimonial to this former Playboy Playmate's skills, Hunter was one of very few women in this country to be invited on a Japanese tour for the A to Z Women's promotion. Separately, the master of the "Slyk Slam" and the former NWO girl are tough to beat... together, they may be unstoppable. Only one problem: neither Slyk nor April has been scheduled for a match on February 21st. What, then, do they have in store as they make their debut in the world's most infamous arena? On Saturday, February 21st, we will all find out! #1 CONTENDER'S MATCH: WINNER GETS A TITLE SHOT IN MARCH! JERRY LYNN takes on JOEY MATTHEWS In what should be a potential match-of-the-year candidate, 3PW will put "The New F'N Show" and "The New School" in the ring to determine who gets next crack at the 3PW Heavyweight Championship, an opportunity that both men have coveted for quite some time. Matthews has been claiming that he should be recognized as one of wrestling's elite talents, and, love him or hate him, it's hard to argue that point when you consider his recent pinfall victories over the likes of Low-Ki and AJ Styles. A win over Lynn will unquestionably cement his status as a top-level grappler, and will put him one step closer to becoming top dog in Pro-Pain Pro. Meanwhile, Lynn has returned to Philadelphia with hopes of once again reigning supreme in the wrestling capitol of the world. In addition to his amazing athletic prowess, the former ECW Champ has a wealth of experience, and will not easily be outsmarted by Matthew's typical cheap tactics. He has already been to the top of the mountain that Matthews is trying to climb, and wants to prove himself by doing it once again. Can Jerry Lynn prove himself to be the superior wrestler and rightful #1 contender, or will Matthews knock off another top-level competitor en route to an opportunity at ultimate glory? CULT HEROES COLLIDE! SABU takes on ROADKILL One is a revolutionary high-flyer of Indian descent with a penchant for putting his body on the line. The other is a super heavyweight Amish man with an alleged lusting for sheep. On the surface, the "homicidal, genocidal, suicidal maniac" and the "angry Amish warrior" seem like total opposites. Yet, they do have several things in common. Both have been very successful in 3PW. Both speak very rarely, letting their actions speak for them. Most importantly, both have garnered intensely loyal followings over the years, despite neither truly fitting the classic "corporate model" of what a superstar should be. In their own ways, each man changed the business instead of letting the business change them, and have become two of Philadelphia's (and the world's) most beloved competitors on their own terms. On February 21st, as we celebrate two years of Blood, Brawls, Broads, and in Roadkill's case, barnyard animals, Sabu and Roadkill will go head-to-head in perhaps the most unique match in 3PW's history. The return of "HOT STUFF" STRIKER! Is he a lunatic or a genius? Is he showing respect to wrestling's past or mocking it? We may never know for sure, but we DO know that "Hot Stuff" Striker is set to return to 3PW on February 21st, and he says he has something HUGE planned for the occasion. After imitating (and in some cases, pissing off) the likes of Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper and countless others, what could "Hot Stuff" possibly have up his sleeve for our anniversary event? SPECIAL GRUDGE MATCH NWA Florida's Roderick Strong takes on Mikey Batts At 3PW's Second Anniversary show, 3PW will host a grudge match months in the making and 1200 miles from where it started. Roderick Strong and Mikey Batts will square off in Indy wrestling's most famous arena for the first time. This is however, not their first confrontation. Their feud has torn up the rings of NWA Florida to the point where NWA Florida matchmakers would not put the two in the ring together for fear of their safety. When 3PW officials signed Roderick to appear on February 21st, Mikey Batts sprung into action. E-mails and phone calls flooded 3PW's offices until 3PW Officials granted Mikey his wish and put him against Roderick. Mikey has waited months to get his hands back on Strong and only 3PW would give him that chance. Strong, upon hearing that 3PW had penciled in Batts to be his opponent, sprung into action himself. The former NWA Florida X Champion immediately secured the services of one of wrestling's most brilliant and most evil minds "The Hardcore Giant" Ron Neimi. Neimi may give Strong an advantage but that will do nothing but fan the flames of this HOT feud. Thoughts? Raven/Wolfe...meh. I mean, their ECW tag match was classic, but one-on-one, Wolfe sucks, and Raven's divineness can't give him much hope, LOL. Matthews/Lynn I'm high on...Matthews has really been showing stuff as of late, and Lynn is God, as he has been for the last decade. Sabu/Roadkill? Did this ever happen in ECW? Could be good, and Roadkill does rule (along with Sabu), but this is somewhat of a styles clash. I'll try to be positive, because it does have hope, though. Striker's return: No complaints here. Striker's fuckin boss, man. I love him (in a heterosexual way). Strong/Batts: Batts is Billy Kidman's cousin and definitely knows his stuff, as does Strong, and the fact that they've worked together before and even feuded can only help in how well the match is layed out. So, anyone going to the show? Anyone looking forward to the card? Not looking forward to it? Wanting to hug Meanie and Jasmin for putting on such a good show? Wanting to stab Meanie and Jasmin for putting on such a shitty show? LET IT BE KNOWN!

GQ Money hits it up with ring announcer Kingdom James on an XPW show. Over the past 12 months, I’ve been fortunate enough to receive a number of opportunities to chat with former-independent wrestling managerial luminary “Devilish” Lee Handsome a.k.a. GQ Money. Until March 2003, GQ had been employed for more than two years by the ever so controversial XPW (Xtreme Professional Wrestling) promotion in Southern California. In XPW, GQ gained nationwide publicity as one of the most charismatic managers on the US indy wrestling circuit. He was the mouthpiece of XPW’s memorable “Enterprise” faction, with whom he has worked among an impressive entourage of pro wrestling superstars, including The Sandman, Shane Douglas, Chris Hamrick, Danny Doring, New Jack, Bill Alfonso, UK sensation “Wonderkid” Jonny Storm, and Sean “Syxx-Pac/X-Pac” Waltman. However, GQ didn’t just play a fundamental role in XPW in its ring; rather, he worked behind-the-scenes for much of his tenure with both XPW and it’s parent company, adult entertainment corporation Extreme Associates. As an employee at E.A., he directed a number of adult films and interacted on a daily basis with two of the most controversial figures in the realm of pro wrestling – Rob Black and Lizzy Borden, who were indicted on federal obscenity charges early last year. As a vital member of the backstage team of XPW and E.A., GQ was introduced first-hand to a number of the most discussed incidents on the US indy circuit in recent years, including XPW’s controversies with other federations such as EPIC, ROH, and CZW, its fallout with New Jack, and the much-talked-about Chihuahua/snake incident. Since leaving XPW, GQ has toured the US indy circuit, working with the likes of The Messiah, Christopher Daniels, and Scott Hudson in promotions such as NWA-TNA. GQ was remarkably candid during the many interview sessions he had with myself. We discussed a vast variety of topics that cover his whole career, ranging from his childhood as a pro wrestling fan to breaking into the business as a wrestler to performing as a manager in XPW and other promotions. Many of the subjects that GQ discusses have yet to be talked about by XPW officials, and I wouldn’t be exaggerating in stating that the depth of our conversations are comparable to RF Video’s acclaimed “shoot” interviews, which is why I will be posting our dialogues in segments, rather than in whole. The fragments of this interview will compound a much larger project that I am in the process of constructing, one that explores the controversial history of XPW. Granted – in the end, XPW failed, and eventually folded in 2003. However, during its existence, it produced possibly the most avid debate the world of US indy wrestling has recently witnessed. It all started with a pornography mogul named Rob Black. Along the way, names such as Tracy Smothers, Sabu, The Sandman, Shane Douglas, Chris Candido, Jerry Lynn, Juventud Guerrera, and Abdullah the Butcher worked for the promotion. XPW at one point had a nationwide TV deal with America One and it’s home videos were distributed nationwide before those of ECW were. Even with all of these advantages, XPW eventually shut down, but not even it’s bankruptcy has curtailed the mutterings about it. In the next half a year, learn about the formation, the rise, and the ultimate fall of a promotion that at one point had everything going for it. From the beginnings of Rob Black to his friendship with ECW’s Paul Heyman, from the formation of XPW to the signings of stars such as Sabu, Shane Douglas, and Chris Candido, from the interpromotional agreements with ECW and FMW to the TV deals with America One, KJLA, and WGTW, from the creations of indy stars like The Messiah, “The Rock Superstar” Kaos, and “The Hardcore Homo” Supreme to the controversies of Supreme’s injury, Vic Grimes’ 40 foot fall, and the New Year’s Revolution 2 scandal, from the invasion of Philadelphia to the eventual folding – it, and so much more – is all here…“Five Years Later – The Roots, The History, and The Controversy of Rob Black’s XPW.” Featuring – insightful contributions from XPW alumni such as GQ Money and Johnny Webb, along with words from Verne Langdon, who trained The Messiah, Johnny Webb, Homeless Jimmy, Angel, Damien Steele, Dynamite D, Carlito Montana, and others; NEVER-BEFORE-SEEN, pre-XPW photos of the XPW stars such as The Messiah, Johnny Webb, Kaos, Homeless Jimmy, Supreme, and Angel; and a great deal more. Fans are encouraged to PM me or e-mail me at [email protected] photographs they took at XPW events. Whether they be pics of themselves with friends at XPW shows, themselves posing with XPW wrestlers, photos they took of XPW wrestlers in the ring, whatever...it's all encouraged, and will be used in the Photo Gallery section of the retrospective. Credit will of course be given for photos that are used. This retrospective would not be possible without the help of many people, among them GQ Money, Johnny Webb, Verne Langdon, Steve Bryant, Sean McCartney, EMAX/Ethan, and Chris Hamrick. And now…part three of my interview with former-XPW worker GQ Money, known to some as “Devilish” Lee Handsome… This part of the interview was conducted on Saturday, March 29, 2003: ME: Let's talk about the XPW side of things. You joined the Enterprise soon after it had already been formed by TJ, Veronica, and Steve Rizzono. At the time, they were feuding with Kaos and they were costing him bouts and all that. You debuted during Rizzono/Kaos at Retribution. What did you think about your reaction? People probably were clueless as to who you were, right? GQ: Yeah. Things got crazy when Rizzono got knocked out. I was supposed to interfere, hit Kaos with a chair, and roll Rizzono on to Kaos for the win, but Rizzono was really out, and Kaos just kind of "changed things," blocked my chair, and started kicking my ass. It was fun...it was cool…and in the end, the same thing that was originally planned happened, and that was have it all be a "work" of The Enterprise, as Kaos was with us all along. It played out the same, but that scene got a little ad-libbed. People had no clue who I was and I got the reaction of..."You just debuted and got your ass kicked!!!!!!" ME: At Damage Inc., you wrestled your second match for XPW, and it was against Kaos. We’ll talk about your first actual match in XPW soon, but regarding your Damage Inc. match – Were you nervous? What did you think of the match and of your involvement in it (it was handicap, gauntlet style). GQ: I loved it...I step up with guys like Kaos and guys like Smokey and guys like Angel, so I felt great. I was confident, and was ready to have some fun. Plus, just for shits and giggles, I designed this ridiculous tights get up, with "GQ" written on my ass, thanks to Veronica, and I was stoked. I looked like an ass, and I knew my heat was gonna be strong. Plus, no one had seen me wrestle, so I popped this somersault leg scissors into a springboard to the outside so people were like, "Damn!" They weren't expecting that. And then Kaos took over and I took some good bumps, had some good selling, and I think that's when people actually got into my character. ME: But some other things also occurred that night. MANY, in fact. Firstly, it was Homeless Jimmy's last XPW show. What happened with him? GQ: He wanted to call it quits. He had taken a lot of crazy bumps and his body was feeling it. He said he wanted to retire... ME: He is still wrestling, though. GQ: Yeah, like any wrestler, it's in you and it's hard to give up. He moved back home to Ohio to spend some time with family down there. We used to hang out - I saw 4th of July fireworks with him (2001, I think). ME: The Messiah also left shortly before that show. You've criticized him in interviews before. What were things like between you two? GQ: That was crazy because it came out of nowhere. I remember the day before we were all scrambling to make that video that was at the start of the show. Everyone stepped up to try to make some sense of the crazy commotion. Him and I were acquaintances. We definitely hung out a lot, because I became friends with some of his friends. I never really called him to hang on my own or nothing, but we were cool and we got along...My talking shit about him in interviews was so much more work then anything else. I said things like he was overrated, but that was my opinion and I expressed it. As a person, he was always real cool, really nice, and really friendly. He called me after that and I told him - I said, "Look, I played a character in the interview.” I talked honest, but still in the voice of my character. I probably backed over my words with him, as I realized what I did may not have been cool, but we were still all good. I had seen him since then and we still got along. In fact he shot on me, too, and I thought it was funny. ME: In an interview, he seemed to say that he offered to defend the KOTDM and XPW world title at Damage Inc, another wards wrestle two matches that night. Now, I certainly may've misunderstood him there, but I don't know. Do you know if that’s true? GQ: At that point, I had no idea what was going on with the matches, as my involvement that show was more in terms of the set, and the TV production. That's a him and Rob thing, and I don't know. ME: Messiah cited in his SCU interviews that he didn't get along with Rob and that that was why he left XPW. Do you know if that was true? GQ: When I first got there, I thought he did, but - hey - that's just my perception, so that really has no credibility. I don't know. This part of the interview was conducted on Tuesday, April 8, 2003: ME: Lets talk about Sabu and Josh Lazie's departure the day after Damage Inc. Do you want to give any info on why they left and/or what your feelings were about them leaving? GQ: I still wasn't fully involved back then, so my knowledge of their departure is pretty much nil. I didn't know either of them very well. ME: The next show was Halloween In Hell 2 (a.k.a. Blown To Hell) and, of course, that's where you and Angel shocked everyone. What was with that match? Why'd you guys work so well together there? Many fans viewed it as a pleasant surprise, considering that neither of you had worked together before. GQ: Angel and I knew we wanted to go out there and impress the hell out of everyone. We had a good chemistry together, and we were both wanting to prove ourselves as wrestlers, and not just comedic sidekicks. It was embedded in our brains for the few weeks leading up that we were going to go out there and try to steal the show. If it wasn't the best match of the night, we were going to make sure that people left there with a new perception of both of us and our skills. ME: That same night Kaos had his first TV title defense vs. New Jack. Were either of you nervous going in? GQ: Hell yeah...I was! I remember that morning when I went to the office to pick up some stuff, Kevin told me Jack was jumping off the tower on me and I was like, "AWWW Shit! That's cool." And then I already knew I wanted to blade for the first time, so it was pretty crazy. Shit, when I went down from the hit, I went to blade, but I was getting no blood. I'm thinking to myself, "Oh, fuck! This is New Jack...if I don't get up bleeding, he's gonna Mass Transit my ass," so I did it again and then "Bam!" - the juice started flowing and flowing and flowing. That's why I wore the white shirt. I knew I wanted it to get bloody...and it did. The whole experience was awesome. The whole blood felt really cool and it was my birthday at midnight that night. After this, GQ goes and prepares for his match vs. Smokey Charmichael. This part of the interview was conducted on Thursday, May 22, 2003: ME: The next show XPW show after Halloween In Hell 2 was Retribution, at which you wrestled Preston Ascott III and Angel in a three-way dance. What did you think of that match? GQ: Nothing really sticks out about that show...but I enjoyed the match. I wore an intentionally very stupid outfit that show. The match was fun and I enjoyed it. Ascott always entertained me. He wasn't a tremendous wrestler, but I always thought of him as very entertaining. He was cool. Real quiet, keeping to himself. He liked to read. He was real nice. BONUS MATERIAL~! The following part of the interview was conducted on Wednesday, June 4, 2003: ME: What are your memories of the Sabu Invitational House Show at EA Headquarters, the day before Damage Inc.? Who was invited? It was your debut match in XPW (you wrestled Angel). How did your match go, etc.? GQ: Me and Angel went over some stuff for like a few minutes before (the show started). Then BOOM - we were out there. (I) had a blast, though. Working with Angel was a treat. As usual, I did the J-O-B, but the match was good, especially for so spur of the moment. I was kind of nervous...if I remember correctly, I really wasn't expecting to wrestle, but once we started, I had fun. I actually slipped off the rope doing the tight-rope walking elbow (drop), but it was all good...didn't matter. It was all a bunch of Japanese tourists (who were at the show). They were all quiet and clapped for spots and "Ooooohhhhh"'ed and "Ahhhhhhh"'ed. ME: Is it true that Messiah was scheduled to wrestle, but no-showed and that - along with his problems with Rob - got him fired? GQ: I'm not exactly sure what happened, but, yeah - he was supposed to wrestle Sabu. ME: What happened between Pogo the Clown and Shaggy 2 Dope of The Insane Clown Posse? Shaggy apparently got really pissed off when Pogo hurt him with a stiff lariat at Retribution. Was Shaggy really angry and did they have any argument or anything like that in the locker room after the incident? Shaggy bashed Pogo on the ICP web site after the incident, too. GQ: There was no actual incident or no argument. And we were told that there really was no heat at all.
