Things that make you go "WTF?": NBC just promoted its airing of The Family Man as a holiday favourite. When the hell did that happen? I think "holiday favourite," I think of It's A Wonderful Life, or Miracle On 34th Street, or Christmas Vacation, or even Scrooged or The Ref. I don't think of The Family Man. I barely even acknowledge the existence of The Family Man.

I've actually never played a platform wrestling game. The only ones I've ever played were all in arcades: - Mat Mania/Exciting Hour, which I could play for hours on end. I actually did play for a solid hour once. I think I had nearly 20 title defenses. - The Main Event, which was a fun precursor to WWF Superstars using generic characters. - WWF Superstars. - WWF Wrestlefest, which was awesome, especially in Royal Rumble mode. The steel cage match in tag team mode was cool, too. - WWF WrestleMania, which wasn't really a wrestling game at all, but an attempt to cash in on the Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat craze. It was OK as video games went.

Hey, it's the annual Black Friday thread. We're waiting for Boxing Day to get our new LCD flat panel. Or possibly Super Bowl week -- prices on TVs always go down further then. My wife and I are forgoing Christmas presents to each other to buy one.

The NFL sure got this one right... Tom Nalen was fined $25K by the league for diving at Igor Olshansky's knees during a spike play on the Broncos' final drive Sunday, while Olshansky was fined only $10K for throwing a punch at Nalen that drew a personal foul and an ejection. I saw the replay of that incident, and it was disgusting. Nalen should have been suspended for that. I can't even condone that from someone on my favourite team.
