I hadn't heard that rumour. It would certainly make it a lot easier for me to go back to the Leafs. Juwhaaaaaaaaa? I never knew that. I never heard the Quinn thing either. 2-1 Sabres with 30 to play. Yeah, I grew up as a Leafs fan. I was living and dying with them in the '93 and '94 playoffs when I was in university.

Living in Canada was terrific for wrestling fans in the late 80s. In addition to the WWF shows, there was a weekly IWA show (Dino Bravo's promotion run out of Montreal), plus TSN had the AWA and Stampede weekly shows, as well as Pro Wrestling Plus (the Canadian Pro Wrestling This Week, but hosted by the terrific Ed Whalen). I remember that I didn't get Wrestling Challenge on cable for the first couple of years I was a fan -- the Syracuse/Watertown channels only had Superstars -- and I had to rely on being able to pull it in on UHF out of Rochester, which didn't always work.

Those are all local markets that can't show a game in the early timeslot because their team is playing over on the other network.

Or any other 1/2 matchup in history. I guess it's more significant because it's one of the great rivalries, but, eh. To be fair, if it's the game of THIS century, they only have to go back six years.

No way is it that lopsided. I'll say 4-3 Buffalo, just like the last time they played.

Joe Girardi and Jim Leyland won NL and AL Manager of the Year today. I hope Girardi takes his award to Miami and shoves it up Jeff Loria's ass.

The current Lalime, no. I'll take the '02-'03 Lalime back, though.

If he pitched over 200 innings, he averaged over seven innings per start.

That's quite petty, actually, since the Japanese season is sixteen games shorter than the MLB season.

I saw that mentioned on TMQ today. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

Bryan Murray has had a hard-on for Gerber ever since they were in Anaheim together, and is in complete denial.

Just for shits and giggles, since I can't pick worth a damn this season: Minnesota at Miami: Both teams look like they're headed back toward where everyone thought they'd be before the season started. Dolphins 23, Vikings 10. Chicago at NY Jets: Should be interesting, but the Bears are clearly better on both sides of the ball. Bears 31, Jets 20. Atlanta at Baltimore: Why the hell does every coach in Atlanta suddenly think Vick is the next Dan Marino? If they stick with that game plan, they're getting slaughtered. Ravens 27, Falcons 6. Pittsburgh at Cleveland: I think this will be closer than people might think. Steelers 20, Browns 17. Buffalo at Houston: Letdown from the Indy game + going on the road = another Buffalo loss. Texans 21, Bills 13. Oakland at Kansas City: This should be pretty unwatchable. Chiefs 16, Raiders 3. Tennessee at Philadelphia: The Eagles need a win here and get it. Eagles 27, Titans 13. New England at Green Bay: Until it actually happens, I can't see the Pats losing three in a row, especially when they're playing a team they should beat. Patriots 28, Packers 17. St. Louis at Carolina: Damned if I know. I guess I'll pick against St. Louis on the road. Panthers 24, Rams 16. Cincinnati at New Orleans: New Orleans could use a win, but this is pretty much the season for Cincinnati. However, I don't think they'll get the road win here. Saints 33, Bengals 31. Washington at Tampa Bay: Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Uh...Bucs 14, Redskins 10. Bucs will score both their TDs on pick sixes off the new guy. Seattle at San Francisco: The Niners usually play well at home. I'm calling the upset...49ers 24, Seahawks 23. Detroit at Arizona: Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, part deux. Lions 34, Cardinals 14. Indianapolis at Dallas: The '72 Dolphins are sweating. They deserve it, bunch of miserable bitter old men. Oh, the pick...Colts 27, Cowboys 17. San Diego vs. Denver: I'm a bit scared about this game, but I'll take my boys at home. Broncos 34, Chargers 31 on a last-second Elam field goal. NY Giants at Jacksonville: Who knows? I sure don't. Giants 27, Jaguars 21.

Why does Bud Light even bother to advertise in Canada? Expat Americans who still can't handle Canadian beer? You got me.

Those ads are awful. Whoever thought of them should be fired.

I know Adonis used an atomizer as a weapon against Piper during the buildup to their WMIII match, but I don't know if he carried it to the ring on a regular basis.

Roy Mlakar was on the radio this morning saying he's just going to wait out the Sens' problems, essentially saying they'll just fix themselves. My frustration level with the team is growing daily.
-
I think it has to be Peyton Manning. He's got a team that looks to be significantly inferior to last year's team to 9-0 again. And, of course, he's at or near the top of most statistical categories. He's playing better football than I think I've ever seen from him, which is saying something. Honourable mention to Brian Urlacher, Drew Brees and Tiki Barber. Oh, and LaDainian Tomlinson.

I listened to it a bit on the radio. This is quite possibly the most talented bad team in league history. Stupid penalties leading to Montreal putting the game nearly out of reach. ANOTHER shorthanded goal given up. ANOTHER soft goal by Gerber -- did anyone see Johnson's goal? He was almost at the blue line! Yeah, Kovalev's goal was an empty-netter.

I've made my feelings about the NFL's rules on celebrating known before, but the penalty they just called on Tampa Bay for celebrating an interception was ludicrous. I can't even see what they did wrong. I mean, yeah, some of the celebrations are really outlandish and ridiculous, and I can see why they want to get rid of them, even if I don't always agree. But these aren't robots out there. I don't want to watch every single player in the league flip the ball to the official and walk off without showing any emotion. I like seeing players get pumped up about a big play in a close game. It shows they care. I don't want to watch a bunch of guys who never look like they care.

It's hard to root for two chicks who basically have "everything" to get some more. Win or lose this race they'll end up marrying some rich dudes and end up with a house with a white picket fence, a dog and 2.3 children anyway. Bold prediction: The Barbies don't make the Final 3. They'd have to mess up pretty badly for that to happen. I don't see it. Nor do I want to.
