  1. More to the point, it's the first time they've done it since the last time they missed the playoffs.
  2. The Sens lost a one goal game! They blew two two-goal leads! They gave up a shorthanded goal! Stop me if any of this sounds familiar!
  3. It was unquestionably Raw. I remember watching it when it happened. It was a week before Jericho beat HHH for the title.
  4. Louisville Central Michigan Minnesota Purdue Wisconsin Arkansas Colorado Pittsburgh Maryland Nebraska Washington State Oregon State Florida State USC 41/179
  5. Fun fact: If the playoffs started today, there would be six new teams from last year (Atlanta, Toronto, Washington and Pittsburgh in the East, and Minnesota and Vancouver in the West). Also, only 3 Canadian teams would qualify for the playoffs right now.
  6. Commies like Bob Rae.
  7. I heard that on the radio this morning. We've got no shot tonight against Atlanta with a struggling Gerber in net. They might put 6 or 7 past him.
  8. Thank you. No love for the Hip reference? EDIT: Wikipedia and Google check out. Fuck, that's a load off my mind. Thanks, CC and Invader. ...where the great plains begin. Hey, that fits in with Winnipeg, too.
  9. Yeeowch. And I thought I'd dug myself a nice hole, running up over $30K on various credit cards and lines of credit four years ago. Another small tip for all you kids out there: If you make all your payments, you can rebuild your credit rating a lot quicker than if you don't. My wife and I went from credit scores under 600 to ones over 700 (in her case, nearly 800) in two years.
  10. Tragedy for Miami...just reported on ESPN.com:
  11. I saw the end of whatever race they did at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. I can't believe Tony Stewart can win 3 straight races just because none of the guys in the playoff want to mess up their spot in the standings and go after a win. I have to say, any sport where you're rewarded more for trying not to lose than trying to win is one I don't want to watch.
  12. It has to be Wally Karbo. It fits in with Winnipeg, too, since the 'Peg was a huge AWA town.
  13. Have you even seen Denver the last two weeks? This might have been the worst Monday night game of all time.
  14. There's only 30 teams. It's getting near the point where something has to be done in Ottawa. They blew a 3-0 lead to the fucking CAPITALS. They're now 1-6-1 in games decided by two goals or fewer. They're also 13th in the East, ahead of only Boston and Philadelphia.
  15. So, seven episodes to undo the Marshall and Lily breakup. Fewer than I expected, frankly. Now the writers can get busy breaking up Ted and Robin. Although, judging by the second half of last season, that's not something I'm really sure I want to see.
  16. Slater's drunk. Or high. Take your pick. Shocking, I know.
  17. I'm just in awe of anyone who can finish a marathon, let alone run it in under three hours. I laughed when I saw his bib -- instead of a number, it said "LANCE".
  18. You're right, the remark was uncalled for. I apologize. You still can't make a case that any of the teams you've mentioned should be ranked ahead of Louisville, though. USC hasn't played a good game since beating Nebraska, with the exception of the Stanford game (which isn't an indicator of anything except the fact they were playing Stanford). Cal got stomped in their biggest game of the year, although they've come back exceptionally well. Notre Dame got stomped by Michigan, who has turned out to be better than expected, but they haven't played anyone else of note except Georgia Tech. Hell, they couldn't blow out the second-worst team in the worst BCS conference out there on their own field! Louisville, meanwhile, thoroughly embarrassed Miami, and has the biggest W of the year of anyone so far over West Virginia. At this point, I put Louisville a smidgen ahead of Cal, and clearly ahead of USC. Frankly, Notre Dame isn't even in the discussion for me.
  19. I was expecting Piper to win, but from all accounts, he clearly didn't belong in a wrestling ring tonight.
  20. I'm surprised they didn't just blow off the poll and go with Dusty for that match. It's not like they've got a representative from the accounting firm of Ernst and Young backstage checking results.
  21. And another fourth-place finish.
  22. Brady should have quick-snapped there. This is getting overturned, and Indy is getting the ball back.
  23. "Without overhyping it, this is like Van Gogh and Michelangelo in a paint-off." Thanks for not overhyping it, Al.
  24. I didn't...I wanted them to get eliminated, and they did. My wife was out-and-out in tears, though. I like the Intersection. It's a neat little twist. I especially liked that the two teams I like the most (BQs and Chos) teamed up, instead of saddling them with the other two teams. I was actually thinking the FF teams might even finish last. That looked like hell. I couldn't have done it.
