The huge problem they have right now is they won't have a big marquee win on the road. Texas going into the Horseshoe and beating tOSU was huge, especially at the time because it was a meeting of two top-5 teams, and probably clinched them a Rose Bowl berth if they win out, just because it stuck out, and will continue to stick out, so much in the minds of the voters.
If Texas wins out, they have road wins over Ohio State, Missouri and Texas A&M to go along with convincing home wins over Texas Tech and Colorado. Not all world-beaters, but good teams. VA Tech's biggest road win would probably be West Virginia. Every win over a ranked team would come at home or at a neutral site (ACC championship).
