Hyperbole much?
-
Yes, because this guy was clearly an idiot with no reason beyond his control to act the way he did.

Wasn't that "ad" from Sex and the City?

I once saw a newscaster pronounce "awry" as "awe-ry". It amused me.

http://news.scotsman.com/index.cfm?id=2303072005 George Best , the ex-Northern Ireland, Manchester United and Hibernian footballer, has died in hospital. The 59 year-old had been on a life support machine since last Friday. Best was admitted to the Cromwell Hospital in west London on 1 October with flu-like symptoms. He developed a kidney infection and, after a brief improvement, his health deteriorated further. He was taken into intensive care after picking up a lung infection. Best had suffered from years of alcohol abuse and three years ago underwent a liver transplant. However, he continued to drink. Best asked that a picture of him in hospital be published as a warning to others about the dangers of alcohol abuse. The picture was published on the front page of the News of the World accompanied by the caption "Don't die like me". Best is still regarded as one of the most talented players of all time. He scored 180 goals in 465 appearances for Manchester United and lifted the European Cup in 1968, the same year he was named European Footballer of the Year. Towards the end of his career, Best came north with a move to Edinburgh club Hibernian. He played his first game in November 1979 against Partick Thistle before a crowd of 22,000 - vastly up on Hibs' usual home gate of 8,000-9,000. His time in Edinburgh was short-lived, however, lasting only until October 1980. He retired from football at the age of 27.

I bumped into Sam Neill at the airport a couple of months ago.

I'll be sure to pick this up if it ends with everyone who was involved in the production of the film being executed.

Yeah, but those movies were geared more towards the adult audience. First and Foremost, the studio sees the Harry Potter movis as being for kids. And most kids won't sit through four hours. Though, since the later stories are more fro older kids, I don't think they'd have to much trouble making it a 3-4 hour movie. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But, by the same token, who would think kids would read 800 page books? Perhaps we underestimate their attention span. Just stick an Intermission in the middle there - I think they'd still watch.
-
What if they just made it a really long movie? People watched Lawrence of Arabia and Gone with the Wind.

I'm 6' and weigh 136 lbs. Which is pretty near the border of healthy and underweight.

Australian Terror Suspects Arrested
spiny norman replied to Prime Time Andrew Doyle's topic in Current Events
I would far prefer Costello as leader than Howard. In fact, aside from Tony Abbott, there's not a single person in the Liberal Party I think would be worse than Howard. He's surpassing McMahon for the spot of Worst Prime Minister ever. As for best, I can think of many better than Hawke. Curtin, Chifley, Menzies, Fraser and Keating would all be ahead of him in my book, along with the true greatest Prime Minister ever - Gough. Anyway, the IR reforms are bullshit and I can not believe you would think otherwise. They can not be justified and there is absolutely no reason for them. How can you defend the abolition of unfair dismissal laws? Your basic workers' rights shall be lost. It's the most disgraceful thing he has ever done, and as soon as Labor puts forward a leader with some balls the Liberals are losing the next election. -
Movies that will make you think of

Or, alternately, "Foods that will make you think of Eddie Guerrero". -
I think the first portion of that extract is meant to be hyperbolic.

That's one of the worst sentences I've ever read. Anyway, I hope it is good. I like Bana and Rush, but the former too rarely goes in good movies (well movies full stop, but I always feel at worst he's the best thing in a bad movie).

I don't know if it's breaking the rules of the road (except in that you're speeding), but it's certainly being a wanker, that's for sure.

This is going to be bloody awesome. I always thought Goblet of Fire was when the books went from really good and entertaining to absolutely fantastic. That said, it was the first book I had to wait for to read (as I only started reading after Prisoner of Azkaban came out).
