I like CSI but I think Without a Trace is far and away the best procedurial.

I'm no expert, but $48 million is a lot of fucking money. What's with all the "bomb" talk? I fucking hate Tom Cruise, but I'm not deluded enough to think the guy isn't the biggest single box office draw in the world. 48 million is a bomb when you look at previous Tom Cruise openings, previous MI openings, previous openings for the first weekend in May and previous openings for movies of this genre. I love Tom Cruise, but this opening is a big dissapointment.

Hell of a nice win by the Nets. They let the Heat kind of get back into it, but regrouped and easily put the game away.

I think if he didn't jump off the couch, it wouldn't be that bad. The Lauer interview also didn't help. I have a feeling this is it for the MI franchise. I really think Cruise should take some smaller roles or do smaller movies to show he can act.

The figure for the Paramount franchise film was almost identical to the $16.5M that its predecessor MI2 grossed on its first Friday during the Memorial Day frame in 2000. Ticket prices were much lower six years ago plus the second Ethan Hunt pic debuted on a Wednesday which softened its Friday performance. Given MI3's Friday bow, higher ticket prices, and 400 additional theaters, industry expectations saw the new installment opening with more muscle. Mission III's opening day gross fell a bit below those of some other recent star-driven summer spy flicks. Matt Damon's The Bourne Supremacy opened in July 2004 with a Friday take of $19.1M on its way to a $52.5M weekend while last June's Mr. & Mrs. Smith bowed to $18.6M leading to a $50.3M frame. This weekend, Tom Cruise and pals may find themselves with $45-50M over the Friday-to-Sunday period.

Haha, the movie's opening was a dissapointment. The general consensus was MI2 came out was that it was better then the first one, and I remember there was a lot of backlash against the first one when it came out.
