The reason I didn't order the show wasn't because JBL was main eventing - I'm actually a pretty big JBL fan - but that the rest of the card was total shit. I remember Eddy/Rey vs Bashams, Booker vs Heidenreich, some 5 minute cruiserweight thing, and a bunch of faceless diva crap. I'm not going to pay $35 for that. Especially when blowoffs to the PPV matches are given on free TV - see Booker vs Heidenreich from this weeks Smackdown and I believe there was a tag title rematch on the show after No Way Out. They need to stop doing things like that, stop wasting time on diva crap that nobody cares about, have bigger cards (there are usually 5/6 matches pre-announced for a PPV, maybe 7). Why not split that cruiserweight mess into a six man tag and a title match? Why not have the big Booker/Heidenreich blowoff at the PPV? It makes no sense and it is a waste of money to order these shows. So yeah, JBL deserves some of the blame. So does Big Show, by that logic. But the "creative"/booking team deserves the lions share of the blame because it was their fault it was a shitty card that nobody in their right mind would pay $35 for. That is why buyrates are sinking. Smaller, shittier shows for tons of money when the blow off matches are on free TV. Fuck that shit.

It's incredible! Hooray for ROH! They are sooooo awesome! BOOK IT GABE LOL! OMFG MATCH OF THE YEAR CANDIDATE! ROH forever! Though I will say that the chance of a Strong/Danielson match does interest me.

Since I'll assume this will just be the all-encompassing Smackdown thread, I'll comment in here. Hot damn that main event tag was good. Tons of cool offense, a fun face in peril segment, JBL charisma goodness, one of the best set ups for the 619 yet (trip -> stumble), and an inventive finish that makes me want to see a rematch and doesn't give away a blowoff like they did with Booker/Heidenreich. Post match Cena run in was neat too. How does Raw get any love? Seriously, this match was better than any of the so called "great" matches from 2004 Raw. Most Smackdown matches are.

Agreed. Rugby is fast paced, violent, manly, and all things good. Plus, it is pretty easy to understand (in a sense of "get the ball down the field" - some of the rules and such can get confusing). I really wish sports networks would show more of it.

I disagree. Dupree is worlds ahead of Orton. Orton can't involve the crowd in his matches beside teenage shrieks, he often works long restholds into his matches, he can't sell worth shit (see the leg against HHH at the Royal Rumble), and his moveset is bland (he has the reverse headlock into midsection dealy, RKO, and punches). Dupree's moveset is almost equally bland, but I feel the way that he works it in to his matches is worlds ahead of Orton. As far as Cena is concerned, Cena is stuck big time into his formula which does work for crowd reactions and such but as far as quality is concerned really hampers his matches, and I'd say he is about equal with Dupree for charisma. I'll go on record saying this: Dupree/Taker is better than Orton/Taker will be. On a side note, jesus christ I did not realize I liked Dupree this much.

I like him. He has excellent facials (insert a Patterson joke here) and is a really good slimy heel. I could see him becoming a solid main eventer just by being more of a jerk who is incidentally French, instead of just being a little bit of a jerk who is FRENCH OMG GAY BOO. I really liked his match with Undertaker a few months back on Smackdown - I think it was the first round of the Number one contenders tournament. Dupree is very good at the fundamentals like selling and facials.

Absolutely awesome episode. There is so much going into this one that I had trouble keeping up at times. Goddamned awesome. That is all.

Yeah, no thread for this yet, so all-encompassing match thoughts can go in here. Hassan and Masters are nowhere near TV ready is what I got from their matches. Hassan fucked up an irish whip, nuff said. Masters stood around and then locked in a full nelson, which is the weakest damn thing in the world. Neither guy has any presence - just stand there and then whiff on moves. Hoorah. Ladder match for no reason! AWESOME! YES! RANDOM! Anyone else hear Superstar Billy Graham say "wrestlers"? Funny. The wrestlers are superstars, the superstar is a wrestler. A++ Edge got fucking buried. Big move after big move on Bloody McCripple. Weapons shots, low blows, big ass splashes, spears, everything he had. And HBK wins. Pointless. John Walters wasn't the biggest jobber on Raw - that dignity goes to Edge. There were several great chances to end the match positively with a big win for Edge. The splash and the spear were two really good examples of that. HBK doesn't need the win, he is over anyways and established. Edge NEEDS a top tier win. And with an HBK loss, Angle attacking him post match would (A) make Angle more dastardly and heartless, and (B) make HBK more sympathetic. Dumb dumb dumb. All Raw did was remind me how far below Smackdown it is. Depressing.

He fucked up an _IRISH WHIP_.

I haven't even heard of this "Diary of a Mad Black Woman". What is it?

Not trying to veer this thread off topic, but defenses in Germany, Switzerland, against NJPW wrestlers, Canada, and being fought over in some of the best matches in 2004 would indeed make it a "World" title. And to stay on topic: I agree that the Honky Tonk Man days are dead. It's boring and pointless. If someone is going to have a long run with the belt, they need at least some clean wins. I like the JBL character and I have liked many of his title matches, but would it have killed them to have him win the Armageddon four way cleanly and decisively? I understand the thinking of the money is in the chase (I understand it, I don't agree with it) but if the good guy is chasing someone who means nothing, the ultimate result means nothing.

Absolutely loved the episode. There was so many little things going on that at times it was hard for me to focus on the big, main thing. And that is indeed some damn good work. Jin fucking shined like a king. I loved how he wasn't made out to be an asshole - he is a good guy, he did the right thing, and he is doing his best for his wife. The way that the scene with his father played into his relationship with Sun and her dad was absolutely wonderful, that was probably my favorite scene of the entire episode. As far as Jin not fucking anybody up or fighting back, I'm not sure if that really fits his character. It would if he were the mighty mafia hitman we thought he was post-Sun episode, but now we can see that he is just a fishermans son who is trying to please his wife. He ain't no kung fu thrilla like Sayid or Sawyer or Jack or Locke, he is pretty much a normal guy who got in over his head. And I completely agree with the Locke thing. He shows up out of nowhere, dishes out perfect advice, and disappears. Incredible. And I cannot wait for next weeks episode. Hurley rocks. That is all I have to say about that.

Are/were you a wrestling fan, and if so who is/was your favorite wrestler?

Killed any interest I may ever have had in your fed right there, buddy.

When he got out of the limo, I thought it was Orton. Ditto. I thought they were doing some attempt at being funny and continuing the concussion angle.

Jesus titty-fucking Christ. I am buying these shows as soon as they are out at SMV. Nuff said. Edit: http://www.whacks.bizland.com//Chikara/TWGP/2night/TWGP.html Those are the Night Two pics. I love this. http://www.whacks.bizland.com//Chikara/TWGP/3night/TWGP.html And night three.

Masters is identical to Orton, has no talent, and his finisher is a full nelson. LAME beyond belief. Smackdown is sooo second-rate. Or at least in WWE's mind. I like it more than Raw myself. Obviously nobody in WWE land does. Seriously, it makes NO SENSE to continue to bury Smackdown like that. And while I kind of liked the Batista turn, you and I both know he'll be another generic face soon enough. Too bad.

7.675 million too much.

A guy on DVDVR made the perfect comparison. This is completely the same as Poochie. Scratchy: Ooh, Poochie is one outrageous dude. Itchy: He's totally in my face.

Forgettable? FORGETTABLE? FORGETTABLE!?!? To you sir I say, "say whaaaaat?" I absolutely loved this episode. Not on the top tier with the Locke episode, the original Sawyer episode, last weeks, or the one after Christmas break (I really need to start learning episode names), but definitely really good. And still worthy of a list. 1. The "I Never" scene. Funny, revealed character stuff, entertaining, and culminated in the murder revelation. Beauty. 2. Sawyer on the whole. Carried this episode on his back. ON HIS BACK I SAY. 3. Sawyer and Jack's dad in the bar. Sawyer and the Shrimp store the first time through. Both quality, intense scenes. 4. Sawyer BAM BAM BAM shoots the guy in the chest. COLD FUCKING BLOODED. 5. Locke coming up with the strangest, most random and off-topic story ever. Until, that is, later in the episode with the Sawyer/boar staredown. Then it makes perfect sense. Locke is abso-fucking-lutely genius/insane/evil/good. 6. "You ever have Gulf War Syndrome?" "That was the other side." "Oh." I love me my Hurley/Sayid conversations. 7. Musical score continues to rock. Particularily in the Sawyer/shrimp scenes. Good stuff. 8. Loved the quick shot of Micheal's raft. I had totally forgotten about it, and it seems to be the center of next weeks episode. Really cool. 9. Sawyer giving Jack the gun at the end. See? Sawyer isn't a bad person, see? See? Loved the dad conversation too. 10. Best use of Kate yet, methinks. A lot of times she is overdone to the max when involved in an episode, but this didn't feel like that. Best use of her yet. BONUS 11. Locke knows where the guns are. I can't get this off of my mind - Jack put them back where he had them originally. This has to lead to something. And it will, I am sure of it.

Destination X matches announced tonight at tapings
Tawren replied to JoeDirt's topic in TNA Wrestling
They NEED to fight into Dr. Seuss-land. Need to. BTW, not ordering this show (continuing the streak~). Might have if it was the rumored one night X Division tourney - not this crap, though. -
Angle/Cena had a good match back at No Mercy 2003. Obviously, many people have forgotten about it, but it was pretty good. On the high end of 2003 WWE for sure. Angle/HBK will not touch it.

Fuck both sides. Even if the NHL comes back, and I mean ever so not just this year, I am done watching. They don't want my business, they don't get my business. They knew from the start when the deal expired and they didn't start negotiating until when? The Friday before? They had several years to do it. So fuck em. I have tons of hockey to watch. Local, national, international, all over the place. Fuck em.
