  2. I'm positive the Phillies are winning the Wild Card or the East this year. A lot of bad things, as usual, have happened to the team, but there's been way too many surprise positive happenings for this to not be the year.
  3. It was still one of the coolest debuts ever, despite Rock outclassing him on the mic.
  4. Thoughts on AUGUST 8th Marvel Books: Incredible Hulk (109) kinda sucked for the first time in a while this month. Just so much re-hash and nothing much went down except things we've already seen happen in other WWH books. X-Factor (22) was pretty good, with a surprising anti-hero cameo from Spidey's 1990s past and a killer ending. Daredevil (99) ended a bit flat, I think. It's been rock-solid forever, just not as good as usual (like Hulk). Thoughts on Omega Flight, Ultimate X-Men, Ghost Rider, Nova, Punisher War Journal, New Excalibur, World War Hulk: Frontline, New Avengers, and New Avengers/Transformers forthcoming.
  5. Well at least the smart marks can rejoice that for once, Benoit didn't get buried.
  6. The Phillies tend to lose important games to the Marlins and Nationals EVERY SINGLE YEAR, so I'm just hoping for 2 outta 3 against the Fish, and 2 outta 3 against Atlanta. A sweep would be nice, but with Moyer and Kyle LOhSE pitching, I dunno. Eaton against the Braves won't be pretty, either.
  7. My Top 10 Favorite Marvel books: Spectacular Spider-Man Avengers: The Initiative Captain America Daredevil Iron Fist Thunderbolts Incredible Hulk X-Factor X-Men Cable & Deadpool RIP Irredeemable Ant-Man.
  8. Thanks for your responses. I have Kingdom Come. I liked it a lot. I currently am reading both JLA and JSA. I started reading Detective Comics this month. I think Grant Morrison is an incredible writer, having loved his stuff with The Invisibles and New X-Men, among other books, so I'm checking Batman out, too. I hear Nightwing is awful (comic boards, comicbookresources) and will pass. I'm also going to pass on Flash. Amazons Attack is a dud, I won't be reading it. I'm going to pick up Villains United, OMAC Project, Rann-Thanagar War, and Infinite Crisis. So INFINITE CRISIS ENDS. And then 52 immediately begins and lasts a year. Are the DC books labeled to say "Hey, right here we jumped a year ahead." ? I'm reading GLC and GL now as well as All-Star Superman. Thanks again, I got my regular DC to read.
  9. Given that their #2 and #3 babyfaces are on the shelf, the tag division is dead after LonDrick lost to WGTT, and the Women generally suck, Raw came through with: - An actual interesting battle royal. - Creating a new #2 face. - Booking Carlito to his strengths (his gimmick, not his in-ring work) - A "looks to be a disaster, but turns out funny" game show gimmick - Turning Santino well - A somewhat interesting "Whodunnit?" If you think about it, Raw didn't have a lot to work with tonight. Come on, if you didn't pop for "SPAM!", you suck at life.
  10. Battle Royal. Once Lawler hypes the possibility of Sandman as GM you know he's not taking it. I like Regal as GM. But Sandman as GM would've been much better. Have Sandman win it, drop it to Regal in 2 months. Same old shit on Raw. Fun, unpredictable battle royal, however. Just a dogshit ending.
  11. Yeah the chatroom definitely was pretty cool for Orton/Cody I back a few weeks ago.
  12. I like how they're freshening up the product by doing "Cena on Carlito's Cabana" AGAIN and "Booker Vs. Lawler" AGAIN after last week's epic show...love that brand extension! What a way to build to SummerSlam by featuring 2 guys who won't even be on the show on big roles each week!
  13. I think Jeff threw a tantrum, upset at his embarassingly blown Whisper in the Wind (during a great stretch for him where he wasn't blowing much if anything) , and was disciplined.
  14. It looks like McMahon will be striking back against the Superstar who blew up the limo, according to the WWE.com Preview. Mr. McMahon arrives, ready to strike back By Zack Zeigler Written: August 6, 2007 BUFFALO, N.Y. – Mr. McMahon will strike back tonight on Raw – and he has arrived at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, N.Y. Those Superstars or fans who believed Mr. McMahon’s return to WWE would come via satellite or through an official statement were shocked when a limousine rolled up to the loading dock of the arena, and the Chairman (with all his body parts intact) nonchalantly walked out. Without uttering a word or offering any type of facial expression, Mr. McMahon’s billion dollar strut made a B-line through the entrance of the arena directly to his office. Earlier today, word was handed down by officials that interviews and photography by WWE.com employees were strictly prohibited prior to Mr. McMahon’s appearance on tonight’s Raw. Many Superstars and employees were too anxiety-ridden to discuss what might take place in Mr. McMahon’s first appearance since that fateful night last June in Wilkes Barre, Pa. when his limousine exploded. Most Superstars spent the day in the locker room area or scattered throughout the stands in the arena hoping to steer clear of any accident run-ins they may encounter with the Chairman. Tune in to Raw, live on USA Network at 9/8 CT to see Mr. McMahon strike back. ______ I bolded the last part just to be a prick, as part of my degree deals with professional writing and how you can publish typos on the main site of a near-billion dollar company astounds me.
  15. This is right around the super badass Crazy Man Flair Vs. Rey Mysterio WCW World Title Match from Club La Vela for the 1999 Nitro Spring Breakout. Anyway, I have the shows. I haven't burned those episodes to DVD yet, but I do have them in WMV format complete, so I'll let you know as soon as they get burned. You COULD always go to PWTorrents, where every wrestling PPV, Nitro, Raw, Smackdown, Hardcore TV, and Thunder is/was there in chronological order. That's where I put my entire DVD collections together from.
  16. It'd be cool if Vince strikes back against the shitty product by firing the corny angle/joke writing Hollywood Writers, letting his talent have faster-paced matches, ending the shitastic "brand extension", and signing Jericho to a deal. But I guess seeing a "main eventer" in Kennedy is also a solution or something.
  17. The day the shitty WWE "Brand Extension" ends I have a parade. Any argument for it ends at "3 World Title Belt Defenses Every PPV".
  18. That's absolutely untrue. WWE shows, especially house shows, are pretty family friendly. Aside from seeing a few girls in revealing outfits (and that's been really toned down as of late) and some high school insults, there's nothing wrong with making your child happy by taking them to see people from TV. Televised WWE events are very, very boring, compiled of: Backstage Talk Segments, Commercial Breaks, and Extended Resthold Sequences during Live Commercial Breaks. Paying for a WWE Televised Event (non-PPV) isn't offensive, it's just dumb. House shows are the way to go. Each match on 8-9 match card gets a lot of time to tell a story. Taking children to see UFC or an R-Rated Movie is far more offensive than WWE.
  19. You can PUNT a football a lot further than you can punch it or clothesline it with your arm.* Thus, Orton's punt = dangerous. I'd rather get punched in the face or shoved down than someone takes a running kick at my skull. Quit bitching. ________ By the way, what's with Orton fighting with Cena while LAYING ON HIS BACK and swinging like a kitten playing with yarn? Did the fuckhead trip on the ring apron when he was supposed to be distracting Cena? That looked SO bad. How do you BOTCH getting on the ring apron?
  20. Cody's got the face of "Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer".
  21. See, "Win-Loss Standings" records do matter.
  22. I love Santino selling each Women's Match like it's a PPV main event. Awesome, hope Triple H is ready to go cardio-wise. If so, can't wait.
  23. I change the channel during the Divas match to find the Cubs are bringing in a pitcher named "Rocky Cherry". Gotta be a coincidence.
  24. Who's the last male to be a diva manager...
