Wasn't this a Stuff/Maxim article a year or two ago? And I don't mean same style, I mean verbatim.

Toronto signed Terry Adams. 1yr/1.7 mil.

And all it took this time was being the first halfway big name to come out (sorry Rico). That spot usually never gets a larger than usual response. [/sarcasm]

I look at it this way. If you view the end result as a failure, that means everything leading up to that point is worthless. And if everything leading up to a championship game is worthless, why bother supporting a team until that point? Why bother going to and watching games until that point? If nothing other than a ring matters, then you only need to be a fan for about 3 hours a year if you are lucky.

The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread

Ditto, I found Nina extra foxy tonight, heh Yeah she was. Jack, get over your wife, forget Kate, dump Hector's girl, and go get Nina. Throw in the foxiness with some nice bank from her day job and you have a mighty fine woman. -
The One And Only 24 Season 3 Thread

Maybe they will finally realize how worthless Kim is and get rid of her. I like looking at her, but jesus christ every season I hate her character more and more. -
Having been in both situations with the Eagles, I could not disagree more with that statement. There is nothing worse then having a season where you know they are going to be terrible and having to trudge through it just in the hopes they will be better the next year. The other option gives you hope and reason to care about the season. Do you get crushed in the end? Of course. But I will take that over a 16 week death march.

I laugh, at this point, any time a topic about fans comes up. Just knowing that AS is going to come in with the "if you don't win a championship, it is all a waste" mantra.
-
Side note: Is there any purpose to the whole "I won't vote for a first ballot HOFer unless they are Babe Ruth" sentiment? Someone is either a HOFer or not, who cares about making them wait a year or two.
-
Craig Biggio should be a first ballot HOFer.

Does anyone else get the sense, that if Schilling brings a title to Boston, everyone is going to fall over themselves to get him in? I can't see him not getting in, if he proves to be the final piece of the puzzle.

I just don't like the Panthers matchup. Their strength is the D-Line and the running game. Their DBs are suspect and they aren't a speedy team. That is a dangerous combination going into St. Louis. I do see it, though, if the Carolina front four comes up huge and get to Bulger, he will crumble. They need big games from Steve Smith and the front four. If that happens they have a shot. But they just got a bad draw.

This is going to be a close game. The two biggest arguements I see against the Eagles are silly though. The Westbrook point I already made. He wasn't a factor when they beat GB earlier. Does it hurt not having him? Of course, he was their offensive MVP (I don't care what the players say). Can they beat the Packers without him? Apparently yes. As for the run defense arguement, Ahman Green ran for 192 yards in the firsst meeting and they still won. They have been winning for the last three months, while teams have ran all over them. And as for their schedules in the last 9 games Green Bay Biggest wins: Minnesota, Tampa, SF, Seattle Losses: Philly, Detroit Philadelphia Biggest wins: Dallas, Carolina, Miami, NO, GB Loss: SF I don't see how you can't give the Eagles decisive edge there. This just screams of the idea that wild card teams get to make their statement, while byes get to sit at home. Everyone and their mother sees the 1st round games and gets a good idea in their heads about the winners. The Packers are going to march up and down the field in between the 20s. A couple of those times they will capitalize and a couple they will get FGs. The defense will do enough to keep them in the game and the Eagles offense is much better than given credit for. Freddie Mitchell, Chad Lewis, and LJ Smith should be able to eat them up in the middle of the field (if Seattle WRs would have caught the ball in that area it would have been a romp).
-
Just a reminder, Westbrook was a non-factor in their Monday night matchup. As he was just coming off injury and only had about 5 carries. And Duce Staley came up like a man that game, I don't see why he couldn't do it again.
-
I don't see either team making out like bandits in this deal. The Knicks get a star and like someone already mentioned, their cap is fucked for a while. Marbury, Houston, Van Horn, Thomas, Mutumbo can get them in the playoffs in the pitiful East. The Suns get cap space (20-25 mil). Isn't Steve Nash a FA after this season? Plus Lampje was a lottery pick, if his contract wasn't a mess. Throw in two first rounders and cash and it is hard to say Phoenix didn't get anything good out of this deal.
-
If you can do Green/Barlow do it in a heartbeat.
-
Yeah, Philly would have no chance against the Pack. Even though, when they met, Ahman Green trampled them and they still won. But I am enjoying this, I would much rather see a Chad Brown-less Seattle come into town, instead of Brett Favre.

Great idea for Y2J at Rumble
the pinjockey replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in The WWE Folder
I would also have Christian drag her out, after being eliminated, as opposed to her running out. This way this one grand act wins her over, instead of her gradually coming around and get to this point. This will show how mad she was, since she never warmed back up until seeing him sacrifice everything. And it will also work better for Jericho, since he will have given up everything just for the chance to win Trish over. Instead of he already warmed her back over and he is just protecting her. -
I see no reason to suspect any type of upset from Mandy Moore. If that somehow happened, that is right there 1980 US hockey team in upset lore. How to Deal only grossed 14 mil and A Walk to Remember (I think her biggest movie) only grossed 41 mil. So her films were never big to begin with and her stock is dropping.

If you are going to go that route, at least have Christian grab a mic and make Jericho eliminate himself. This gives a plausible reason that he wouldn't just go through the ropes. And I thought the "can't eliminate yourself" rule was one of those where they just bring it up when they feel like it. -
I would drop Stewart, certainly. At his age, as a RB, you can't count on any good return from injury. And I was considering Bennett over Johnson, but with the performances that Onterrio Smith had at the end of the year, plus Moe Williams still stealing goal line carries, there is too much work being stolen from him to keep him, IMO.

Panthers got a bad draw, having to go to St. Louis. While Steve Smith can burn, they aren't really set up for a fast track game like they will have next week. Their front four is going to have to come up huge next week to relieve the pressure on their CBs. They would have been better having drawn against Philly. Philly's weakness is the Panthers strength (run defense against Davis) and they don't have the WRs to exploit the Carolina CBs.

I also want to point out, I want to throw some mention to the thread hoping it will get that elusive classic status that some people seem to be hesitant to give to it.
-
I'm understanding on this one, because there is no way, from the thread title, you can notice it is the Tomko and Fertig thread.
-
Here I don't want to bump it, since I think that is what the last dozen posts in the thread have been already. But there it is.
