I'll say it again for you: you know fuck-all about constitutional law. A law banning gay marriage is a violation NOT OF THE FIRST AMENDMENT, but of the equal protection clauses of the 5th and 14th amendment. Or at least it will be, once the S.C. finally gets off its ass and finally says that gay marriage is a right (I'm not holding my breath on that one, though). Here's why: just because Christianity doesn't like gay marriage, it does not mean that an anti-gay-marriage law is based on Christian ideology. You could write an anti-gay marriage law that is based entirely on SECULAR reasons. And hey - they HAVE been written. In several states now. This really isn't that hard to follow. Just because you SAY that the motive behind anti-gay marriage is rooted in religious ideology (something I would agree with), that does NOT mean that the law itself is establishing or promoting any particular ideology. If I were to write an law that said "A marriage is defined as a union between a man and a woman, not between two individuals of the same sex", it might be unconstitutional, but for sure not because it ran afoul of the first amendment.

Speaking as someone who is 100% FOR gay marriage, you really don't know shit about Constitutional law. First off, there is no such thing as freedom FROM religion, only that the government won't establish a religion. Second, the Establishment clause is NOT, nor EVER wil be, justification for allowing gay marriage. Do me a favor and read up on constitutional concepts like "equal protection", and "due process". THEN you'll understand the correct way to argue for gay marriage. You'll find out it doesn't have anything to do with your anti-religion biases. Because they're one of the most likely nations on the planet to USE those nukes on us. This really isn't a hard thing to understand. Same reason why we don't want Iran to get nukes. Because they're unstable and prone to either use them on our allies in the region (Israel.....though I don't suppose you'd have a problem with them getting nuked) or sell / supply them to Islamic extremists who'd be willing to bomb us with them. BTW, you pretty much are anti-Semitic, hate to tell you. Anyone who argues that Israel doesn't have a right to exist and spouts off terminology such as "zionist", which IMO is basically the more acceptable form of saying "kike", is a Jew-hater. Interesting idea. Makes me wonder how long the holdouts who support this war would last if the Iraqis start putting American soldiers on trial. Maybe they'll want them to come home sooner in that case. Seeing as no government on earth has authority over our military, I don't really think it will ever be a problem. Our military is quite capable of handling its own. The men will be tried, fairly, and if found guilty, will be dealt with in the manner that they deserve. Unless of course YOU in particular just want to see American soldiers executed by Iraqis. Which wouldn't surprise me.

It may be too late at this point, but if you count worldwide grosses, DaVinci Code had the best shot at beating Titanic. It's made a bit over 200 mill here in the States, but worldwide it's been raking in the cash. However, at this point I think it's probably cooled down enough so that it won't break the record. It's only a matter of time before Titanic is overcome, though.

Here's a possibility......POTC was a better, and certainly more fun and entertaining, film than Superman was. I liked Superman, but it's not the film that it could have been. And honestly, after seeing POTC, if you were to ask me which of the two films I'd gladly go and see again, it's POTC. Superman is a film I can wait to see again when it comes out on DVD.
