Let me know when you do this, so I can join in.

I don't give a shit about the negative reviews, I saw the film today and I loved it. As far as video game movies goes, it's pretty much the best one ever. That's probably a dubious honor, but honestly, I thought it was good. I found it to be a more entertaining film than the vast majority of major Hollywood horror flicks of the past few years.

I've loved Tool since Opiate. All of the rest of you just jumped on the bandwagon. BANDWAGONERS

Exactly my point. Those porcupines mean business. Even de-quilled. I bet they're even more dangerous then, because now you've gone and pissed them off. They're shifty. Look at their eyes - they're shifty, beady little eyes. Lifeless eyes. Like a doll's eyes.

Justice just gave me a headache.

Porcupines. Skunks, once descented, are actually pretty harmless, and some people even keep them as pets. They're actually a lot like cats (as far as pets go), but require a lot of attention. Some states have laws against owning them as pets because of the stigma attached to the animal, but they're really not so bad. Porcupines, though, those fuckers look like they just wait all day long for someone to stick one of their quills in.

With tits like that I don't even CARE what her voice sounds like.

That was Meltz's little joke in this week's Observer, but I didn't find it funny, because the scary reality is that "Umaga" is probably what would have become of him had Joe signed with the WWE.

What the fuck is "Phat Girlz"?

CBenoit is right in two regards. The first is that, yes, this movie is terribly overrated. In fact, I'd label it as the biggest piece of overrated dog shit to win the best picture Oscar since.......fuck, I can't even remember when. You know how people bitch because Gladiator won Best Picture? Yeah, well that movie deserved its BP Oscar more than Crash by a factor of about 495.3555. The five is actually a repeating decimal, for you math geeks. As much as I've joked about Brokeback Mountain, I'm stunned that it lost BP now. I guess even Hollywood, for all George Clooney's speech about them being so revolutionary and important, just isn't that comfortable with the queers, to the point of snubbing them with the Oscar. He's also right that it's just about Racism is Bad. "No, there was more to it!" Like fucking hell. Whatever other bullshit message was in there, it was - if I may use a Rosa Parks reference - THROWN to the fucking back of the bus, because all that was beat into the viewer from the first minute was "Racism is Bad!" Thanks, I kind of knew that. Best part of the film was Thandie Newton getting molested by Matt Dillon. And Jennifer Esposito's tits. There, I said it. Do yourself a favor and just visit Mr. Skin to see that, it's the only worthy part of this film.

Disagree. I'd list Azkaban & Goblet as tied for the "Best Potter Film" prize, with Azkaban getting the slight edge in terms of story, whereas Goblet has the edge in presentation. Read my recent review of that film in the "What Movie Did You...." thread. Needless to say, we both agree that it's a big steaming pile of shit.

That movie was apparently completely ruined by the studio cut. The directors cut is supposedly great. In order to be great, it'd have to cut out all of the fucking "Muslims were the REAL noble, humble freedom fighters!" bullshit that infected that fucking film. What the fuck? Did you even see that movie? The climax was them laying waste to Jerusalem and slaughtering everybody over petty disagreements. No 'Noble freedom fighter' bullshit. The theme was that the people in charge of both sides were dumbasses who kept fighting over a pretty worthless piece of land over and over again. Bullfuckingshit. Yes, I saw the movie, and the Muslims weren't portrayed nearly as poorly as you're stating here. Saladin was portrayed as a wise, noble leader / warrior, who treated his enemies with respect, when in reality Saladin was a brutal warlord known for slaughtering Christians even after they peacefully surrendered to him. His right-hand man, Nasir, was portrayed as a good man at heart who always treated Balian kindly and with justice. Overall, the Muslims were presented as, essentially, freedom fighters, rising up against the oppression of the Templars / Christians. Who were presented as the real villains of the film? The Christians. Guy and Reynald - both Christians - were portrayed as evil to the core, eagerly willing to slaughter innocent women, as they did with Saladin's sister. They disrespected the Jews, they oppressed the Muslims, they were presented as little more than civilized savages. It was no small thing that the hero of the whole fucking movie - Balian - was a Christian who essentially stood up at the end of the film and REJECTED his faith. That was the whole fucking movie. It had some good battle scenes, but in between them there was a lot of politically correct bullshit that spared Muslims any serious criticism while presenting the Christians as the real villains. All I expected from that movie was a somewhat LOTR-esque version of the Crusades, I didn't expect 2 1/2 hours of agenda-driven political bullshit.

Why do they always take pleasure in booking Regal so embarassingly? Renaming Singh as "Khali" actually makes sense, given his ethnic background. It's likely meant as a play on the Hindu goddess Kali, who is, among other things, a goddess of death and destruction.

I really enjoy "Replacement Killers", though it's essentially one big, long music video. But that makes sense, didn't Antoine Fuqua direct that? I think that was his first film gig, after spending years directing.....music videos. "Killers" is essentially an American take on the Hong Kong action cinema, and to that end it does a fine job, although obviously the original films are better. "Corruptor" is an underrated film and of the two Chow Yun Fat movies, it has the better, more-engrossing story, and a finer performance by Fat. If you want to focus upon Fat's American movies, it's one of the better ones, whereas "Bulletproof Monk" is easily his worst and is one of the very few movies that I have ever walked out on. EVER. I mean, I have sat through some real bombs before, for the simple reason that if I've spent my hard-earned money on a film I'm stubborn enough to try and sit through the movie even if it's crap, in order to justify the money I've spent. But that was one of the ones so bad I couldn't even justify spending a moment longer. Just fucking godawful.

Bullshit. The movie, like the book, was great, but your criticism of the movie's fans is ass-backwards. The movie wasn't "worshipped" by people because they want to seem intelligent. That'd be a refreshing change, actually, since the movie was quite briliantly done. No, the problem with that film is the opposite, that too much of the love of that film came from idiots who appreciated it only for the violence and the "hey, you can be really cool by being an anti-social counter culturalist!" theme, without any understanding whatsoever as to why the gentlemen in Project Mayhem were anti-social counter-culturalists to begin with.

Completely disagree. I LOVED the Keaton Batman films when I was younger, and I still enjoy them a lot, but I watched the first Batman not too long ago, and it doesn't age as well as I remember it doing. Napoleon Dynamite is a polarizing film. I wouldn't even list it as something "everyone" loves. About half of the people who see it like it, the other half thinks it's painfully unfunny. I liked it, but I can totally see the argument of those who don't, as the humor is very......offbeat. Agree about Equilibrium. I always got rave reviews for that from people I know, and outside of a couple fun action sequences, I found the film pretty generic. Not bad (nowhere near Matrix sequel shitty) but just not worth the hype. About "A History of Violence": I liked that a lot, but I'm not sure it deserved to be considered one of 'the best films of 2005', although seeing as I intensively dislike 'Crash' and think its Oscar win was a joke, "A History..." deserved a Best Picture Oscar nod more than the film that actually won it.

And a great ending. I have to go back to that, as I've mentioned it before, but it had a really great, stylish ending. The way Zombie wrote and shot that ending, including his use of music, really was fantastic and was one of those little flashes of brilliance that makes me believe Rob has some real talent and could develop into a really good director with more practice. Since it was mentioned earlier, let me choose Kill Bill. Both parts. Part one was enjoyable, but nearly worth of the "OMG IT'S SO AWESOME DOOD!!!" reaction some people gave it. Part two bored me literally to sleep at least once. A recent pick: Oscar winner "Crash", which was a heavy-handed piece of shit that is easily the least-deserving Best Picture winner in years. I'd have given the Oscar to the gay cowboy film, and quite frankly, I still can't look upon 'Brokeback' as anything other than a joke. EDIT: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is too long and plodding at times. Chamber of Secrets is also a little long and can drag but makes up for it with Kenneth Brannan's performance as well as a fairly dark and sinister (for a kid's movie) third act. Prisoner of Azkaban and Goblet of Fire are both great - yes, great - movies. Totally agree about Kevin Smith, though. I really, really like Smith as a person, he's always fun and interesting to listen to, but IMO Clerks is his only *great* film, and after that there's been an ever diminishing return when it comes to the movies that follow. I have little hope for Clerks 2.

"Wolf Creek" - 3/10 I'm going to go ahead and call for a moratorium on people - especially people on the internet - labelling every new gory horror flick as "the most disturbing film in years" or some such bullshit. It wasn't true of a film like "Audition", it wasn't true of a film like "High Tension", it's so definitely not true of this film. I'm going to hopefully see "Hostel" soon, so maybe I can see if that one's also incredibly overrated as well. I was looking forward to this film, because for whatever reason, I bought into the hype from people who said that this film was a great horror flick. Guess what? WRONG. Dead wrong. Roger Ebert gave this film 0 stars, and I don't quite agree with him on that, but hey, this film's grossly overrated and in general is just a steaming pile of shit. First off, the film doesn't even get remotely interesting until FIFTY MINUTES in. Now, I'm not 'fanofcoils', I can wait for a movie to build the suspense / story, but honestly, they didn't need to spend half the fucking movie on the build, especially when the payoff of the other half was shit. So when the action starts, what we get isn't really anything special. Is it gory? A bit here and there. Is it disturbing? See, now this is what a lot of the pussy reviewers (Ebert included) seem to take offense too. It's 'too disturbing' to them. It 'crosses lines which shouldn't be crossed' to paraphrase one reviewer. Bullshit. It is 1) neither as disturbing as people make it out to be, and 2) the violence in this is absolutely pointless and gratuitious. Gratuitious violence is okay so long as there's a point to it, BUT THERE ISN'T ANY HERE. The killer isn't particularly terrifying or even really interesting, though I suppose in some ways he's more realistic. This film feels like an homage to the 70s gorefest films that guys like Rob Zombie seem to love, but quite frankly, Rob already did an homage to that genre last year in "The Devil's Rejects", and his film was 10 times more effective, entertaining, and in tune with that style of film. So, in closing, let me just say: this film fucking sucked, and the makers of it should go eat a bowl of dicks. Thank you for making me waste an hour and forty minutes of my life I'll never get back, you fucking time rapists. P.S. Quentin Tarantino called this movie "the scariest film I've ever seen". Just fucking STOP, Quentin. My dog has literally shit scarier things than this.

Opie & Anthony had the best line regarding how many listeners Roth has lost for K-Rock: fewer people died in the 2004 Tsunami than have abandoned K-Rock in the four months Roth's been on the air.

If I can make a request: any cosplay pics of Winry Rockbell. MAKE IT HAPPEN.

That was actually what the show was about, although unfortunately a lot of people just seem to want to choose sides and slam Family Guy. That shit was all just backdrop, though. After seeing that episode, I can't see how anyone could think the episode was about FG at ALL, when the plot & focus of the entire episode was Matt & Trey basically bitching out Comedy Central for being pussies, with a broader message that Americans aren't fighting for free speech like we should (and the Muslim cartoon issue, which unfortunately too many of our own newspapers and networks chose to censor themselves, was perfect for that). I didn't feel the episode was LOL, but with SP these days the social commentary is usually so spot on that I don't much care if there isn't a lot of gags thrown at me each episode.
