I'm writing an empty arena match for my e-fed to blow off a really big feud and I need your brilliant brains to help think up some awesome spots for this match. Any cool ideas? Also, any good stuff from past empty arena matches from real life I could play off of that would be cool?

They just announced that non-tourney matches for night one will be CM Punk vs. Ray Gordy, Matt Sydal and Delirious vs. Danny Daniels and BJ Whitmer, and a rematch between Chris Hero and Arik Cannon.

For anyone who has PWG DVD's, how is the video quality and production values and all that stuff? I may have to pick up a lot of shows very very soon since I haven't watched any of their shows before.

The show's tonight, so I figured I'd bump this. It's not the SSMC anymore, but it still should be a great show. Now if ROH could just get their out of ring stuff figured out...

This show convinced me that 90 percent of what TNA does well has been done by sheer accident. I cannot fathom (and if there were stronger words I could come up with, I'd use them) how they looked at the booking of this show on paper and thought it was acceptable. Three major problems come to mind (along with a dozen smaller things). -Finishing both main events with inconclusive finishes is absolutely inexcusable. Wrestling bookers often forget that while their main goal is to keep storylines flowing and give them something to work with on future programs, their first goal should be to satisfy fans this time - and fans are looking for a satisfying conclusion for their ten bucks. TNA's booking of two non-finishes is like a fine restaurant serving half of the meal ordered, and then letting their diners know that while they don't get the rest of what they paid for, here's an advanced copy of tomorrow's specials and a discount coupon for their next visit. -The main event ending with the focus on Vince Russo instead of Ron Killings. Could less have been done to establish any semblance of a bond between the fans and Killings. Their top babyface challenger on their second anniversary show gets what? A promo to talk about his path to this title shot? A music video showing off why he is in a top position in the company and a major reason you should order TNA events? Nope. But there was time for a D-Lo Brown promo which shifted focus away from Killings and toward him regarding the World Title picture. There was time for three music videos that made no sense. And, worst of all, there was time once again for all of the World Title focus to be on Jeff Jarrett and Vince Russo. I'll chip in for a personal trainer and some steroids for Russo if it'll get him in the ring so he and Jarrett can wrestle twenty straight weeks against each other until TNA has no customers left just so I don't have to see, once again, Russo steal the thunder of the babyface wrestler. Why does TNA management think continually pushing Russo, who shows nothing as a character to justify his push nor does he have any star power to make up for that, over actual babyface wrestlers is justifiable? -Having Scott D'Amore last 15 minutes with Jerry Lynn. D'Amore may be an underappreciated world class worker who was held back from a national contract because he didn't have "the look" that Vince McMahon forces down fans' throats. Okay, that may be. But a TNA PPV isn't the place for D'Amore to try to show the world how good of a worker he is if the match was set up as a chance for the babyface wrestler to kick the BUTT of the overweight, out of shape, loudmouth manager. Instead, without any over-the-top cheating or interference to explain Lynn's haplessness, we got D'Amore looking like he should be right next to Lynn in the top five rankings for X Title matches. D'Amore doesn't look the part. He doesn't act the part (he even played his physique for laughs before the bell rang). He is supposed to be a chickensh-- heel, so who conceived the notion that it was the least bit appropriate for him to last more than two minutes against Lynn in a fair-and-square match? At least they should have had Team Canada obliterate Lynn before the match backstage, but have Lynn vow that wouldn't stop him and despite his dislocated shoulder, concussion, broken fibula, and wide gaping hole straight through his abdomen, he was still willing to wrestle D'Amore because he wanted to kick his ass so badly. And then he still should have won quicker than he did in reality. Jeff Hardy was a nice surprise, but if he wasn't willing to do a job for Styles, or TNA management was too star-struck to ask him to, they shouldn't have bothered. Hardy, as the announcers pointed out, hadn't been wrestling recently. They talked about his ring-rust. He wasn't a World Title level wrestler in WWE. Styles is pushed as a World Title/X Title caliber wrestler in TNA. Styles should have been able to beat him clean in ten minutes Then Hardy should have grabbed the mic, said it was an honor to wrestle someone of Style's reputation and stature, and said he hopes to have a rematch some day when he has a few weeks to get himself into prime ring shape. There would be no shame for Hardy in that situation, and it would put Styles over as having a reputation for being a true world class wrestler. Instead, we got an even-steven match-up between Styles in his prime and Hardy straight out of mini-retirement with a run-in finish. This show was the biggest abomination in TNA of the year, and perhaps one of the worst four shows they've ever produced. Every match was under two stars except for the main event, which was just two stars. With all the talent in this promotion, that's what they come up with for their Second Anniversary Show. At least the went for symbolism. I've never had less faith in the brain trust of this promotion than I do now after what I saw last night. This tape should be saved for any college classes on Pro Wrestling Booking as a series of perfect examples of what not to do if you wish to stay in business.

Holy CRAP does this show look fantastic. Punk vs. Super Dragon should be really fun. Have they ever faced each other before? Daniels and Amdrag vs. Reyes and Joe? That should be nothing short of fantastic. Kazarian vs. Pearce in the cage should be solid. Looks like Frankie is going TNA full time. Styles vs. Romero is the sleeper match of the night probably.

Chris Hero vs. Hotstuff Hernandez. Weird.

I'm not a huge deathmatch fan. Weird to see Cide and Boz in it, though. Hopefully the non-tourney matches really deliver.

War of the Wire was originally scheduled to be in a middle school. I think they had to move it after parent complaints.

H2WRESTLING DEBUT EVENT THIS SATURDAY CANCELED AFTER VENUE PULLS OUT OF SHOW DUE TO HARASSING PHONE CALL by Mike Johnson @ 4:12:00 PM on 6/23/2004 H2Wrestling's debut event this weekend in Somerville, MA has been canceled, postponing the debut of the new promotion headed by Court Bauer and Teddy Hart until Saturday 7/31 at a new venue to be named. The promotion has also secured a venue, which it did not name, for Saturday 8/28 in Boston, MA. H2Wrestling learned late Monday afternoon that the Somerville Theatre had suddenly refused to allow them to hold a live wrestling event at the venue, forcing them to look for a new venue with less than a week's notice. H2Wrestling sources indicated that they believed another promoter "harassed" the building, which led to the cancellation. The venue did not return repeated phone calls and emails from PWInsider.com for comment. H2Wrestling sources also stated they are looking into legal remedies for the situation. The decision by the building caught H2 Management completely by surprise as building management had been in regular contact with H2 up until Monday afternoon. The promotion had just paid for local advertising in the market, which will still run as scheduled despite the cancellation. H2Wrestling had attempted to find an alternative venue in the Massachusetts area, but was unable to find one in the short timespan that would have been suitable for their purposes filming the event for International distribution. The promotion also looked at sites in Rhode Island. At one point, there was even talk of trying to relocate the event to the ECW Arena in Philadelphia at the last minute, but the costs involved with changing all the booked airline flights were too much for the promotion to absorb. They finally threw the towel in on Wednesday afternoon. The promotion had announced on 6/17 that they had moved the debut from Boston, MA at the Roxy to Somerville, MA after issues came up with the Roxy's management. H2Wrestling will be releasing an official statement later in regard to the situation. Any fans who need refund information should check out www.H2Wrestling.com. The promotion intends on making good with all fans who purchased tickets in advance and will be making an announcement about that shortly. H2Wrestling's Court Bauer noted that if there was more time, they could have worked out a solution, but they just didn't have enough leadtime to work things out. He also noted that there would be additional talent, including Homicide and Sabu, added to 7/31 as a "make good" to the fans.

Weird they decided to go with Jacobs vs. Steel instead of Jacobs vs. Delirious vs. Sabin. Guess they didn't have anyone to face Steel.

This is from the great review of night one of IWA-MS KOTDM 2003: "The Messiah is the current CZW Heavyweight champion and a former XPW champion. He’s the person who had his thumb cut off when two thugs broke into his house, though no one knows who ordered the attack (RobBlackcoughRobBlack). Night 1 of KODM is actually the one year anniversary of the attack." Can someone please expand upon this story? I haven't heard about it before.

Williams' shined here. -I marked out for Corino. The match was very old school with lots of entertainment. Hero came out and attacked him, and Cannon challenged Hero for later in night. Cash Flo was DQ¹d, giving Trik Davis a victory. Ace Steel beat Jimmy Jacobs with the Ace Crusher. Women's champion Lacey beat MsChif. Mad Man Pondo and Abdullah went to a no-contest. Ryuji Ito beat "Spyder" Nate Webb after a frog splash on a chair through a table. Arik Cannon beat Chris Hero with a roll-up; this was the best match of the night. Delirious beat Chris Sabin, another great match. Tag champions Ryan Boz and Brad Bradley beat Danny Daniels and BJ Whitmer, when Fannin went to throw a chain to Daniels, but Boz caught it and used it. IWA champion Petey Williams beat Alex Shelley with sharpshooter.

From the IWA-MS boards: 1-The Wilcards beat the All-Stars(?) not 100% on the name. Wilcards got decent heat from the crowd. Arik Cannon challenged Chris Hero to a match. Hero came out & suplexed Cannon to set up the match for later. 2-Trik Davis defeated Cash Flo by DQ when Cash Flo kept lifting Trik's shoulders off the mat & refusing to pin him. Trik took a LOT of hard chops & a nasty crotch first spot into the ringpost on the outside. 3- Ace Steel over Jimmy Jacobs in a solid match. 4- Lacey retains the woman's title over MsChif in what I thought was a good match. Lacey got in most of the offense on this one, which I found kind of surprising. 5- Abby & Pondo went to a no contest when they kept beating up the refs. Abby walked around with a fork for 10 minutes, Pondo bled like crazy. Same old, same old. Some people seemed to like it one idiot even chanted MOTY. I'm not kidding. It's official that chant no longer means anything, not that it ever did to begin with. I guess people just like to chant. Intermission to clean up all the blood. 6- Ito defeated Webb in a match where Ito's Big Japan death match title was on the line. Nothing special here but I believe internet wrestling celebrity/critic Todd Gerth was called out before the match by Webb. Webb said he knows Todd doesn't like him but a lot of other people do, then he had Todd come to the ring for a hug. It was sweet & almost brought a tear to my eye. Funniest thing was some dorky teenager thought Nate was talking to him & he went to the ring to get a hug, Nate being a nice guy gave him one. There was a terrible spot at the end with Nate that I don't feel like getting into, maybe someone else will post about it. It was awful. 7- Arik Cannon over Chris Hero in a really good match some people were on Hero & tried to get a "Let's Go Hero Let's Go Cannon" thing going like Hero & Joe last month but it just wasn't the same. Some people just like to chant against Hero no matter who he's wrestling. This match was very good & worth checking out. 8- Delirious over Sabin in a pretty good match. More intermission It is announced that at the next Highland show on July 31, AJ Styles will be there & so will CM Punk. 9- Boz & Bradley retained against Daniels & Whitmer after Fannin tried to throw Daniels a chain but Boz ended up catching it & decking Daniels for the win. Daniels wanted a rematch for the next show without Fannin. Daniels may be turning babyface as he was pretty over here. 10- Williams reatins his IWA title over Alex Shelley w/Zack Gowen. Zack is a pretty good heel butI think this match suffered because of all of his interference. Match was OK All in all a pretty good show.

I'm interested to see what Hero and Cannon do. I'm assuming that if they were just going to wrestle each other they'd announce it ahead of time. Should be another great show from IWA-MS.
