I know why they brought back Jannetty- Paul London's missing father, the product of a very strange one night stand with the Ultimate Warrior

Randy just RKO they guy in the production truck, then Undertaker won't be able to make all that wacky stuff happen.

We gonna set up a Heidenreich vs Cena "White B-boy" match down the line?

*BUMP* Hey Mideon Mark, how'd that essay end up going? Can you post it? I was just searching the board today for stuff on Citizen Kane and say this thread, kinda curious how it went. I had to write a paper in one of my many film classes about Psycho and how it connected to the changing 60's, so I feel for you man. Hope it went well.

Hippies can't stand death metal! Although, Slayer doesn't technically qualify as death metal, correct, where's AoO when you need him.

Anyone get the feeling that if they made a movie about Daniel Neg. that Ed Norton would have the role locked up?
-
*Bump* eh, it's been a year since this thread was active, but it's a new season, thought I'd bump for anyone watching and on here tonight. Phil Ivey just got knocked out first. I swear the poor guy never wins. Daniel Neg. is in this one though

I'm watching this show on Discovery Channel, I'm not sure how new of a program it is. Here's the premise- 2 former buglars go around and find people with houses that present potential opportunities for buglars. With the people's permission, one breaks into the house and robs them while the other watches with the people on close circuit TV. Then they give the house a security makeover (ala Extreme Makeover Home Edition) and the 'burglar' returns a week later unnannounced and tries to break in. I've always loved shows that go into the inner workings of former criminals (like the gambler cheaters specials) and having been the victim of a break-in I understand how pissed off being rob makes you feel. It's a pretty cool show.

Queen A Night at the Opera- I've grown to really love this album, I probably end up listening to it once a week. What I love about the album is the effortless switching of musical styles and genre's. You start with a rather glam/heavy rock tune (Death on Two Legs) move into a gaunty pop melody (Lazing on a Sunday Afternoon) to a straight on rocker (I'm in Love with My Car) and so forth, with 2 centerpiece epics standing out, one by Brian May (The Prophet's Song) one by Freddie Mercury (Bohemian's Rhapsody). Just a joy of music to listen to each time.

Is anyone else extremely offended by this? Did anybody freeze when they read what Mike wrote? My blood ran cold. I said a prayer for Ben Affleck. You should. The pact he signed with Satan to have a career despite a lack of actual talent will end up biting him in the end. -=Mike Dude was in Dazed and Confused and Boiler Room, too very good and fun performances. And I admired and liked Changing Lanes too, and of course Chasing Amy. Yes, a thread dealing with Gay Marriage and all I've got to add is a defense of Ben Affleck performances.

Ah, the Basic Instinct one is still tops for me

Longest time I thought Killer Queen went "She's a Killer Queen Got that agility" it's actually "gunpowder gelatine"

Yes, Hayden really good playing a sniviling weasel (hey who knew) but the standout is Peter Sarasgard (?), he should've been nominated for a Oscar for the role.

That one looked better than I or II, and I've always loved Palpatine, so with just more of his evilness will make me happy.

Wow, that's one crazy cool looking TV spot I just saw during the OC.

I was in Barnes & Nobles earlier today and I say this book over in the wrestling section- Steel Chair to the Head It's basically a series of articles and essays on the appeal and draw of pro wrestling by a bunch of professors and scholars. Kind of interesting to see a critical analysis taken of pro wrestling, though as I glossed over it it seems that maybe these writers are looking a bit too deep for meaning in the sport. Anyone else seen the book around or own it/read it. If so, what say you?

I just picked them up used at 24.99 a peice, getting a chance to catch up on the show.

There's a reason the guy's been basically shunned in Hollywood, outside of the occasional Eddie Murphy film.

See can anyone really say The Beatles have a "signature" song- I mean a song that when you play it you can say "this sums up who they were musically" Cause sure bands go through different phases and styles sometimes, but it's pretty easy to say, even 40 years later, that "Satisfaction" stands out as a classic examp-le of who the Rolling Stones were. Or that "My Generation" exemplifies The Who (though I'd make a case for "Won't Get Fooled Again") But The Beatles?, do you go with their 62-64 beautifully crafted 2-3 minute teen pop songs, their 65-67 branching out experimentation culminating in Sgt. Pepper? Or their 68-70 finding themselves splitting in 4 different ways, emerging as solo artists while still a "band"? It's very hard I think to point to 1 song and say- yep that's what The Beatles were all about- She Loves You A Hard Day's Night Ticket to Ride Yesterday Strawberry Fields Forever A Day in the Life Hey Jude Get Back Let it Be Come Together I mean, that's just scratching the surface. I think it's hard enough to try and sum up a band with one song, but some bands were able to craft that 1 (or 2) songs that identified them and their style past present and future, for better or worse. Does any one song the Beatles did achieve that? They changed and evolved so much, it's hard to say. Of course, I'd go with "Good Vibrations" for The Beach Boys myself.

I just picked up the Deluxe Editions of The Who's Tommy and Who's Next at a Flea Market CD place that was on clearance, they were marked 14.99 a piece. If I ever get an SACD player I can listen to Tommy in 5.1 surround sound.
