Explain how it's out of historical context, please. Many of the times he talks of us terrorizing or intervining often involves some sort of Communist state being involved. When looking at the Communist States at the time (China, USSR, North Korea), Communist states tend to be militaristic and usually destroy the population with an initial purge of any dissenters. Almost ever instance of "US Terrorism" that he brings up involves the overthrowing of a Communist government. Given the previous examples, it's not too hard to see why the US worked so hard against them. Not to say they didn't work out all the time, because there were obviously failures. But to say we just put into place dictators for no reason other than to watch their countries suffer is a pretty dumb assumption. True, but many of the dictators we put in place were as brutal or worse than the one we just took out of power. And why did we do that? Because "Communism is the Devil from Hell." Of course, as has been mentioned, it was mostly the CIA working their magic on things. And yes, I know that "communist" governments are usually militaristic, and that Stalin killed more Russians than Hitler did Jews. My point is that we (being the U.S.) are sometimes a bit "too big for our britches" in our worldview.

Wrestlers who never lived up to their potential
TheBigSwigg replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
The thing is, though, is that once Tazz made it into WWE his character was what held him back. Vince didn't let him be the mostly no selling human suplex machine. Tazz vs. Benoit would've have drawn and made both men bigger stars. Tazz vs. HHH could work if done properly. I can hear JR saying "This dog's got a lot of fight in him." It wasn't Tazz's limitations that hurt his chances, it was Vince's inability to see past them. -
You need to remember that their financial losses are "reports" from dirtsheets, and fifteen million is the highest number offered. I think, though, that Dixie Carter is saying that Panda is doing well financially, not TNA.

First pics from Johnny Cash biopic

Joaquin looks like he's got a little too much badass in his Johnny Cash. He needs to brood, not scowl. -
You really should quit that. It's my damn gimmick. Smackdown and Raw have completely different fanbases, silly. Don't you listen to Linda? I could've went, and got in free, but I didn't. I watched Raw instead. I think that's kind of ironic myself.

You read my mind about Brown vs. Daniels. That would be quite interesting. I think it would help develop Brown as a worker as well as be a good feud.

Is he not with the company any more? If Sahadi is really gone, I'm pissed. I really hate Borash's techno bullshit videos.

Has anyone been reading Wolverine lately? I've slowly liked the series less and less since the re-launch. I like Rucka's work, but it seems like Marvel re-launched it to get it away from the standard Marvel comic book feel, and then changed their minds about 14 issues in. I just read issue 22 today, and I didn't much care for it, as their are too many cameos in the current storyline, and more than likely no continuity in the respective books of those making the cameos. Here's another part of my gripe: In the New X-Men books, they talked about how the X-Men no longer wore "costumes" because it frightened the humans and so forth. And then in Wolverine 22, someone states that they like mutants in costumes because they're more like superheroes. Can someone explain what happened to Marvel?

This is an online auction for the Michael Moore lunchbox from the Tonight Show. Thought you'd like to see that, KKK.

I'm starting to take a shine to this RHR fellow.

Anyone know where to get a No Mercy rom?

UseTheSledgehammerUh, I really liked making fun of the pictures from your sausage mixers. But your lack of ability to show a sense of humor when it comes to a couple of guys trying to be funny by having a fake "shoot" interview is sad. They've stated it was a joke, and just because you don't think it's funny doesn't mean it isn't. Neither is your repeated assertion that you are correctly prediciting TNA's end in _ months. Jeff Jarrett's stroke no longer rules TNA.

Agreed. Any attempts that have been made to update the suit (Superboy, Eradicator, Elseworlds stories) have been retarded. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I would like to say two things: 1. ND firing Willingham is ridiculous after 3 years. 5, Maybe, but not 3. As stated before, a coach should be able to institute his own guys into his system before being canned. 2. ND beat a Tennessee team which played their 3rd string quarterback the entire second half. Which is also why Tennessee didn't do as well against UK or Vandy.

Trust me; as long as this generation is alive, there will be speculation over the legitimacy of both of the Bush elections. It will be between the level of JFK Assassination and Nixon's Resignation, and the level of Clinton and Lewinsky. Most people don't believe in the Warren comission, and I don't know what the Nixon Resignation & Clinton/Lewinsky has to do with anything. He means that it will be remembered with Bush the same way that Nixon's resignation and the Lewinsky scandal are with their respective presidents.

46. Treat the Naturals with some respect. They are one of two true tag teams that you have, and that have nothing to do with other nationally known feds. I'm not saying they need to pull a Jarrett with the Tag Titles, but they're a good team who play good prick heels. Give them a good old school manager and the exposure that AMW has. At least they'll earn it.

I think Superman is great when written correctly. I just read the current issue of Adventures In Superman, which ironically Rucka wrote, and I was impressed. There have been times, though, where Superman stories have left me horribly disappointed.

I'm pretty sure I'm referring to "the Native." I think something Sabretooth says in one of the issues is what made me think about the possibility of her being Wolverine's daughter. But I remember what you're hinting at, and I'm pretty sure it's not his daughter. What bothers me is I read an interview with the current Wolverine writer, and he basically said something along the lines of "Wolverine should never be without his costume, because it's so cool." Which is a horrible paraphrase, but he basically sounded like a huge fanboy in the interview. I myself would prefer Wolverine NOT wear the costume in his own series.

I was wondering if anyone saw this, and what they thought about it. I'm not very fond of it myself, as though it is supposedly set in his early years, it makes Batman look to normal. He never "learns" anything from his encounters, which makes him look like he has to use giant robots to fight his fights for him. (The episode with Bane) Also, I don't like the redesigning of some of the characters (Joker, Bane, Scarface). What do you guys think?
-
You see, I think that's part of what made Rucka's Wolverine stories good. They didn't involve massive MU cameo's, and they weren't that complicated. They were simple stories based around Wolverine. Granted, Sabretooth was in a few issues, and they had the thing with the chick who seemed to be Wolverine's daughter, but we'll never see who she was or what she was because we've now got "heel" Wolverine taking on everyone in the Marvel Universe. Which, by the way, does NOT leak over into other books. Which pisses me off ROYALLY.

I haven't seen them live, I just have a few of their CD's. I like the CD's, sorry they sucked live.

So if it stayed closer to the comic, but still had the look that it did, would it be any better?
