Actually, Clear Channel's (and so many other companies) ability to own several stations in one market comes as a result of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, which was signed into law by Bill Clinton. (WHY? I don't know. Very odd) This law relieved some of the FCC limitations on station ownership, as well as network ownership, Which is why Clear Channel owns so many radio stations, and Viacom, Universal and Time Warner can own so many companies and networks. The head of the FCC didn't really do much with that.

Actually, advertisers don't see the demographic as the problem. Most wrestling fans will fall into the desired 18-34 demographic. The problem is the stigma attached to the programming. Whereas it was once considered bad because it was fake, it's now considered bad because wrestling is associated with crude humor, sexuality and other non-family friendly elements. Therefore anyone who advertises wrestling risks getting attacked by "family friendly" advocates like L. Brent Bozell or James Dobson. Thank you, Vince Russo.
