I love how Wagner rants about being on a winning team, considering that if he didn't give up a home run to Craig Biggio in that September series, the Phillies are at worst in a one-game playoff with Houston for the wild card. I've been impressed with Gillick's work as well, especially that the 2 signings he's made haven't made the Phils give up any picks.

So it wasn't a horrible loss. A question....did OU deserve an at-large the year they lost to KSU in the conference title game? KSU was like 13th. I agree they didn't deserve the national title game. But after that year they probably did deserve an at-large(which they got but i'm talking about if USC and LSU had hooked up). Man these conference title games cause chaos but it always seems like the Big XII title game. Has the SEC title game ever caused chaos like that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'd say they deserved an at-large bid. They did go undefeated until the conference championship game. Had they not went to the Sugar Bowl, my guess is USC to the Sugar, Florida State to the Rose, and Oklahoma to the Orange to play Miami that year.

Nah the Big 12 was actually quite solid back in 1998. 5 schools had good prgrams.

Most of WIP in Philadelphia is crap, except for Anthony Gargano in the middays who I like, it sucks that he gets stuck with Mike Missanelli, who is a complete jerkoff, and Don McKie and Ray Didinger on the weekends who are great to listen to. Glen Macnow isn't too bad either. The rest are crap. The WIP morning show is a two-bit Howard Stern knockoff, led by the head idiot Angelo Cataldi and Horseface Rhea Hughes, who very much has a "face for radio" and one of the most annoying voices ever. Then there's Howard Eskin, who I won't even get into. The only thing worse than these morons are their callers...

No way in hell was UofA ranked even top 25 those years. Maybe in basketball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Arizona was ranked like #3 in the beginning of 1999, but got squashed by PSU and I don't think they have been ranked since.

WVU is underwhelming. Great record, but one of the things that drags them down is the fact they play in such a pathetic conference now. If they would have done this last year with Miami, VT, and BC all there people would be on their bandwagon. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They lost the toughest game on their schedule, Virginia Tech, but they're not too bad of a team. They'll be scary next year as they don't play VT but get mostly everyone back.
