  1. From both Beyond the Mat and the Roberts dvd, it seems that relationship is cold at best. Ricky Steamboat would be an adequate choice, as both a WWE employee and well known rival.
  2. There's not liking the match and actively booing it. I thought the match was good myself, but not many agree with me. This is very noticeable. A couple edits I note. Mike Adamle's botch of Hardy's name is missing. Taker's legdrop on Snitsky through a table is now seen live. I know WWE does this all the time, it just interests me having seen the show live and now in edited form. One odd thing that remained though is the "Wrestlemania: 63 Days away" spot. WWE needs to take out those spots meant for the live show.
  3. Not the credit score specifically, but financial issues kill a lot of marriages.
  4. My ratings: Muraco/Orndorff: ** Savage/Steele: DUD Roberts/Welles: * Mr. T/Piper: -** Moolah/McIntyre: DUD Kirschner/Volkoff: DUD Battle Royal: *** Bulldogs/Dream Team: ***1/2 Steamboat/Hercules: **1/2 Adonis/Elmer: *1/2 Funks/Santana-JYD: *** Hogan/Bundy: **
  5. I thought the match was quite overrated myself. (It was on the Rise and Fall dvd, IIRC.) Generally it's difficult to judge ECW matches from the television shows since the matches are often clipped.
  6. Umm, they do. It's called "Cops."
  7. I've been coming to TSM ever since it was known as Morganville.com.
  8. I still have about six spaces apiece in both the AL and NL only leagues. Anyone is welcome to join.
  9. I could probably name 40 or 50 minor leaguers in the Red Sox system off the top of my head without looking, and I had no idea who Holdzkom was until he was selected by Philly. That should give you an indication of his pedigree. He walked 44 guys in 46 innings last year between AA and AAA. He wasn't a Sox until last season. He started out with the Marlins, landed with the Cubs in 2006 in the Todd Wellemeyer deal and then the Sox last year. From time to time Baseball America will flat out bury a player. They rated Holdzkom as the #30 prospect in the Phillies' farm system. Here are a few snippets from their writeup.
  10. Lincoln Holdzkom walked three batters and threw a wild pitch in 1 1/3 innings. As a Rule V pick, he is already a longshot to make the Phillies' roster.
  11. You mean back when nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them?
  12. This is a golden edit because the crowd completely turns on the match now for (seemingly) no reason. Jericho's low dropkick certainly didn't impress the MSG crowd.
  13. XM Schedule today, All Times Eastern: Atlanta @ LA Dodgers, 1pm XM 176 Houston @ Cleveland, 1pm XM 177 Florida @ Baltimore, 1pm XM 178 Chicago Cubs @ San Francisco, 3pm XM 179 San Diego @ Seattle, 3pm XM 180 Tomorrow's Dodgers/Braves game (listen up Smues) will air on ESPN at 1pm ET.
  14. Bored, are ratings based up to 1985 or do they include the 1986 season itself?
  15. I really enjoyed Shawn/Orton, the superkick stipulation added another dimension to the match. The move Murdoch used is called a Canadian Destroyer, though many refer to it as the Redneck Destroyer when Murdoch busts it out. For some reason Trevor Murdoch is one of my favorite wrestlers going right now.
  16. Smitty, the pronoun usage in that quote leaves me entirely confused. Who does "he" refer to in the first paragraph, Podhoretz or Buckley? And whose wife in the second paragraph, Buckley's or the tablemate's?
  17. Got it, the sign in page made it seem like you were establishing a new league. I'm in. For anyone wondering, the Hillsdale Daisies were one of the top negro teams of the 1920s. They operated out of their own park in Darby, a suburb of Philadelphia.
  18. I'm in, but how the heck do you get to the League sign up page?
  19. I'd leave most of the card intact. I would absolutely turf the boxing match and maybe run a Piper/Orndorff blowoff. Perhaps find a way to get Bob Orton a match on the card as well, a wrestler of his caliber has something to contribute.
  20. I get the impression that if you ran this card at one venue, changed up the commentary (Gorilla and Jesse only) and helped the production values, it would come off much better.
  21. That may well have been the best match of Elmer's career.
  22. The Dodgers had substandard production at SS, 3B and CF. They signed Andruw Jones for center, and have top 100 prospects ready at the other two positions. I'd say back end of the rotation is the only big question mark. Unless they make truly stupid personnel moves (namely, blocking productive prospects), they are as good as any pick to win the West.
  23. It seems like we go through this every year.
  24. Good lord, I remember those puppets too. I wonder if they ever made a sequel to that movie...
