  1. It's not a bad deal considering you'll routinely pay $1 for a soda you only piss out the next day.
  2. Sabu never managed to really stick around a minor promotion either though. WCW gave him a run but it was so abbreviated that I couldn't even blame politics. 911 just couldn't wrestle. All the years I watched ECW I only saw him in one real match (911/Rey Misterio vs. the Eliminators) The Samoans vs. Murdoch/Adonis match is well worth watching. Murdoch/Adonis are such a tremendous, forgotten tag team.
  3. This game is fantastic. Just what the playoffs needed.
  4. The big problem for the Yankees is that even if they get the win, Torre might be gun-shy on using Chamberlain again in a big spot.
  5. Sounds like someone at TBS subscribed to Baseball-Reference.com's Play Index. Despite the bugs, this is easily the best game of the postseason thus far.
  6. Ric Flair/Kerry Von Erich, Christmas 1982 Hulk Hogan/Nick Bockwinkel, Super Sunday 1983
  7. The pythagorean record is useful because since you can reasonably project win/loss records with it, you can evaluate individual players' direct contributions to winning games. As far as predictive value it's good from year-to-year, but not so good in-year.
  8. Since there isn't much data on Rodriguez at the major league level, we'll use a common sense metric. Rodriguez when he played in Rochester the last few years tended to play second rather than shortstop. The reasoning here is that if his glove were a tremendous asset, his teams would put him at short as much as possible. What Rodriguez brings to the table is a bit of plate discipline in the infield. The Pads waived Brady Clark to pick up Rodriguez, so that's what the deal boils down to.
  9. No series is over until a team wins three games. Winning three in a row is certainly not out of the question for either the Cubs or Phillies. What a crappy postseason though. Six games so far, and only one (D'backs/Cubs game one) has had any sort of drama whatsoever.
  10. If you're talking a team's rotation, you'd have to make a distinction between three, four, five man staffs. Either way I don't think anyone has kept track much.
  11. Great idea, but I can never find good Phillies moments online.
  12. Would the CTDWAT trolls please shut up? Almost everything is fair game for a thread in this folder.
  13. Anyone notice a commentator asking the other about Sabathia leaving the pitches high, and the other commentator just repeating the question?
  14. Jeter fails in the clutch, Abreu doesn't.
  15. Almost anything is game for a thread in these parts. It seems fairly petty to strip her of medals won seven years ago, particularly when most athletes may have used and just had the benefit of being low profile enough to avoid investigation.
  16. No bitterness here, just disappointment.
  17. At least they've been the best team in the division over that span. Actually since their inception in 1998, the Diamondbacks have won more division titles (four) than any other NL West club.
  18. Particularly considering you can find his name listed if you check out WWE's Title History section.
  19. Thing is, I really like this Rockies club. Homegrown players, better pitching staff than you think. I wouldn't be bored watching them later on. It's not like the D'backs where they already won a World Series recently.
  20. A company somewhere in Philadelphia regularly prints a book full of pitchers better than Jose Mesa. It's called the phone book.
  21. Keep in mind TBS does NOT have the crowd miked.
  22. Well, can't say we didn't see that coming. Mesa has sucked for YEARS. Why is he pitching?!
  23. How do you say offseason in spanish? M-E-S-A.
  24. It was really a questionable decision. The Rocks loaded the bases against Kendrick but one was an intentional walk and another was a swinging bunt single. The Phils simply did not trust Kendrick in that spot and they got burned.
