  1. In any case, it's going to be an interesting weekend. The division is only tied, a lot can happen between now and Monday. At least work obligations will not get in the way.
  2. For the last time, quit talking about UTSU!
  3. This thread sucks, for the same reason as the WWE folder. Instead of posters making stupid points back and forth there, they're mocking each other here for those same stupid points. It's the same damn thing.
  4. I'll be in section 428 or 429 myself.
  5. FIRST PLACE~! Holy crap.
  6. Ryan Howard struck out, breaking the single season record. Nary a mention on the Phils' broadcast.
  7. The Phillies never cease to surprise me lately.
  8. Good article on the worst pennant race collapses of all time. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=6764
  9. Douglas had a brief run in the WWF in 1990. His biggest claim was subbing for Shawn Michaels and tagging with Marty Jannetty for a month or so while Michaels recovered from a knee injury.
  10. Thank goodness the Padres are in Milwaukee. Now I can find out the result of the games relatively early. As far as spending, also remember that good organizations tend to spend more because they manage wisely and open up more revenue streams.
  11. I remind you all that the Mets are STILL IN THE LEAD.
  12. This Yankees celebration reminds me of what's wrong with celebrations today. It's not that it's the Yankees or the wild card. It's that a team has a wild, spontanious celebration, but first they have to put on their safety googles and official hats and t-shirts.
  13. And vice versa. No, it's not hard watching Joe Carter's home run with the sole exception being that obnoxious blowhard Bob Costas making the call. And you'll notice I said baseball memory, not life memory.
  14. What would you like him to say? In the end it really is just a game. When you're on the brink of a historic collapse, "so be it" is not an acceptable response. This ain't checkers. This is a game you're getting paid millions of dollars to manage. A laissez-faire attitude just does not cut it. So you can panic, bitch, moan, cry like a little baby because that is how you make grown men play better? I would like to think Willie Randolph is a bit classier than the standard trash that makes up the New York City baseball fanbase.
  15. At least he had a foreign object.
  16. What would you like him to say? In the end it really is just a game.
  17. Mets fans may begin panicking now.
  18. Everyone except Padres' fans just need the Pads to lose tonight.
  19. I can put together a good list of reasons Steinbrenner was a bad owner without once bringing up money. Oh, that's fine. I'm not saying he's a saint. But SJR brought up the whole "evil empire" thing and I hate it when people bring that up when talking about the Yankees. Well they are. There is nothing dishonest about it, they built a successful team and they've become the biggest team in baseball. Sometimes sports needs a villian, and the Yankees fill that role. The happiest baseball moments of my life all involve Yankee losses, and the worst involve Yankee wins.

  21. Reinsdorf was one of the hawks among the owners that invited the 1994 strike and made it such a travesty. For that he ranks among the worst. Point taken . Well, to follow up, not looking at his involvment in the baseball strike, is he still the worst ever? He is not the best owners but I wouldnt personally but him among thw worst. Outside of labor issues, he ranks average. Leaning towards thumbs down for gainfully employing Hawk Harrelson.

  23. I have to hear that stat several times a season. What's the most useless? Forget the source, but overheard earlier this season. "The Yankees have allowed four walkoff hits, all on the road.
  24. Tim Hudson is 96-2 with a lead of three runs or more. I have now heard the second most useless stat all season.
  25. Fielder shouldn't get the MVP. He has the edge in raw power. David Wright though, for example, has a higher On Base Percentage, runs the bases better, and plays good defense at third base. Overall, he's much more valuable.
