  1. Was it really necessary to bring in a situational lefty in a three-run game with the bases empty to pitch to one batter? As for the game itself, this series is relatively meaningless unless something drastic happens in the next two weeks.
  2. That Wrestling Observer article was abysmal. I couldn't make it through the whole thing.
  3. Because they play the Cardinals. I think the Friday games are a pick-em deal for the network who will show the in-contention Brewers. Sunday was probably set a while back, and that's reasonable considering the Cards are defending world champions. Besides, it beats watching yet another Yankees/Red Sox snoozefest.
  4. September '06: Why won't the Padres lose an eff'ing game? September '07: Why won't the Padres lose an eff'ing game? Dual sweeps this weekend barring a ninth inning Giants comeback.

  6. One more will tie him for the Milwaukee record of 47, set by Eddie Mathews in 1953.
  7. Just for fun. The Orioles' pitching during their nine game losing streak. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/tgl.c...t=p#124:132:sum My favorite: they failed to turn a single double play over that stretch.
  8. Here's a thought. The Rangers were lambasted for giving Alex Rodriguez the ten year contract back before the 2001 contract. If Rodriguez opts out, wouldn't that indicate the contract was actually a good one in hindsight?
  9. I think the Brewers can look at this season as a positive. If it ended today they would still carry their best win/loss percentage since 1992. Plus their core is very young, and likely to improve further.
  10. I think it's fair. Owen's death was the worst thing that ever happened at a wrestling event. Finances are just that. And I'd be willing to bet that the accident is the one thing Vince McMahon wishes he could undo.
  11. http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/major...res/264575.html Managers vote on who has the best tools in the American League.
  12. Not so fast. The Padres pulled one out of their asses last night.
  13. I never understood why Mets fans got upset. What's wrong with showing a little self-confidence? The New York sports media loves to take quotes and blow them into a story. For the record, Rollins is hitting .364 against the Mets this season with a .712 slugging percentage.
  14. Only 7.5 games up on the playoffs. How do Sox fans deal with the pain? I'd like to point out that for all the supposed failures, the Red Sox haven't lost 90+ games in a season since 1966, and 1992-94 was the only time they finish under .500 in consecutive seasons.
  15. Giants lead the Padres 3-2 in the ninth. A San Diego loss would bring the Phils to within a half game of the wild card.
  16. Heart Shaped Box I remember solely because ECW took the song and wrapped it around a video package for Beulah. For some reason I liked it.
  17. While Michael Kay babbles on about Eric Gagne. Let me mention that the high ERA comes with 14 Ks and 4 BBs in 11 IP, one home run. He allowed an unusual number of hits. Is there a reason he's pitched once since the 26th of August?
  18. And for anyone worrying about their bullpen. I currently cheer for a team that had three relief pitchers all season post an above average ERA. One is J.C. Romero, who walked 22 batters in 26 innings to get there. Second is Ryan Madson, out for the year. Third is Geoff Geary, who JUST got there this week. That's IT. Edit: Yeah, three pitchers they trust. I don't trust ANYONE in the Phils' bullpen. And hell, there isn't anyone I trust in the rotation either until Hamels returns.
  19. Ask any Sox fan on this board, Okajima is wearing down. Which leaves the Sox with only five effective relievers. They'll add another in the playoffs since they won't need a five-man rotation.
  20. Nice to see we're evaluating things based on less than a week's worth of performance again. You'd think we would learn by now not to judge things based on one game.
  21. Antonio Alfonseca was suspended four games by MLB for hitting Todd Helton. Alfonseca has an 8.38 ERA since August 1st so it certainly doesn't punish the team.
  22. This Mets/Phillies game is outstanding so far. Fast pace and great defense. The home plate umpire left something to be desired early on.
  23. What about 1999? As a singular event, I think Owen Hart was a worse blow because it should never have happened.
  24. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1uzm1cfqInc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U9P4m6kSr7s Andre the Giant vs. Chuck Wepner, two parts, in its entirety.
  25. It's been a bad year since WWE has needed to change booking direction multiple times. -Undertaker injured, plans made to hotshot the Smackdown title to Mr. Kennedy. -Mr. Kennedy injured, Smackdown title given suddenly to Edge. -Edge injured, Smackdown title vacated and awarded in battle royal. -Benoit's murder/suicide forces WWE to drop Vince limo angle. -Same incident throws off ECW title picture. -Suspensions en mass throw off McMahon bastard child angle. WWE has been unable to get any momentum going in their programs since May.
