  1. It's raining hard in Philadelphia. If ever a game deserved a mercy killing, this one is it.
  2. This is a touchy subject, so this thread is going to become more heated than others. Maintain some sense of civility, but at the same time flaming is probably inevitable. Expect no mod action on this one.
  3. Honestly, I wasn't impressed with the ECW show apart from Storm/Lynn. I think if WWE presented the same show today, fans would dump on it.
  4. I don't blame them for leaving the dog. Honestly, it's probably something you DON'T want to be a part of. My condolences.
  5. http://www.ncaa-baseball.com/ Lafayette is the local whipping boy this time around. Since I have the college sports channels I'm looking forward to seeing more regional games live.
  6. With John Foley. I believe he's a big name in Stampede history, but I'd be hard pressed to provide detail.
  7. That's odd. Al Hays was also a fairly renowned regional wrestler in his time, so he wasn't just some codger they dug up.
  8. I wouldn't trust two months of defensive statistics any more than two months of offense. In fact less so, because at least we have confidence in offensive statistics. I finally watched the A-Rod play and I have to change course. Shouting one word as you're passing the fielder without changing your gait is far from what the rule seeks to prevent. The rule is in place to prevent a runner from taking a point near the fielder and yelling, "I got it, I got it!!" That play was Howie Clark's mistake more than anyone else's.
  9. NL Central teams are a combined 49-87 outside of their division.
  10. Earl Weaver I believe was tossed before the second game of a doubleheader.
  11. That's legal though, as is the hidden ball trick. The rule simply covers deliberate deceptions such as those of this nature. The rule is a little vague, but MLB umpires are good at fleshing out the obvious details.
  12. Interference as defined in the official MLB rulebook.
  13. I believe there is a rule against it. Let me try and track it down.
  14. Doesn't surprise me. A-Rod's reputation for leaving 'em in scoring position is well known.
  15. They really missed the boat on that guy, didn't they? I'll reserve judgment for now, but it appears so. You wonder though if it's honestly a bigger waste of money than $25 million (salary plus luxury tax) on Roger Clemens. Tonight I'm curious to see how the Japanese media takes to Scranton more than anything.
  16. Why don't they pop for it though? Listen to Jim Cornette and he'll tell you that you can condition the crowd to pop for any move, if it's done right. Top rope maneuvers became overdone when Nitro was stocked with cruiserweights. As the moves become less common, fans will pop for them again.
  17. Maybe from a "pure wrestling" stand point, but crowd reactions really made the PPV into a underrated classic IMO. The heat for the RVD/Cena was just too much, no crowd has ever shit on Cena this bad. Not even Toronto. When the crowd threw the shirt back at Cena, it was amazing. I enjoyed Edge/Foley Vs. Funk/Dreamer also. Agreed on RVD/Cena. I like Cena. Seeing the idea of the face champion defending his title in the challenger's arena was something we haven't seen since the NWA territory days.
  18. That was my least favorite incarnation of the Undertaker. The music though was my favorite version of it.
  19. I didn't go to last night's game with Roger Clemens. Tonight though the starting pitcher for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre is none other than Kei Igawa.
  20. 5/29/07 Queen Leelee Trolling Flaming Her "I'm better than the board" act has run its course.
  21. Tejada hit .375 with RISP that year. That'll make a huge impression, as will the walk-off hits when the winning streak was conveniently keeping the A's in the spotlight. It was an odd year. Garret Anderson got on the MVP bandwagon as well. And Soriano too. So much for OBP that season.
  22. Leena's right, the Sports folder sucks. Everyone is hereby suspended for one minute as punishment. Bad.
  23. You can talk openly about it, but if anyone uses the n-word again I'm booting them.
  24. I'm not comfortable passing judgment on Ariel/Batista, given that we're likely only getting one side of the story.
  25. Is that the wrestling show benefiting the local police department? The Wrestling Observer website mentioned that, with Cena participating because his brother is a member of the force.
