  1. Extending the voting another day to get more people in.
  2. Here's the official take, btw.
  3. Does it count as a game if he gets walked 4 times in a game with no official plate appearances? I don't think it extends the streak, but I know for certain that it does not end it.
  4. For mucking up the TSM Fantasy Baseball leagues.
  5. Why is it crucial? First off, Hamilton isn't going anywhere unless the Reds let him go. Second, he has a world of talent, yes. The problem is that he missed a ton of development time and he undoubtably has flaws. A good manager works to cover those flaws and use him to his optimum ability. Leaving him out to be exposed is probably not the best way to do that. Keep in mind he's 0 for 7 against lefties with four strikeouts.
  6. All stats aside, you don't earn a starting spot after 21 plate appearances above A ball.
  7. It's not like he was completely lost out there in the first place. They showed him having a little talent in taking it to Umaga at the start. It would be interesting if they showed his progression as a wrestler while trying to hold on to the title. I like it. It harms Umaga a ton... but as far as a way to debut someone, I don't mind it. It doesn't harm Umaga... it took three chairshots to put him out AND Lashley held the guy (albeit not wonderfully) on top of him for the pin. And when Lashley wins at Backlash he's just going to pin Shane or Vince, so that won't harm him either. He's been INCREDIBLY protected. All people will remember is Umaga losing the title to a guy from the stands. That's it. Having Vince or Shane taking the fall and Umaga destroying this guy in a non-title match or something is the only solution. Remember the last time they ran this type of thing, they got Steve Blackman out of it.
  8. Raw comes to Wilkes-Barre, PA on June 11. Anyone want to join me in my pursuit of the tag team championship? I live in PA ;p Do you think anyone would notice if some random fans won the tag belts? the WWE doesn't even have a real tag division. Or an IC belt division for that matter. I live in PA too all three of us can jump the Hardy's and win the belts. I'm considering the merits of recruiting Snitsky and jump-starting the Pocono Connection. Managed by thesmartmarks.com!

  10. Good thing they knew how to spell his name in production. Hmm, I wonder if he's related to Gorilla.
  11. MLB Gameday says Ryan Freel scored on the play, runners advanced. How did that happen?
  12. I'm not sure if this is a rhetorical question or not, but it's easy to convince someone as long as they have an open mind about the game. Once they get their head around the idea that the goal of baseball is to not get out, it's fairly easy. Eschewing the importance of OBP and SLG opens the entire world of statistical analysis. I agree with the idea that it's important not to make outs, but what about the importance of guys that sacrifice (both bunt and fly) and move runners over with grounders to the right side of the infield? Aren't they also a pretty integral part of the game? Not really, because those skills are easily replaceable.
  13. No reason given.
  14. Here's the deal. 1. All the dropped players are returned to Leena's team. It's either this or find some way of redistribution, which some will find unsatisfactory. 2. Leena has been blocked from making further player moves, and will continue to be for the rest of the season. 3. Leena is suspended from the board for 24 hours. Thank you.
  15. An announcement is coming shortly.
  16. What player are you referring?
  17. Honestly, I do think the video game industry is going to take some heat on this.
  18. Yeah...Derek Jeter (I think) actually said something right last week when he said that MLB should make sure as many early season games occur in warm weather or dome stadiums as possible in the future. This weather is an abnormality. What MLB should do though is make sure more day games are scheduled early in the season.
  19. This has been the most miserable openings to a baseball season I've ever experienced. The teams only get their games in half the time and when they do play, they stink. Both in performance and excitement. I took six days off of work but couldn't travel to any baseball games because it was either too cold, raining, snowing, or all three.
  20. The U.S. population is a hair short of 300 million, so you'd more occurrences with greater frequency just by simple mathematics.
  21. Ty Cobb. Cap Anson campaigned to get black players out of baseball, yes. The problem is that at that time in history, EVERYTHING became segregated. Anson did not take a position contrary to history, and while that's unfortunate that was simply the tune of the times. Even Cobb's attitudes regarding minorities were not uncommon for a player of his place and time. He took a position. He put in writing that he refused to play with blacks. I understand the times he was in that slavery existed and such, but don't make Anson sound like he was just one of the people going along with whatever anyone else wanted. What about celebrating it now as a horrible attempt at trying to be witty. Anson took a position. It was not unpopular, nor was it uncommon. It was wrong. The problem is, what allowed segregation to occur not only in the American Association, but in the whole of organized baseball? Remember ten years later, John L. Sullivan refused to fight black contenders. It was an institution. It would have occurred whether or not Cap Anson ever played Major League Baseball. The mere mention of Cap Anson does not imply racism. Bored is not disparaging any race in any shape or manner. There is nothing wrong with the subtitle.
  22. Yeah. Vuk was also an interim for Elia in Philly so it all evens out.

  24. I think the big advantage for football and basketball is that they offer more scholarship opportunities. I don't think it's a big problem. If black players aren't being systematically excluding from playing competitive baseball despite equal skill, there is no story. Now it might be a problem when it comes to marketing the game to african-americans. The problem there is that Major League Baseball has no interest in marketing the game to people who don't have big stacks of money. And the well-heeled customers, black, white or otherwise, are not going to be influenced by the skin color of the players. In fairness, most dark-skinned latinos do not consider themselves black. It's a fair distinction to make, in my opinion. The problem is that dark-skinned latinos were every bit as unwelcome as blacks in Major League Baseball. So to pretend they don't exist when discussing MLB's "diversity" is dishonest.
