I'm not a Nascar fan myself, but that's enough with the "Nascar sucks" posts.
-
For $10-15, I'll give it a chance.
-
In retrospect, that was pretty stupid on Ryan's part. He could've easily busted a knuckle on his pitching hand.
-
A couple of points. 1. Yeah, pushing out the core fanbase sucks. It's what happens though when corporate money gets involved. It's a good business decision for the sport, the problem being that the common fan gets screwed. 2. Absolutely you could put a track in NYC and sell. I live five miles from a Nascar track. Our entire county has 138,000, and they draw 150,000+ twice a year for auto racing.

Better yet, the Guerreros match from AWA features Eric Bischoff on commentary.
-
Doubtful. As a left-handed batter, McCann would face the pitcher with his non-glove hand.
-
Brian McCann got hurt on the hand thanks to a catcher's interference call and now he's out of the game.

Sad stat: At 11-14, this is the Phillies' best April yet under Charlie Manuel.

The Undertaker tears his bicep.

At least with the timing, they can easily announce he suffered a major injury IN the match at Backlash. That would make sense from a storyline perspective and give them an easy out. -

She said "typer," not me.

They've been engaged since either December or January.

The asshole comment refers to me in general, not just this incident. This instance, certainly. But it's not the way I act most of the time.
-
She posts a blog. He responds. Which prompts my response.
-
A bit of both, admittedly. I could just ignore it all, but I've seen enough of his idiocy.

My ex-girlfriend says I'm an asshole, apparently since I said some not so friendly things about her current boyfriend's intellect. So am I an asshole, or is she just crazy?

I think it would help if the Marlins paid for their own damn stadium. It still amazes me that they can fall $30 million short of a stadium, cry poverty, and then sign Carlos Delgado to a $56 million contract. You would think someone would catch on to the bullshit by now. As far as other markets, the problem with Portland, San Antonio, Las Vegas, etc. is that they all lack secondary markets. All are relatively isolated so that you can draw within the city, but there's no profit to be made outside of it. That's a big issue. It's too bad there's no city in Canada or someplace that can get creative and be the only team in a French-speaking providence.

Langerhans is 2 for 41? Ouch. Focusing on such small samples is why your Phillies are so horrible. No, the Phillies stink because they're clearly not scrappy enough.

No game today, but I wanted to post some quick thoughts regarding Josh Hancock. Hancock died early this morning in an automobile accident. Besides his Major League career, Hancock spent most of 2003-04 pitching for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. Hancock came over in the Jeremy Giambi deal and while he looked like a decent pitching prospect, but the Phils dealt him for Todd Jones late in the '04 campaign. I would like to say I remember Josh Hancock on the mound, and while I believe I did, I can not honestly say I vividly remember it. My friend who worked for the Barons probably has more memories of Hancock, and I'm looking forward to talking to him about it. It's a shame when any pitcher dies young, especially when he came up through your area. I posted an article at TSM about Hancock, which included a quote from former teammate Jim Rushford. One thing I neglected to mention in my last entry. Before the game one Ottawa player stepped up the dugout steps to sign a few autographs. I didn't need to consult a scorecard to know who it was. Rushford was and still is a player who seemingly takes time before every game to sign autographs. I am talking about every single game. I have never seen a player take more time for the fans than Rushford. Though his exploits on the field may not carry much acclaim, he deserves mention as one of the game's good guys.

From MILB.com... Good to hear from Jim Rushford, who is really one of the great guys in Minor League Baseball.

Well, the tax payers around Milwaukee certainly do, after building Miller Park at the very least... They built it, but they don't come. Cub fans driving up from Kenosha and the northern suburbs are the ones keeping the lights on at that place. I can't shake the feeling that we're dealing with people who, all things being equal, would rather just watch the Packers year-round. Looking at attendance numbers, the Brewers' average of 32,462 so far is the second highest in team history, behind only 2001 (Miller Park opening). It's tough to draw fans to a perennial non-contender, especially when they play in one of MLB's smallest markets.

TBS replayed the unassisted triple play. I tuned in at the 10th. This is looking like one of the great games of the season.
-
SHIT. Hancock pitched two seasons for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He had a nice season last year and had finally established himself. A real shame.

Making personnel decisions based on a month's worth of baseball is how you end up with Dave Ross in the first place. Replacing a bunch of spots sounds ideal until you remember that you have to give raises to the arbitration guys, stock your bullpen and bench, etc. You can't build an offense through free agency. Looking at the Reds, they have little to offer in the farm system in terms of immediate help. Joey Votto can take over at first base next year, but the rest will have to wait. The Reds should pick up Dunn's option because they won't do better on the market. Dunn strikes out a ton, and that doesn't matter a bit. What he doesn't do is ground into double plays. The Reds next year, if Josh Hamilton can handle the job, is give him right field and make Griffey the fourth outfielder. Griffey's skating by largely on reputation at this point. Ryan Freel needs to take center because Griffey can't and Hamilton is not an ideal solution there. Players of Hamilton's stature never last in center field. Encarnacion should turn it around and Brandon Phillips should play better. Their tough job this offseason will be finding a solution behind the plate.
