  2. I never saw the big deal in Rockers comments. He ripped on New York City. We've all done that at some point, haven't we?
  3. The Bucky Dent home run gets attention because it turned a two run Red Sox lead into a one run deficit. More importantly, it was Bucky F'n Dent. A guy who slugged .317 that year. He is not the kind of hitter you expect to pop a three run home run. Anyway, here is mine. Derek Jeter is actually a poor defensive shortstop.
  4. Joe Torre gets a pass because I have criticized the Yankees' failure to produce a complete team, and I wrote that their bench was among the worse in baseball. I can't fault Torre for failing to produce with absolutely nothing of value. As for Cashman, I think many of us assume that Steinbrenner is pulling the strings and Cashman is helpless to do anything sensible.
  5. Also worth noting it was only game five, and there were two games left.
  6. The Yankees? They're still in the league?
  7. It's a typo, but it probably feels that way for Yankee fans.
  8. The beauty of this is now Mariano Rivera is going to be unavailable tomorrow.
  9. Another clutch fielding play from a PROVEN~! Yankee.
  10. Check the local cable station's channel. Sometimes the game is on elsewhere. Not tonight. It is a Comcast game tonight, not a Mid Atlantic Spots Network game. When that's the case (this season) and the Wizards are also have a playoff game, the game just isn't on at all. Happened Tuesday also. Only MASN games on the other stations. It seems completely ridiculous to me that the Wizards game is on Comcast Sportsnet and ESPN (which happen to be back to back stations on my lineup). Oddly enough, the game IS on in DC tonight since Comcast owns News Channel 8 and they just put it on there. That's what they do for the Phillies game. My cable service does not have CN8, but they'll carry the Phillies games as a courtesy. The one time they did not the game was carried by MSG, so that worked out.
  11. Check the local cable station's channel. Sometimes the game is on elsewhere.
  12. Hold on a second. ESPN.com's article has this to say... Is it not likely that the Red Barons' website carries a typo?
  13. For real fun, the last white MVP award winner behind Nash and Bird was.... Bill Walton.
  14. Larry Bird I believe.
  15. I feel bad for Bruiser, but MAN.
  16. I went ahead and did the compilations. I have 27 for centers, 12 for forwards, and twelve for guards. Some of that might be slightly inaccurate, as I counted all of Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson's MVPs for guards, since I do not have position by year available. Besides MJ and Magic, the only guards to win an MVP are Oscar Robertson, Bob Cousy, Allen Iverson, and now Steve Nash.
  17. For Phillies fans, the team called up Robinson Tejeda to replace Worrell in the bullpen. Tejeda struck out 133 and walked 59 in 150.3 IP in AA Reading last year, but surrendered 29 home runs in the process. This season in AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, he has struck out 28 in 28.3 IP, with 13 walks, and no home runs. He's just 23, and I think that with a move to the bullpen, he can be a welcome surprise in the bullpen. He can reach the mid-90s with his fastball.
  18. Big situation here with Derrek Lee up.
  19. Ball is carrying in Wrigley today. At least Lidle is a groundball pitcher. After this series, at least one group of fans (Cubs or Phillies) can breathe a little easier.
  20. Also, I am looking to trade Jerry Hairston and Joe Blanton, possibly in a package (actually, preferably). I am looking for a first baseman in return, but will consider all offers.
  21. Lance Berkman returns to the lineup next week, ensuring my continued dominance in this league.
  22. There is no correlation between strikeouts and scoring runs. The team is frequently among the league leaders in BB:K ratio, so that is not a problem. As for the Yankees, 85 wins tops. Teams with Tony Womack in left field do not win divisions.
  23. Well, Abreu has hit .293/.438/.443 in close and late situations since 2002, but what do the statistics know?
  24. I think there is still hope for the Phillies. The team slugging percentage is .359, which HAS to improve in the near future. I honestly think Marlon Byrd needs to be handed the starting center field job. Vicente Padilla should get demoted to the bullpen until he demonstrates he can pitch, and Ryan Madson should be given a chance to start. Madson, Byrd, Utley, Ryan Howard. With Thome out, those four need to be given opportunities. There is still time to turn this around, and the talent is there.
  25. "Everybody Has Their Price" Well, if the Yankees want to fuck over their farm system yet again for three months of an over 40 pitcher, fine by me. It is EXACTLY these kind of moves that have the Yankees up the creek right now.
