For those complaining about the Yankees/Sox games, those games like it or not get the best ratings. Other teams' attendance figures CLEARLY increase when those teams play road games in their stadiums. Should you really expect differently? Good All-Star teams for the most part. I think the player voting is very flawed. They vote the same way the fans do, but if the choices agree then the league just takes the players second place finisher for the team. So if the players were to vote Mauer 85%, Varitek 10%, Varitek would get a selection that way. I'm happy there were no middle relievers selected this season. I'll have thoughts on the Brad Lidge contract extension later.

I've grown indifferent to the selection process. If a guy is legitimately the best player in the league at his position, and has proven that, then he deserves to play in the game. Otherwise it's circumstance. The rosters are terribly bloated, we've now gone to the point where we are debating the 28-32nd best players in the league.

Looks like possibly the shortest rain delay in history. Not to worry, if the game were called it's a Met victory anyway.

What about giving George Kottaras a shot?

Ryan Church left the game with dizziness. That's a baaaaaad sign.

For all intents the last pick. Surprising a bit that we have not selected a single match from the vast archives of the AWA. With my final selection, I take perhaps their best match. Nick Bockwinkel vs. Curt Hennig - November 15, 1986 - One Hour Draw

The first War Games match from the GAB 87 is up right now. There were two Wargames matches on that tour. Ah, I see. Well, no big deal if the matches were almost carbon copies, eh? Yeah. I'm a bit partial to the original as the Road Warriors f*** up J.J. Dillon for the win, but the second is good as well.

Red Sox/Yankees, Cardinals/Cubs and Mets/Phillies today, yet no posts? The Cardinals won on a two-out, two run single in the ninth, quite a finish. John Maine just left the game in the sixth inning with an injury to his non-pitching arm.

Awful. Flyball pitcher in Citizens Bank Park? It's bad enough to watch Brett Myers.

I'm waiting for that epic El Gigante vs. Mr. Hughes matchup. -
I've heard some systems pulled Wargames '95 due to legal reasons. My working assumption is that there's a version with Michael Buffer's intros, but that is just a guess. The PYBO is not up yet.

http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/basketball/369313_trial03.html Seattle and Clay Bennett settled. The Sonics move to Oklahoma City for next season.

The question is: Will the D-Backs bounce back, or will the NL West potentially be won by a sub-.500 team? Bounce-back. With the unbalanced schedule, someone will climb a few games above.

The best part of Wargames '89 was Paul attempting to shove his phone through the cage, panning out to see Tommy Young glaring at him. Terry Gordy and Steve Williams brawling against one another is notable too.

I get the feeling I should delete interleague play before looking at win/loss records. Only five teams in the National League are above .500 right now. Only four teams in the AL are below .500. ESPN.com added playoff odds to their regular standings page. I actually disagree with that. Standings need to be straight facts, not projections. I think a lot of fans are going to misconstrue what they mean. The White Sox have won seven straight while the Tribe lost five, dropping the Indians to 12.5 out of the division race. Time to write them off.
-
What the Rays did is shore up their defense, turning it from historically bad to pretty good. The run prevention followed. I'm not sold on them as division favorites yet, I think they will come back a bit in the second half. It will take a big slide though to take them entirely out of contention, and I think they will win the wild card at least this season. What is scary is that their best pitcher is yet to come.

Here's a first (for me at least). In the Scranton/Lehigh Valley game, Jason Lane scored from first on a WALK. Eric Duncan walked with ball four a wild pitch. Lane took off for third, catcher Jason Jaramillo threw the ball past third base to allow Lane to score.

Vader was indeed in the '93 version, he went bell to bell. We used to have a video store that carried the '87 Great American Bash tape. That had both Wargames matches from that tour, and several other good matches. The second Wargames is good, the first one is ***** territory. The 1995 version wasn't bad at all, and in fact Sting and Shark starting off put on a good five minute segment. 1992 is an absolute classic, possibly the greatest match WCW produced in the 1990s.

Really now?

The match on the Horsemen dvd is actually from 1988. The original has yet to hit dvd.

The ECW show is the infamous lesbian angle, so you might've wanted to see that. A torrent site should have the show available before long. -
Usually an eight-man Texas Tornado style tag match is the kind of event that lets you hide a guy's weaknesses. Hadn't seen it before.

This is really true throughout their history. The Rockies usually have the greatest differential between their home and away records in baseball.
