  1. This month 24/7 has ten WarGames matches in total. Here's a catch-all thread for discussion. I watched '93 for the first time this morning. Definately a let-down. You want a double-cage blowoff match to be something epic. This went maybe two minutes after Ottman entered the ring, and the faces were never even threatened by then! Four heels standing at the end, none of them bloodied at all.
  2. R.J. Swindle has been called up to Philadelphia. Swindle's numbers speak for themselves, a 10:1 K/BB ratio, three career home runs allowed in over 200 professional innings. He does not have overpowering stuff, he's a lefty with two breaking pitches. A mid 80s slider, and an eephus curveball.
  3. I don't know if this has been posted, but BBC News has an article on Kofi Kingston. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7469398.stm
  4. I'm glad the Bockwinkel draw is there, it beats a VHS copy.
  5. Brett Myers was optioned down to AAA. On a professional level, he may be physically hurt and trying to pitch through it. Hopefully he can relocate his stuff in any case. On a personal level, fuck him and his wife-beating ass. The Phils also signed their first round pick, Anthony Hewitt and assigned him to Clearwater. Unless the intent is simply to condition him in their Spring Training facility, that's awfully optimistic.
  6. They're teenagers. It just might be apropros.
  7. I haven't seen the list, but there are guys like Gene Kiniski, Killer Kowalski, Mad Dog Vachon, Eduoard Carpentier, Roddy Piper, Hans Schmidt, Whipper Billy Watson and Pat Patterson who likely occupy top spots. If wrestler/promoters are considered, Stu Hart and Jacques Rougeau Sr. probably rate highly.
  8. In this case, there has not been any pennant race action in the NL in two weeks.
  9. Chattanooga scored two in the 15th, turns out you left too early.
  10. We actually ran the concept in 2005. There will be one, likely in the offseason as the others clear out and regular talk on the sport wanes.
  11. This is just an opinion, but isn't it time to give this concept a break?
  12. Two choices. Let's see. Roddy Piper vs. Greg Valentine -Dog Collar Match, Starrcade '83 Pat Patterson vs. Sgt. Slaughter - Alley Fight at MSG (1981)
  13. The Yankees called up David Robertson from AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. 23 years old, Robertson has 187 K's in just 136 career minor league innings. He has yet to give up a home run in his professional career. He nor his stuff is visually impressive, but he produces results.
  14. Give me a couple days, I'll try to develop a list of old school things. I think Fred Blassie/John Tolos from 1971 in the Olympic Auditorium should be on there.
  15. This interleague stuff is incredibly frustrating and tiresome to watch from the perspective of the National League. When their Boston series began, they were three games up on the division. The Phillies have stunk up the joint, going 2-7 in their last nine games. Now? Two games up. It seems like the entire National League has just stood idle for the last two weeks. I mean, when you go 2-7 it should hurt your standing somehow.
  16. Here's another link without the sex advertisements. It's fake. Nice job of the gatorade people to make Elizer Alfonzo a left-handed catcher halfway through. What strikes me though is that in this scenario, that ball is in play. It's no different than Steve Bartman making a grab for the ball.
  17. Canadian Guitarist is up for two picks, followed by King Cucharacha.
  18. The U.S. team only has two players lower than AA, both pitchers.
  19. No way. Tony the bastard. Apparently has a tremendous changeup.
  20. The snow law is very legitimate, IMO. I've been hit by chunks of ice flying off of trucks. At the least, drivers who drive off with snow create a visibility hazard to other drivers. Yes, I'm guilty of this myself.
  21. Futures Game Rosters announced. U.S. Roster World Roster Of note, Yankees' prospect Jesus Montero made the World roster.
  22. I had meant to write that I could again be skipped. My apologies. Skip me if I come around again before Sunday, I'll be hit or miss after tomorrow afternoon. Match one shows how good Adonis & Murdoch were as a team. A great six-man that aired on 24/7 several months ago. Wild Samoans & Sgt. Slaughter vs. Adrian Adonis, Dick Murdoch and Capt. Lou Albano - MSG Second match, I'll throw a nod to one of the forgotten classics of the '90s. Probably the first **** match I ever saw. Lightning Kid vs. Jerry Lynn - Global (2/3 Falls, Light Heavyweight Title)
  23. http://www.minnpost.com/markneuzil/2008/06...layed_in_secret
  24. Curt Schilling: 3.46 ERA, 127 ERA+ Jack Morris: 3.90 ERA, 105 ERA+ There really is a clear difference in their performances over their careers. I'll elaborate later if you like, but I think that speaks for itself.
  25. MYSTERIOUSONEWDI: giving away all those millions made them skimp on construction
