First match is a legendary tag match from 1994. El Hijo del Santo & Octagon vs. Eddy Guerrero & Art Barr - Masks vs. Hair, Best of Three Falls, Elimination Format - AAA When Worlds Collide Second is a bit of comedy match. In normal terms it's a stretch, but for this style it is heads above any other match I would want to see. Hulk Hogan vs. The Genius - Saturday Night's Main Event

Anyone else pick up Rock's dvd? There's no interviews with him or anything. I was disappointed in the matches. Looking back, I really despise that era with the constant interference every single match. The soundbites on disc three are fun though.

All-Time Wrestling Roster Draft
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to PILLS! PILLS! PILLS!'s topic in Draft Faggotry
It's about f'n time guys. Buddy Rogers was first round material. Seriously, legends are still available and you're stocking your rosters with the likes of Jerry F'n Lynn? -
FWIW, after strumming through the January '00 box scores, it looks like the Unnamed Star Player was Gary Payton, tossed by Unnamed Referee Ted Bernhardt. Sonics @ Knicks, 1/24/00 I note the game recap has a story underneath addressing the circumstances. That's quite helpful.

Eh, Donaghy is facing jail time and has to gain by exposing as much as he can. I'm not putting stock in anything he says.

The problem with all of the focus on oil and energy is that a great deal of the price rise is really artificial. Speculators are driving up the price, and what can you really do to legislate on that?

LSU certainly didn't want to leave their game in doubt. They advance with a 21-7 shellacking of UC Irvine. Meanwhile, Fresno St. pulled off a huge upset by advancing over Arizona State. Fresno St. was the #4 seed in their regional, and they become the first #4 to reach Omaha.
-
Rice and Miami win to advance. Only LSU/UC Irvine so far tomorrow, unless Fresno St. wins the late game.

I'd have to think the Elias Sports Bureau would be the only people able to figure that one out. Maybe Jayson Stark's column will bring it up.

Small clarification, it was Earthquake who fell to the hold.

A true Phillies' fan can never become overconfident. http://www.baseball-reference.com/games/st...date=1964-09-20 Consider though that the Phils have nod led a division by this margin since 2001. The last few years the team has fought desperately from behind. I'm not saying this thing is in the bag by a longshot. I fully expect the Mets to get hot and close the gap sometime in the next month or two. But this race is far more comfortable in the driver's seat.

Seriously? I thought Philly was doing better than that for some reason. I meant the Braves are 6.5 back. Apologies for my bad pronoun usage.

LSU scores two in the eighth, five in the ninth to bail themselves out against UC Irvine and win 9-7. Third and deciding game tomorrow. Georgia advances to the college World Series.

I would like to announce my new man-crush on Tony Clark.

It would have to be the double DQ, as the phantom title switch never actually aired on SNME.

The MSG shows often held their main events before the end of the card. Usually they would have the main event, then a couple lesser matches to carry them to the 11pm curfew.

Watching this show now on WWE 24/7. A handful of thoughts. -Roddy Piper is quite obnoxious outside the ring. Ric Flair mentions that Piper accompanied him to the ring in that infamous defense against Jack Veneno in the Dominican. No wonder the fans wanted to riot. -The midget match features Tiger Jackson. Jackson acquired bigger fame in wrestling nearly a decade later, as Dink the Clown. Watching Jackson, I'm surprised he did not receive more acclaim in the midget wrestling circuit. He's good. -A main event anywhere in the country? It sounds silly at times. But if a regional circuit ran Jay Strongbow vs. Masked Superstar, they probably could have sold a large house. The phrase became a joke when wrestling went national, but if you look at regional circuits and the talent WWE signed, you can see the purpose.

Having runners on second and third helped. The Phillies are still rolling, a sweep of Atlanta leaves them 6.5 back of first place.
-
Florida St. and North Carolina win their games to advance to Omaha, joining Stanford. Meanwhile, Georgia has scored seven runs in the first inning. Not a good day so far for competitive baseball.
-
4-3 Phillies in the ninth. I'd hate to see the Braves lose yet another one-run game, so hopefully the Phillies can tack on more runs to ease the pain.

Dan Giese again outpitches Joba Chamberlain.

I have five different games to choose from right now with the Yankees/Royals, Phillies/Braves, IronPigs/Red Wings, and two college playoff games.

Being that it's around 90 this weekend and my air conditioner cant even keep my room cold with that heat, I promised a hearty "fuck you" to everyone who bitched when the weather was palatable. So Czech, here's your's.

A packed schedule with seven games today. ESPN has 1pm and 4pm games, ESPN2 has a 7pm game. Alternate games apparently on ESPNU. A Super-Regional is best of three, so there are three winner-takes-all games today. 1pm North Carolina vs. Coastal Carolina (NC leads series 1-0) Florida St. vs. Wichita St. (series tied 1-1) 4pm NC State vs. Georgia (series tied 1-1) LSU vs. UC Irvine (UC Irvine leads series 1-1) 7pm Miami vs. Arizona (series tied 1-1) Texas A&M vs. Rice (Rice leads series 1-0) 10pm Arizona St. vs. Fresno St. (Arizona St. leads series 1-0)

King of the Ring: The Early Years
EVIL~! alkeiper replied to DrVenkman PhD's topic in WWE Multimedia
I hadn't watched the King of the Ring '93 show in maybe 15 years. Bret Hart wrestles three good matches on the show. The other matches on the tournament are decent enough not to drag things down. The middle matches are ok, nothing spectacular but inoffensive. Hogan/Yokozuna is a piece of wrestling history. It's hard to believe now that Hogan would not wrestle in the promotion again for another nine years.
