  1. Drew Olson automatically fell to #4 on the depth chart when they signed Troy Smith. I think Olson was an undrafted FA in 2006 and Troy Smith was drafted in the 5th round this year and won a Heisman.. Its funny cause Olson has #10 and Smith had to take #11. I think Troy Smith fits in better in a transition from McNair and that will probably be happening in 2009 I imagine, and he'll be the backup next year after Boller is gone. I also forgot, theres a ton of buzz on Yamon Figurs and he has blazing speed and has an easy chance to outseat BJ Sams at the return guy and possibly even pick up a WR spot. The WR spot is tough because they have a lot of talent (Mason,Clayton, Demetrius Williams plus underperforming guys like Devard Darling and Clarence Moore who could show an improvement in the opened up offense..) but with Sams coming off the injury last year, even as much as I like him, the buzz on Figurs is big and I think he'll at least take Sams job at some point in the season, if not at the very beginning.
  2. Im thinking about going up to Westminster to see the Ravens practice next week. Im gonna find a Mark Clayton Jersey and yell BOOMER SOONER to get attention/autograph lol..and remind him he's a 3rd year receiver so hes supposed to break out this year. He'll be the #1 reciever by the end of the year after Mason keeps falling. Im supposed to believe Rick Neuhiesel is going to improve the offense, and he probably will but it wont be anything more than the fact that McGahee being in the backfield will open things up a lot more than when they had Jamal back there. The Sun had an article today and it was saying that McGahee has brought the same type of swagger that the defense has had for several years to the offense. I have good hopes that he'll be a vast improvement over Jamal but I dont see him doing better than say, 1300 yards and 12 TD. The key though is that his presence will open up the rest of the offense.. The key to this year is whether or not they really envision Troy Smith as the future QB of the Ravens in say..2 years. Boller is history after this year and I certainly dont think Drew Olson is the future. Im really hoping that 1+ seasons working under McNair will help Smith blossom into an NFL QB and not end up a bust like everyone says he will. The telling tale of the season will be the 3 game stretch starting at the end of the November when they play at San Diego and then New England on MNF and turn around and have Indy the next Sunday Night, a freaking tough ass 3 game stretch. Up to that point I think they can go 8-2 (Bengals and Browns twice, Cardinals, Jets, 49ers, Rams, Bills and Steelers) , and after those 3 games they should be able to go 2-1 (Dolphins, Seahawks, Steelers), so how well they do in those 3 games should decide if they can win more than 10 games. If anything being at home for the MNF/SNF games give them an advantage but probably not that much. Oh, and they need to lock up Terrell Suggs to a long term deal. Worried about the Dwight Freeney deal money, but I think they'll end up giving him a better deal than what Adalius Thomas got from NE (just think about that for a second..hmm) but not as good as Freeney got. But I think they need to do whatever they have to do to keep Suggs..
  3. Its funny here because in two seperate areas there were a Rite Aid and an Eckerds on the same corner, and Rite Aid had just put two new stores across from the Eckerds that they're now closing because Eckerds had the better location. We just got a Walgreens though and I must say Walgreens > Rite Aid In town we have a KFC/LJS though which is kinda odd, they tore down the old KFC and remodeled it into the KFC/LJS, but Im not really a fan of LJS fish, ehh..and Im allergic to shrimp and all shellfish so.. I like the combo of Dunkin Donuts and Baskin Robins for some reason. And I was shocked the day I learned that McDonalds owned Boston Market..
  4. Are you looking forward to the FOX version coming this fall?
  5. At some point by the end of the year supposedly.. Although if WWF wanted to put RAW in HD on, Im sure they could simulcast it on Universal HD just the same until USA goes HD. It'd be interesting to see if they letterbox SD on non-HD feeds to keep it widescreen or not..
  6. If nothing else, I still cant believe Im in first place. Anyway... Keepers Joe Nathan Round 2 Erik Bedard Round 4 Chris Duncan Round 11 Ryan Braun (Undrafted) Corey Hart (Undrafted) Brian McCann (Keeper from last year) Took Out Guthrie..Im not sold on him much any more..sigh
  7. They obviously didnt want to throw a ton of 3rd level and below characters out there and risk confusing the casual simpsons fan/ non-simpsons fan being dragged to see it. Though Im pretty sure that just about all of them were probably in the mob to get Homer.. Also, Im found it hillarious the Rock has been religated to doing stupid Disney Comedies now..
  8. and screw this because my CW doesn't do HD and probably wont anytime soon.
  9. Randy Orton's happy a chinlock isn't a chokehold..
  10. Donkey Kong = Mark Henry Plus he could be a ref like in Punch Out..
  11. Benefit of living where I am is that I dont have to worry about getting mugged..though being shot at is a possibility given the amount of hunters in the area. I used to not even bother locking up my old car but I do now..still dont lock my house up though most of the time.
  12. HDMI cables can be had at Wal Mart for like $30 and places on the net for half of that. Upconverting is nice, but its not HD and the picture in HD will still look tons better.

When all of the over the air channels are no longer used, the frequencies that they are broadcast on can be re-allocated for other things that use radio frequencies. Police radios, wireless microphones, etc. Maybe someone else can explain it a bit better than me. From Cnet back in April Wireless Broadband for everyone!
  14. It says something about how shitty Day 6 of 24 was that it was the first day not to be nominated for best Drama Series though Kiefer got nominated for best Lead Actor.
  15. Rockstar is bringing Bully and Table Tennis to Nintendo.. Table Tennis makes sense..bully..uh..yeah..
  16. Big bump to say that you'll be happy that NBC is strongly considering reviving American Gladiators to air after Sunday Night Football.

EFA Honsestly, the government is having enough trouble as it is with the transition to only digital ota that might affect at most like..10% of the country since most people dont even depend on analog over the air signals at all, they threw the rabbit ears out with the garbage 10 years ago. A switch to HD would impact about 75% of the country right now, it wouldnt matter if you get cable, satellite, ota or whatever. And Im not even going to get into the fact that there isn't even enough programming in HD to fill 1/100th of the channels full time that are available right now.. Someday..HD will become the norm and the SD channels will go away..but it wont be in the next 20 years. And by that time there will be ULTRA HD too..
  18. Tejada's coming back July 27th, supposedly.
  19. The Os need some teams to be really desperate at the trade deadline and want to make deals for Steve Trachsel, Kevin Millar and Jay Gibbons. Im not going to advocate trading the whole team as theres no need for that, although if they get offers that they can pass up for other players they might as well go for it. Im actually pretty sure Trachsel is gone since hes one of the names getting thrown around and theres a lack of available pitching. That lack of available starting pitching has me thinking they might get an offer they cant pass up for Cabrera and take it as well. But Millar and Gibbons are going to take some desperation to get rid of. I think its possible that the Os still could have a shot at .500 (39-30 to finish the season) and I was shocked to see them included in ESPN's wild card picture (13 GB) but a .500 finish would be nice..

Because the guys at BestBuy are such an authority on federal government legislation, even if it somewhat remotely applies to the stuff they're selling. The government doesn't give a rats ass what format (SD,ED,HD..1080i/720p..4:3,16:9) that content is broadcast in, they just want it off the analog spectrum so they can auction that off and make a ton of money on the analog spectrum for other uses besides sending your grandmother with the analog tv and antenna and no cable her soap operas every day for 3 hours and the news at 6.
  21. Im a jinx! Bedards not pitching tonight due to a stiff neck and D-Cab is pitching instead, though Bedrock will pitch on friday vs Oakland (though I wont get to see it, damnit)
  22. I liked how that pointed out that Reggie was overweight when he got on it.

Tivo is a great user friendly dvr, and Im going to miss the dual live buffers on mine (the directv dvr only has 1 live 90 minute buffer as opposed to the tivos dual 30 minute buffers). But ultimately the HD-tivo would become a boat anchor next year anyway due to Directv converting to mpeg4 HD. and the only thing the government has mandated in regards to tv is that in Feb of 09 over the air analog signals will be shut off. It has nothing to do with HD.
  24. Applebees is the #1 Casual Dining Restaurant Chain in America, but the fact that they got bought out by a lesser chain in IHOP (#2 in Family Dining behind Denny's) is odd. Im sure that Applebees wont start changing over to IHOPs, in fact it might end up being the otherway around.
  25. Heartland is a stinker in the ratings. and did the WWF ditch that montage at the start of their shows..I didnt see it last night.
