  1. As if TSM will be around in 3 years, let alone long enough for that to happen.

It just means that the broadcasters must transmit digitally. If your cable company decides to downconvert to analog still you will be just peachy keen. And Mole, a lot of people use attenna's to grab local OTA HD off the air. I have Dish Network, which I assume is digital. It only affects me as I get local channels through an ancient antenna because I can't obtain them other ways... and I'm sure we'll be getting an HDTV in the next 2.3. I'm more curious because I think this will piss off lots o' people. I doubt anyones going to be pissed off. Supposedly the government is subsidizing production of set top converter boxes to help produce them fast enough and to lower costs. I dont think they've agreed on it though, but no one is going to be completely without TV after April 2009.
  3. Id go start a line on the other side of the door for a W!!. Thatd be funny. or not.
  4. We have the same tv almost exactly...so duh.
  5. Maryland could have 60 in the first half and is up 35 already..

I probably should have been more specific. Min. Bitrate for an HD-OTA Signal. although I have no clue what you were going for with 5-7
  7. Well, Ive at least heard of him. I doubt that makes him worth so much. also heard something about Benson/Gibbons for Vernon Wells..hmm Fuck no. It would only be appropriate that Jay Gibbons go back to Toronto though. The hitch on the deal is Wells is a FA after next season and I doubt they'll be able to resign him. I really dont care about Gibbons, he can go..but Benson..they really should try and keep him despite his wishes not to want to stay..
  8. Maryland is handling St Johns pretty easily. I doubt they'll fare as well vs Texas/Michigan St. though, but its good to see them playing well vs teams that aren't jokes.

Mole..Im gonna be blunt. YOU DONT KNOW SHIT ABOUT HD You can get HD signals with a $1 pair of cheap rabbit ears if the signal originiates close enough to you. Antenna companies are preying on dummies like you who dont do at least a bit of basic research. That being said, I have said "HD DIGITAL READY SUPER ANTENNA" because I dont live close enough to the towers and had to buy an antenna, and mine cost almost $100 because I tried and returned about 5 others and could never pull in all the signals. The $100 one is the best and it still sucks if the wind blows wrong. Really? So I can get an HD channel with the old antenna that is sitting on top of my house? And I don't know anything about HD? Hmm, news to me too. You can get a signal with it provided that you have an HD OTA signal thats strong enough. HD POP QUIZ! Whats the minimum bitrate (Mbps) for an HD signal?

  12. That 1080i thing sucks. Thats pretty much all CRT HD-TVs Wouldnt it suck for the ebayers if the PS3 has some sort of huge glitch thats found out early and suddenly no one wants one?
  13. Im convinced that Target will be the best place here to go for a W!!. First of all, supposedly the Target here is getting 33 which is nice to know semi-for sure how many they are getting. Next, theres a Wal Mart, Best Buy and Circuit City within 5 minutes of the Target (and each other) and they are all selling at midnight, whereas Target wont open til the morning. Theres also a TRU about 5 minutes away which will be opening at the same time and rumored to have more than they allowed preorders for, but after standing in line there for a preorder and not getting it, I dont have any faith in my TRU here having more than a couple despite rumors. I doubt anyone will be standing in line at Target prior to those stores selling out at midnight. Im figuring on having to be there about 5 am and I should be able to get one even if a few people from other stores go to Target as a last chance shot.
  14. The Os signed some nobody LHP from Detroit that Ive never heard of 3 years 12 million. whoo!

There are still places where satellite services dont offer locals (I should know, I live in such an area).
  16. We're supposed to get the huge ass storms here tonight with wind and rain and a tornado warning. I wonder who'll be out there in it..
  17. BUZZ Correct answer is: 480p or DVD resolution utilizing the component cables The big question I have is, what 3 games warrant being bought if I go to Target to take advantage of the gift card with 3 games deal. Zelda, Red Steel and ?? I was thinking Madden but I haven't heard anything about it.
  18. We got a local fox station this year and I was hoping that they'd be able to show the occasional FOX televised Ravens game, but..no..damn 3-6 Redskins vs 2-7 Buccaneers..yeehaw. I do not understand NFL tv market decisions.
  19. Sucks that the cables are only available online. Im hesitant to order the cables now without knowing if I'll have a W!! anytime soon or not as Im still really on the fence about getting one anytime soon.. You can get a brand new CRT HD TV set anywhere now for $500 (30 inches with a built in tuner), and as long as you're willing to deal with the hefty nature of it, its the best overal picture and will give you the benefits of an HDTV picture wise without having to spend the extra $500+ to get the benefits of the HDTV picture and space saving qualities of LCD/Plasma. Make sure you get one with multiple component inputs (mine has 2) and at least one HDMI input (Mine had a DVI so I had to buy a DVI-HDMI cable) since HDMI is the new standard. CRT sets by the way are all 1080i native. Component cables can run HD signals as long as the device that you're running the HD from supports it. I have my HDTivo running on Component inputs for example so that my upconverting DVD player can run over the DVI port because it doesn't support upconverting over the component inputs.
  20. By that time, the holographic discs will be close to being out..they store 10x as much as a BluRay disc supposedly..at some point it gets pointless because what the hell can you do with 500 gb on one disc? The Dual Players will never happen unless one company surrenders and some sort of compromise is allowed to at least seem consumer friendly..as long as they are both still going there wont be a dual player out, or at least a legal one.
  21. The surround sound benefits are pointless to me, I dont have surround sound and since Im practically deaf in my left ear it makes no sense for me.
  22. its downrezed to DVD resolutions
  23. TV on High Def disc formats will still span several discs for newer shows that were shot in HD, as I doubt they'll go to the trouble to re-release them in SD on just one disc when SD versions are already out. Older shows that weren't in HD might fit one one disc, especially if you're talking Blu-Ray. The only people interested right now are early adopters. People who have had HD tv sets for a while would appreciate the HD quality of the movies, I know I love watching movies on HD Net or Universal HD. I still stick by Blu Ray winning with larger capacity discs and the PS3 giving them faster penetration into households. But I think its going to be at least 2 years before players are cheap enough that people get really interested in either format. What it might take is a gutsy studio with a high profile release to say, if you want anything more than just the movie, by the HD version by putting out bare bones discs for DVD. That might piss some people off, but it would at least give the HD versions an tangible advantage over the DVD versions. Right now, people only figure that the picture quality is better and, if they dont have a HD TV, whats the point...
  24. Id rather have a crazy mom than a big angry black man.
  25. I got the Piper DVD for 18 bucks off deepdiscountdvd..pretty good deal. Looking forward to when it comes.
