ASB 2004 - Orioles vs D-Rays @ Tropicanna Field 5-4, bottom 9, 2 out, 1 on (2nd) Julio pitching to some D-Rays batter (I forget). The guy hits a ball to left field that Bigbie can't catch. I was willing to concede the blown save, tried to cut the ball off but it kept rolling and it eventually rolled THROUGH the OF wall where I couldn't get it and ended up being a walk off technically not inside the park HR. I was pissed too, even though in the grand scheme of things the loss didn't matter.

Going back to last night.. I'll agree that the call on that pitch was bad, but the Royals also benefited from a "Its 11-2, lets get this over with" call on Newhan's hit to centerfield that was ruled an out even though the ball clearly bounced into DeJesus' glove. As for the All Star Game, no Oriole is going to be a starter but Tejada has to go as a backup. Tejada will probably be the only Oriole to go.

Even in the slim chance that the Bums manage to make the playoffs (only 1 GB) I don't think Marvin Jenkins will be back in NY for 2017.

Actually, the NFL won't let ESPN Classic show full games. Just the NFL Films stuff. NFL Network airs a regular season game from 1996-present everyday. They compress a 3 1/2 hour game into 2 hours by gutting most of the time between snaps and the halftime but it still pretty cool. For example, coming up at 3:00 eastern today, NFL Replay has the 10/15/2000 game between the Bills and the Chargers. Tomorrow its the Bears and Lions from 10/04/1998. Random games but thats usually how it is.

I remember when the 92 games were offered on PPV LIVE from Barcelona Spain which is roughly the same time ahead as Athens is. (The events would start at 3 or 4 am on the PPV and most of that wouldn't get shown for free until way later in the day on tape delay). As for the stations this year: LOCAL NBC STATION The NBC network schedule is divided into three dayparts: afternoon, primetime and late night -- for a total of 226 hours of coverage over 17 days beginning with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, Aug. 13, at 8 p.m. ET. NBC's primetime coverage will include gymnastics, swimming, diving, and track and field. The first week of the Olympics features gymnastics and swimming, two sports in which the USA is especially strong this year. The USA's women's gymnastics team is the reigning world champion and favorite for a team gold medal and the USA men's gymnastics team is led by Paul Hamm, the reigning all-around world champion. In swimming, the USA is as strong as ever. Michael Phelps, the 19-year-old phenom, is looking for a record gold medal haul and Natalie Coughlin is the world record holder in the 100m backstroke and a multi-medal threat. NBC-HI DEF 24 hours a day For the first time by a U.S. broadcaster at a Summer Olympics, NBC will provide high definition coverage. NBC's separate, unique HDTV coverage on NBC's digital affiliates, presented by Sony Electronics Inc., will provide HDTV coverage on delay of six sports from the only main Olympic venues provided in high definition by the Olympic host broadcaster. Those sports include swimming, diving, gymnastics, track and field, medal rounds of basketball and the men's soccer gold medal final. The HDTV coverage will total 399 hours and is a completely different production from the standard definition broadcast on the network. NBC has 124 HDTV affiliates with the potential to cover 86 percent of the country. MSNBC 2 am-7 am, 10 am-4 pm MSNBC, available in 82 million households, will carry a total of 133.5 hours over 18 days. MSNBC will be the main provider of live, weekday, long-form coverage of a full range of Olympic sports, including softball, soccer, beach volleyball, wrestling, canoeing, basketball, rowing, and weightlifting. On weekends, MSNBC will cover boxing, while CNBC carries live coverage of a wide range of Olympic sports. On each of the two days prior to the Opening Ceremony, Wednesday, Aug. 11 and Thursday, Aug. 12, MSNBC also will provide coverage of the opening soccer matches, including the USA women vs. Greece. CNBC 5-8 pm CNBC, available in 86 million households, will carry 111 hours of Olympic programming over 16 days, beginning Saturday, Aug. 14. On weekdays following "Closing Bell," CNBC will feature long-form coverage of Olympic boxing from 5-8 p.m. ET. On weekends, CNBC will have expanded, live, long-form coverage of a wide variety of Olympic sports including beach volleyball, soccer and taekwondo while MSNBC covers boxing. BRAVO 5 am-Noon, 5-8 pm, Midnight-1 am Bravo, available in 76 million households, will carry a total of 122 hours of Olympic coverage over 14 days, also beginning Saturday, Aug. 14. Bravo will feature a wide range of sports including tennis, equestrian, sailing, track cycling, archery, badminton, judo, synchronized swimming, handball and table tennis. USA NETWORK7-10 am USA Network, available in 88 million homes and billed as the cable home of the U.S. Olympic Team since it began airing regular U.S. Olympic Trials coverage in May, will continue with that theme during the Games with live coverage of many of the USA women's and men's basketball games. USA's 49 hours of Olympic coverage from Athens covers 14 days beginning at 8 a.m. ET on Sunday, Aug. 15 with live start-to-finish coverage of the women's cycling road race through the streets of Athens -- an event that has traditionally aired on NBC in primetime. In addition, USA will provide live, all day, Grand Slam-style coverage of all the tennis gold medal finals (men's and women's singles and doubles) on the middle weekend of the Games, Aug. 21-22. TELEMUNDO 1-8 pm Telemundo, which reaches 91 percent of U.S. Hispanic viewers in 118 markets, will provide 169.5 hours of Olympic coverage over 18 days. This marks the first time in U.S. television history that the Olympic Games have exclusive coverage in any language other than English. Telemundo will feature soccer, boxing and semifinal and gold medal final of baseball. Telemundo, in addition to MSNBC, will provide coverage of opening soccer matches on Wednesday, Aug. 11, and Thursday, Aug. 12

I got more of a "let the speeders speed so they'll kill themselves in an accident and we'll have fresh organs" message out of it instead of "This person is special because they're an organ donor". Maybe that wasn't the intended message, I don't know..

Army to Call Up Retired, Discharged Troops
MarvinisaLunatic replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
I would love to see something that supports the statement on page 2 that the military is "turning away volunteers in droves" because I find that hard to believe. -
$1.8x depending where you go here, and it was up to as high as $1.97 a couple weeks ago so theres been some drop. The fact that gas prices have gone down somewhat has shut must people up around here on the subject.

Sidney Ponson is on his way to loss #8 in a row although this was probably his best pitched game in that streak. It is only 4-3 vs the Royals bullpen so maybe he can sneak out of it with a ND..

RudoCurry Industries Present: A Flair for the Cade
MarvinisaLunatic replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in The WWE Folder
I have a hard time believing the H.B.Cade thing, but its a lot better than what I thought when I saw Test rubbing Cade's shoulders and slapping him on the ass not once, not twice but 3 times before the match on Sunday. I'll take a gimmick impersonation over another gay tag team any day of the week, although the last gimmick impersonation that I can remember, funny as it was for about 2 weeks, was really stupid (Kanyon impersonating DDP with the book and even the wig). -
Even though they build Eddie as lying, cheating, and stealing. And there's already been numerous death angles, most involving Undertaker, not to mention the whole Katie Vick thing with Kane. WWE is strait up lying to parents, but I suppose JBL could justify it because it's entertainment, right? Jindrak/Cade stole HHH's bounty money in the suitcase.

Man, even the difference in House Show cards is amazing. Sundays RAW show here was a good preview of the Vengence Card (HHH/Benoit,Edge/Orton,Jericho/Batista,Kane/Hardy, Victoria/Trish) and I see that Roanoke card and it reminds me how horrible the Smackdown show that was here 2 years ago was. The biggest stars were Angle (Wrestled before the intermission vs Rikishi) and Jericho (wrestled Edge in the ME). Everyone else was midcard or below, including appearances by Rob Conway, Nick Dinsmore, Randy Orton and Batista all before they really had even been on TV. We did get to see Rey Mysterio wrestle before his debut but it was in a crappy 6 man tag that no one cared about save to see him in the ring.

I want a Red Sox fans analysis: When Boston's Ramiro Mendoza finally shows he's healthy, he could be on the move to Baltimore. - The Boston Globe (6/28) I don't know if I'd mind the trade if the Orioles could get rid of Groom but the Red Sox would probably want more than that in return...

Poor Rob. Nothing like a 4 game series vs the Royals to improve the morale of an O's fan somewhat, although Ponson pitches tomorrow so theres no hope of a 4 game sweep, 3-1 will suffice quite nicely. And Im becoming a huge David Newhan fan..if he keeps up the hot hitting while Mora is out hurt, they should put Mora back in the OF and Newhan should remain the regular 3B.

Should WWE Break Out A Live SmackDown! This Week?
MarvinisaLunatic replied to AnonymousBroccoli's topic in The WWE Folder
Well if they move it to live then I wont be able to watch it, which might be a good thing since I sit up til 2-3 am watching it and it kills me on thursdays because I dont get much sleep. And I can't tape it because I don't have a VCR hooked up to that satellite box anymore since my main VCR doesn't work anymore. -
Vince McMahon not backstage at the PPV
MarvinisaLunatic replied to Kurt Angle Mark's topic in The WWE Folder
I've never been to an afternoon event. I thought they were all at night? I was at the show yesterday (I was wondering how HHH made it to Norfolk with the show ending around 5). The one thing I hated was that Lita, Bischoff and Benoit all said "Tonight" when they talked on the mic instead of "this afternoon" so I guess they aren't very used to afternoon shows. -
From MSNBC: So do they let Saddam go or violate international law?

Coke to try and relaunch failed "Desani"
MarvinisaLunatic replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
I drink bottled water because my water (from an old well) is so heavily treated to remove crap like rust and other minerals that even though the water is clear and smells ok, it has a heavy chemical taste that no filter I've bought can get rid of. I was told that a $2,000 reverse osmosis filtration system (that needs a $500 professional install on top of the 2 grand) would do that (not to mention the money I have to contiue to shell out to make the water usable). I think I'll keep buying bottled water whenever its on sale for $3-5 a case (I usually get Deer Park or Poland Spring) -
Kane: lets abort this..uh..angle..
-
LITA SHOULD NEVER HOLD THE TITLE EVER!
-
Kane gets the you tapped out chants now.. and here comes a smiling Lita.. HEEL TURN
-
Benoit forgot! aww..
-
JR telling Lawler to shut up was hillarious. and I cant imagine Kane going to a PTA meeting.. Kane - "Why did Kane Jr get an F in Chemistry.." Teacher - "He can't even light a bunson burner and its March, something he should have learned on day 1" Kane - "I'll show you lighting a bunson burner.." Kane lights the teacher on fire with his special fire powers..
-
But I guess every heel in the back can come out and beat the hell out of Benoit since he can't win by DQ? Let the heel parade start..
