So, after John Kasay kicked the ball Out of Bounds (OB) last night with 1:08 to go in the game, essentially giving the Patriots the Super Bowl, a lot of people are complaining about this rule. The point was brought up that the rule used to be a 5 yard penalty on the kicking team and a rekick but was changed some time ago to this ball to the 40 automatically. Some people think its unfair that if the ball goes out of bounds at say the 1 yard line (if you remember the Dallas/Giants game earlier in the season) that the ball to the 40 is essentially a 39 yard penalty that is more than any other regular penalty (not including pass intereference calls). You could put a late hit on the quarterback and its only a 15 yard penalty and yet the kickoff going out of bounds could be as much as a 39 yard penalty. Also, the return team can sometimes just let the ball roll out of bounds, and what would have been a perfectly returnable ball becomes a penalty. Other people think that if the kicker shanks a kick so bad that it goes out of bounds, the team deserves the penalty since the other team had little or no chance to return the ball. It was also suggested that they should keep the rule, but just move the spot of the ball back to the 25 or 30 yard line, since re-kicking would take a lot of time (the NFL has done away with the re-kick on onside kicks not going 10 yards as well, probably just to speed up the game). I listen to Sports Talk too much. This obviously wouldn't have been as big of a deal if it hadn't been such a huge factor in the outcome of the Super Bowl, but I do think the rule needs to be either changed back or altered. I'd probably choose the old 5 yard penalty on the kicking team and a rekick, although I doubt the NFL will go back to rekicking.

Man, I saw somewhere that a cricket player got his foot swallowed up in a hole that opened up on the field and exposed his leg to a hot water spring that was underneath the playing surface. You don't see that every day.. And I used to love sitting up late at night and watching Australian Rules Football. As far as my hated leagues, any womens sport (boring), Boxing in general (fixed for the most part) and indoor versions of outdoor sports (arena football, indoor lax, indoor soccer). Im also tired of all the niche sports coverage on ESPN when they have nothing else to show (X Games, Bus racing, lumbersports, dog competitions, scrabble/board games/poker, etc.). I also don't like watching bowling on TV but I do like bowling myself occasionally. I can tolerate golf on TV if its a major, I don't watch tennis but its not that offending, I usually try to watch World Cup Soccer matches if I can although I don't really do MLS, and all the other major sports I enjoy watching.

I would have bought the DVD if they included the PPV thing where Bischoff called out Vince to a fight and had Vince counted out and himself declared the winner of the match. Of course, you know that would never make it on a WWE released DVD.

Supposedly some poll thats done on the Commercials has dubbed the NFL Network commercial that I liked so much the best commercial durring the Super Bowl. I don't know whether its the big USA Today poll that usually comes out or not.

I haven't been able to find any great deals yet. Closest I came was a Plam Zire 71 for $20, but the bidder who bid $20 probably put a high max bid on it because I bid up to about $50 and I kept getting outbid. I thought about trying to go to $100 but I really don't have a $100 to spend right now.

FCCs definition of Nudity: “nudity:” the “showing of the human male or female genitals, pubic area or buttocks with less then a full opaque covering, or the showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering of any portion thereof below the top of the nipple, or the depiction of covered male genitals in a discernibly turgid state.” so..you make the call.. and with that, Im giving up on the issue. we'll see what happens.. -

I imagine that would be considered obscene, and obscenity can't be aired at any time on broadcast television. Theres a difference between obscene and indecent, although Im having a hard time figuring just what the difference is. -

from the FCC's site: The key is that it aired before 10:00 (I know it was like 9:00 but that still counts, not to mention the large audience the Super Bowl gets). -

Calling the police is a bit extreme. They need to be calling the FCC, as they specifically take phone calls on such issues. -
Well, thats never going to happen. The corporate type people who spend the big bucks on the prime seats for the Super Bowl will never sit in a blizzard to watch the game. And honestly, its pretty nice to not have to worry about weather being a factor in the game, although I know everyone will say "WEATHER IS FOOTBALL!". As far as this being as close to a OT game as we will ever have, it wasn't. That would have been 2 years ago when the game was won with a tie breaking FG with no time on the clock. There was still :04 this time.

I like being in 1st place I need to stay at 7-1 though so could ya please bench Jalen for me? nah.. Jalen managed to score enough points to make it a 6-2 loss instead of 7-1.
