So 4 player Red Steel turned out to be way more fun than I expected based on the reviews. Me and my friends just couldn't stop playing tonight. Not the greatest controls, but better aiming than an analog stick in my opinion. And when you're relatively close too another player you do a motion with the nunchuck to charge them and knock them out which is insanely fun.

22 million in 5 days is fine, especially for Rocky Balboa. This is a movie that everyone thought would be a Gigli level bomb when it was announced. Plus the movie was actually really good.

sweet. posting this from my wii. now back to 5 player bomberman 93.

In September they released King's Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry collections for $20 each that can run on Windows XP (they use Dos Box). WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED OF THIS???? (although a cursory Google search would have easily turned it up. It did turn up a good article about the 20th anniversary of Space Quest). I need to buy those now.

That can't be real. Pretending it is, if it was Sierra and Al Lowe I'd pre-order it right now. But the Vivendi Leisure Suit Larry was pretty terrible. What I'd like is a collection of the original Larry games (At least 1,5,6, and 7. 2 and 3 I dunno because of the lack of point and click) ported to the Wii, and maybe King's Quest and Space Quest too. The Wii pointer would be perfect for playing old point and click games like that. It's BBspot, of course it's not real. However, "the Wiimote will be placed into a strap-on harness for a whole new angle on the game." is pretty funny. And man, I'd kill for a collection of old Sierra Quest games, I don't even think you can get a collection for PC that will run on a modern OS. So Nintendo's putting out some of the big guns for the Christmas VC releases. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6163549.html?...estnews;title;2 I'm so there for Toejam & Earl and Castlevania. But weren't there better versions of Street Fighter II available for SNES?

No doubt, I've had mine for a month now but I haven't touched it for the last week. All is well though, I sat down for a good 4 hours of Zelda today after my last exam.

Hopefully, it's only for that game. Or, just the more kiddyish games. At least it's understandable there. I believe that's only for that game (or other specific games where the developers decide to be stupid), as mentioned before Elebits doesn't require its own friend list to exchange custom stuff. And remember, the DS has the friend code system but you can still play against randoms in games like Mario Kart.

This is probably just as much bullshit as the whole force feedback patent lawsuits from a few years back. The US patent system is so monumentally fucked up. Any time any new technology starts to sell, all these companies with obscure and very broad 'concept patents' come out of the woodwork looking for a settlement. They're never actually looking to block the use of the technology, just a nice juicy settlement so they'll go away. Look at stuff like the SCO/Linux and RIM Blackberry fiascos and things like Amazon.com patenting 'One Click Shopping.' I mean seriously, "OH SHITS, they put a trigger on a pointing device~! SUE SUE."

From what I've seen, all the Wii FPS' are using the 'bounding box' reticle where the screen is fixed, you aim the reticle, and when you move it to the side of the screen (or bounding box) the screen moves. I don't get why they don't just go with the regular FPS mode of aiming (like in all PC shooters) where the reticle is fixed at the center of the screen and you 'aim the screen around.' It seems like the Wii-mote/nunchuk is the best way to emulate the keyboard/mouse setup so I don't get why no-one has gone that route yet.

Really? There's still people lining up for a Wii more than 2 weeks after launch? Does that usually happen with console launches?

"The Kids" don't like Nickleback, Nickleback sells so damn many cds because they have the "crappy inoffensive modern rock" and "adult contemporary" crowds. And the "nu metal crowd" equals shit in sales these days, this isn't 1999 anymore. I still stand by the fact that since the GnR greatest hits album went quadruple platinum despite being clearly thrown together and a cheap cash in that this new album will sell well.

If people want graphics I don't get why they don't go with PC gaming. There's far far more technical innovation that goes on in PC games then the very best of the console games. Way better displays and incremental upgrades to hardware, firmware (DirectX), and software (video drivers) ensure that the graphics will always be ahead of the consoles. Same goes for the other stuff like AI, sound, and physics. And in terms of gameplay and quality of games, no contest. Games like Halo, Gears of War, and Resistance all pale in comparison to even the low end of good PC shooters. And it's the same across all the genres (other than fighting, and some will argue for RPGs but I think you can get a better PC RPG). Console games are insanely dumbed down and mainstream focused compared to PC counterparts. Now, while the Sony and Microsoft are in this technical arms race (where they will invariably get smoked by the PC) Nintendo is pushing the way you actually play the console in a new direction.

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread

So what's the deal with the Gorons and the hot springwater? I paid the 1000 rupees to repair the bridge and the guy who was sitting there now wants some hot springwater, same with the guy hanging around the rock wall at the south entrance to Castle Town. How do you get the springwater there fast enough so it doesn't get cold. I went to Death Mountain, bottled some, warped to the closest possible spot and ran but it still took too long. Also, I just got to the desert (kind of weird how it's RIGHT on the edge of Lake Hylia) and I only have 2 bottles, have I missed any? Oh yeah, and what's the deal with those owl statues scattered all over the place? -
Oh come on Eric. Square? Namco maybe should go multiplatform, but why would Square want to transition franchises that are hugely popular in Japan over to a system that doesn't sell in Japan? Because The Elder Scrolls games have sold so much better than Final Fantasy? And this righteous indignation about everything Sony does is starting to get a little ridiculous. They, like Nintendo and Microsoft, are a for-profit corporation that's going to do whatever they think is necessary to make a profit. What's good for the gamers is the last thing on any of these company's minds, unless what's good for the gamers also happens to be profitable. It's not like Microsoft and Nintendo have a distinguished history of doing good for the little guys either. Especially Microsoft. I mean, people are bashing Sony for not doing good by the consumer and then supporting *Microsoft*. Uh, right. Oh not me. Microsoft is much much worse than Sony in terms of shitty business practice.
-
Agreed. Some people are acting like Sony personally slighted them. If you don't like their products just don't buy them. But cheering for their failure is kind of silly. Sony DID personally slight people by putting a fucking unstable rootkit on their CDs among a whole bunch of other fuck-over-the-consumer-in-the-name-of-copyright-protection examples over the last decade. This company choking on their attempt to push through yet another proprietary media format and crashing down in flames would be glorious. Nintendo at least made a gaming system, Sony's selling you an attempt to take over your living room.
-
Well it looks like Nintendo managed to get 400,000 supplied in Japan and they all sold out.

When The Levees Broke: A Requiem In Four Acts
ZGangsta replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Television & Film
It's funny or not so funny, that a lot of us have heard that song hundreds of times before Katrina, and then post-Katrina if you sit down and just listen to the lyrics...your just like "oh......fuck" Oh, it's nothing that harrowing. "If the levee breaks, got no place to stay." I'm sure that's been a recurring sentiment along the Mississippi River for some time now. It's not as if Robert Plant-via-Kansas Joe McCoy said "if a hurricane hits New Orleans and floods the city with raw sewage, not only will we lose our homes, but the municipal, state, and federal government will fail to provide prompt and effective public assistance due to bureaucratic inertia and this will act as a catalyst for another wave of American racial tension." Now that'd be some real holy-shit songwriting. Now if you want to talk about black humor through popular music, "Walking on Sunshine" does the job. I always took the Hurricane Katrina 'theme song trilogy' to be When the Levee Breaks, Walking on Sunshine, and the Tragically Hip's New Orleans is Sinking ("New Orleans is sinking man and I don't wanna swim"). -
I think this argument that "well teh ROMZ are free~!!" is stupid because as pointed out ROMS ARE ILLEGAL (not that I have a problem with using them) and the mainstream consumer will not download an emulator. I don't like the pricing, but if they start adding online multiplayer to classic games I am so there.

I think this is the best anyone has done with this situation so far.

The OAO Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess Thread
ZGangsta replied to AndrewTS's topic in Video Games
I hope not, there are a million places to dig up. But wasn't there a map to the treasures that were heart pieces in Wind Waker? Or clues of some sort? And I've only found 4 pieces so far and I just got all the tears of light in Lake Hylia/Zora River, am I missing many? -
I lined up at our Wal-Mart at 1:15 this morning and was 26th in line out of 54 Wiis. It was funny because there were morons lined up at Future Shop a couple blocks away for much longer and there were more of them then Future Shop had supplies. We lined up overnight and Wal-Mart people handed out numbered tickets at 7AM for the 9:00 opening, then sold systems and games to us in order of ticket. It was really well organized and went off perfectly. I got the unit, extra controller (+ nunchuck), Zelda, and Monkey Ball for $523 Canadian. They ran out of copies of Zelda shortly after me. Some people checked down the line and every single person (bar none) was planning on getting Zelda with their system.

I don't get why anyone would pay 2000 on ebay for a fucking Playstation when you could get a gaming PC for that much (or cheaper) that will smoke the PS3 in terms of power, game quality, and game library; AND will be upgradable. Idiots.

Holy shit this show has become terrible lately. Thought the Oreo cookie bit was cool though.
