  1. Like the homophobes who scream loudest about hating gay people are probably incredibly attracted to members of their own sex. So how much do you want to wager that Ann Coulter is actually a lesbian?
  2. They'll probably just fold the powers of the Attorney General into Dick Cheney's office.
  3. You gotta wonder how much all these guys hate themselves on the inside. There's no way you can be so hypocritical and feel good about yourself. Mark Foley pushed for better laws against soliciting underagers online while doing it himself. Ted Haggard evangelized against gay rights and for moral values then stole away every so often to score meth from and have sex with a male prostitute. Vitter was a giant 'family values' pusher who enjoyed the call girls. Craig was an anti gay rights crusader while clearly being gay himself. I mean, there's got to be a huge amount of self-loathing going on to be so vocal against all these things while partaking in them yourself. And in the case of the gay ones, it's not like they were just closet gay and keeping it undercover for their political/religious career (like I'm sure there are plenty of politicians doing). It's the soliciting underage online/doing meth with male hooker/cruising bathrooms for annonymous sex stuff that they're into I'm giving 2:1 odds on a sex tape between W and Karl Rove to be the next thing to come out. Don't try and tell me there was nothing going on between those two...
  4. Yeah 40 bucks (or 60 retail) for 5 maps is an insane ripoff in my opinion. Especially since I got Battlefield 2142 for that much when it came out and it has a shit-ton more content.
  5. A new video card will only improve the frame rate if the CPU or amount of RAM or something else isn't the bottleneck there. I can never think of a situation where spending money on a sound card is worth it to improve frame rates though. That money can be better put to a ton of other things.
  6. IGN review hot off the press. Looks damn good.
  7. Well met on those 'dating' responses Smues. So Far Cry 2 looks like it might be absolutely amazing!

    Bioshock

I'm building a new PC and I'm having a dual boot (XP and Vista64) so right there I'd be out of "credits" and unable to put it on a laptop or my computer at the office or any second PC. And also one hardware failure or major OS crash or a reformat without uninstalling would make me unable to play the game I'd be paying for. Can they not see how ridiculous that is? And of course the game is going to be free with a crack off your friendly neighborhood bittorrent site anyways. Without fail. Someone else on their forums rebutted her post quite well too. we get that. What we're really annoyed about is the lifetime 2 activation limit. I'd like to be crystal clear on this - if we uninstall the game on one PC, we get one 'install credit' to install it once more on a fresh install? It's 2 simultaneous installs total, but uninstalling from one PC will allow us to reinstall on a new one, or a fresh install of windows? Twice is NOT a lot of installs. Not even close. What about those poor sods that have hard-drive crashes? or have already wiped the windows install that had it installed? What if the internet connection to securerom fails when uninstalling, it's not exactly been super stable or available for installing! Plus, securerom are redirecting people to 2K once they go past their 2 activations, not giving them an additional chance to reinstall. http://forums.2kgames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6037 Even steam is affected As long as you don't need to reinstall windows, right? Or people that have hardware crashes. Or people that didn't know they had to check in with the securerom system first before they can reinstall their computer. Or people who don't have an internet connection at time of uninstall. Sorry, but this simply isn't good enough. PC gamers reinstall windows. A lot. Often because windows doesn't cope at all well with new hardware. That people are encountering this on DAY ONE does not bode well for a lifetime of having to remember to check in and uninstall 'properly' first. You are *selling* a product. Doctrine of first sale. It's my property, not yours once you've sold it to me. Adding additional restrictions such as 'only install twice' above and beyond copyright law after the contract of sale is completed is not legal. Seriously - this is grounds for a lawsuit. If my copy hadn't already shipped, I'd be cancelling it. I will certainly be returning it for a refund if 2K continue to call this a non-issue, because you're flat out wrong on that. Right on. This is exactly the type of shit where I vote with my wallet. Anything like Bioshock that needs you to use SecuROM (a Sony technology btw) isn't getting a dime from me. That seems to be the vast majority of opinions I've seen around the net this morning too when people hear this news. It's amazing how 2K has gone from amazing hype and goodwill to a shitstorm of hate overnight with this.

K, now I don't want to buy this game on principle.

That's what I loved about Deus Ex so much. The multiple paths to get stuff done could really absorb you into the character you were building. Take the hostage rescue mission in the New York subway (I believe). I mean you could find the air vents leading down and pick through all the locks and then use stealth to sneak past the bad guys and their security silently taking them our. Or you could hack the cameras and security network to remotely take them down. Or you could run the fuck down the ramp guns blazing. And within each way you decided to go there were all sorts of other choices like whether you're going to go with melee/guns/explosives/non-lethal. And the best part is that you weren't hit in the face with a 'choose your path' (like a dialog coming up saying Stealth/Hack/Assault? or anything). The choices just became clear based on how you allocated your stats and equipment, and envisioned your character. .....damn, one thing this thread has convinced me is that I really really really need to play through Deus Ex again. I think the 2 Half-Life games and their expansions accomplish both of these really well. They've got an engaging story that's told through gameplay and not laborious exposition, plus some of the greatest action set pieces you can imagine.
  11. Definitely Led Zeppelin, Houses of the Holy era. When they were the biggest band in the world on one of their treks around America playing 3 hour shows to stadiums of 90,000 people. That would be amazing. I'd also settle for Guns N' Roses in some seedy bar or club on the Strip right before they made it big.
  12. Yeah, I think the general consensus these days is that The Wire never being nominated for anything completely invalidates this stupid contest.
  13. Love the look for the Joker, this movie is going to rock. I like this evolution of the Batman suit too, it works for this world. The only thing I'm not fond of is the symbol on the chest seems too hidden.
  14. Yeah Bob, you're not trashing V for Vendetta are you? That was an amazing film.

    Bioshock

Yeah, the game clearly compares more to Deus Ex than Half-Life but by 'next Half-Life' I meant being universally lauded by the critics and perceived as the next great thing. Deus Ex got really good reviews but not quite the same level, and it definately wasn't as popular as Half-Life. Which is a shame cause DX was one fucking amazing game. It's too bad they dumbed down the sequel so much.

Damn! IGN just gave the PC version a 9.7! Is this game the next Half-Life? (Well for single player)

    Bioshock

I'm building my new desktop PC over the next week and this is the first new game I'm going to get. If it's anywhere near as good as System Shock 2 I'll be stoked.

    Wii

There's some talk of the new Metal of Honor Wii game on IGN. While the interview seems like a bunch of PR speak it did communicate a few ideas that I thought were pretty cool. I like that it has an on rails game designed for the zapper along side the regular fps game. Plus 32 player online on the Wii is a good sign. I don't know, all the fps games so far haven't lived up to potential (though Metroid's going to give the genre a major kick in the ass), could this one be alright?
  19. God I fucking hate the Chinese government. As an aside though, maybe the Dalai Lama will be reborn as Keanu Reeves.
  20. Jesus, if they're going to bring back Cap then Alex Ross doing work for Marvel again is one HELL of a way to do it
  21. Yeah, I'm really hoping that Eddie comes to his senses and gets Michael Anthony back. Personally, if I were EVH I wouldn't let my teenage son be able to be influenced by David Lee Roth while out on a Van Halen tour... I'm gonna get tickets for the Vancouver show I think. I hope in the time before that show that Roth doesn't act like enough of a dumbass to get kicked out and Eddie stays sober.
  22. Read the rest here: http://ca.music.yahoo.com/read/news/25166775 Didn't 50 Cent already release a single or 2 from his upcoming album that have gotten no interest and gone nowhere and that's why they kept pushing back the release date?
  23. Yeah, there's no way to separate the different parts of songs like that unless you have access to master tracks. But for editing software, Audacity is a good (free) place to start.
  24. Gah no! A big wag of the finger to people still buying Wolverine: Origins.
  25. GnR are a fairly reliable act recently. True, since Axl's resurgence last year they've been rock solid apparently. Van Halen and all involved need to bite the bullet and just do a tour with both David Lee Roth and Sammy Haggar. I didn't go to the tour with Haggar a couple years ago but I might try and catch this one if it comes to a city near me since EVH is sober and less sketchy these days (though I'm not sure if that makes him a better player). It's still wierd that his teenage son is playing bass, though that was a pre-rehab choice so maybe it'll change.
