Seriously though, I've built all my past computers from components and it's something you really have to be into doing cause it can get fucking frustrating.

Anyone have the Absolute edition of Watchmen? It's oversized and 'higher res' and it has a bunch more special features. Looks pretty sweet. It's on sale at amazon right now and I'm thinkg of picking it up but Absolute Kingdom Come is calling to me more.

Well the highest resolution is insane and you'd need a pretty huge monitor for it to be useful, but I'm pretty sure I've seen benchmarks taking it to the max at acceptable framerates. Granted they were using 2 Geforce 8800GTXs SLI'd together but it can be done. I can play Crysis maxed (DX10) out at 1280x1024 at pretty decent framerates. I support this PC gaming thread and will post more here when I have time.

Eidos is making a 3rd Deus Ex game. Now I'm assuming that this will be coming out for the consoles as well as the PC. Deus Ex 2 was epic failed by severely retarding it down for the XBox and ruining the awesome concepts that made the first game so amazing, but since that happened we've seen cross-platform stuff like Bioshock and Orange Box (though that was pretty much a straight port from the PC) be hugely successful so I have faith for this. Good to hear that they're going to give it some serious development time too. Any chance of getting Warren Spector back for this? Please?

Not exactly. 20 GB and 60 GB have hardware BC. 80 GB has software BC, so it works with a limited number of titles, and is not expected to recieve many updates. Hahaha stupid Microsoft, releasing so many different versions of the XBox. It just confuses the customer. Sony was so right to trash them for that......wait a minute... Jesus, 15 movies. That's a pretty sweet deal, although are there good BR movies out for under $30? Up here in Canada I don't see many Blu-Ray/HDDVD titles for under $35. But then we are getting fucked on DVD prices despite the 1:1 dollar exchange rate.

Hey if they can budget the Ocean's movies they can budget this one...of course, I would imagine production costs being twice as expensive for JLA, but they could figure something out. The only big names they'd really need are Bale and Routh anyway...and it's not like Routh has any clout asking for a big time paycheck. They just need a big name for the villian role and then they can fill the rest of the JLA roster with lesser-knowns. I'm pretty sure all the Ocean's stars did all the movies for pennies (relatively) cause they liked the concept of working together or liked Soderbergh. So apparently the strike will sink this movie in its current form so hopefully this will give the right people some time to step back and take a look and discover that this is a terrible idea.

Also, can I just ask what the problem with Hal Jordan is? I mean, I get that they 'need' a black superhero and DC comics is pretty sorely lacking, but every time GL appears outside the comics it's John Stewart. Poor Hal don't get no love. There's rumours that Sam Jackson is making an appearance as Nick Fury in both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk, so there may be an Avengers/Ultimates movie coming down the line. And that's totally the right way to do it too. Lay the seeds in the individual franchises and then do a team up movie later. Granted this will be a whole lot more expensive since you'd have to pay for the stars of each franchise, but who wants to see a bunch of scrubs playing the top superheroes anyways (like this JLA movie).

I can't believe what a terrible idea making this movie is. They've got the Superman and Batman franchises back on track and now they're going to throw out other versions of the characters. And the fucked up thing is that it would have been even worse if Bale and Routh were in this. Also, I'm so glad they're going with a 'young and hip' cast since that always works out so well. The CGI movie idea would have completely saved this and might have made it pretty cool since you'd be able to see some pretty sweet action if 'Beowulf' is any indication. You can see this trainwreck coming from a mile away.

Has anyone here played Crysis? The full version comes out tomorrow but the demo has been out for a while and it is amazing. I've got a quad core CPU, a GeForce 8800GT and 4Gb of RAM running on Vista64 (so directX 10) and Ultra High settings on this game take my hardware setup to school (though it'll probably be more optimized for the full version). But Holy Shit, are the graphics and physics fucking incredible. The gameplay keeps up too and sort of brings me back to Deus Ex (minus the RPG elements) in that there's so many completly different ways to go at your objectives. Plus the weapon customization It got a 9.4 from IGN and Gamespot gave it a 9.5. I'd definately recommend at least checking out the demo. PS: being able to punch down buildings may be the best gameplay innovation in an FPS in years.

That episode was amazing. I think it's getting some hate since there weren't many huge laugh out loud moments and it was probably the 'cleanest' South Park they've done, but I thought the whole story arc was brilliant (if predictable).

Anyone know if the DS version of this game is going to be any good?

IGN says that the Wii-mote/Nunchuck mode in Medal of Honor Heroes 2 has the best console FPS controls ever. Oh and I'd also almost consider paying full price for a rerelease of No Mercy.

I think Ike gets props more for being 'Supreme Commander of the Allied forces in Europe' Eisenhower than President Eisenhower. He also got lots of criticism for not paying much attention to civil rights. But when he did get into that, it was pretty big stuff. Like supporting Brown v. Board of Education and sending the 101st Airborne to Little Rock during that whole deal. Reagan had voodoo economics fucking up the debt and contra. So right there I wouldn't say he was a good president. Plus the AIDS stuff. And yes, he doesn't deserve a fraction of the credit he gets for the Cold War. Personally I think Reagan is worshiped way WAY too much by today's conservatives, but also demonized too much by others. W Bush is easily the worst post WWII president though. The deficits, completely dividing the country, insane corruption (though that's seemed to be pretty symptomatic of the people at the top of the Republican party) and abuse of executive power. Oh yeah, and Iraq. However, if the Middle East miraculously stabalizes in the next couple decades though, he'll probably get turned into a hero by some. Even though it will have nothing to do with him.

Battlestar Galactica will probably just air what is done and take a really long break between halves of the season since Sci-Fi was floating that idea already. So if The Shield has finished scripts does that mean they'll finish filming them and then air them as scheduled, or do they need writers around to finish filming? Sucks that the Rock's SNL is not going to happen.
