  1. I think that's a pretty big overstatement. Good point about Austin Powers though. But as for the ticket presales, I remember hearing about Superman Returns having ticket presales that were "pretty much gauranteed" to make it take in as much as the Spiderman movies. I think this movie is going to kick all kinds of ass and will make huge money, just not Pirates of the Caribean level.
  2. No SpideMan 3 had some pretty bad buzz right before the movie opened, early reviews weren't so hot. Plus I remember a lot of misgivings people had about him trying to cram too much into the film (which turned out to be the case). I think The Dark Knight is overhyped so far though. I definitly think it will be a great film and be very successfull but I don't think it's going to be breaking any records for opening weekend or anything. Remember, it's a sequel to Batman Begins and that movie did 200 million at the box office, so it's not like this one is going to make the whole gross of Batman Begins in 1 week or anything. Could be wrong though, the reviews so far make it out to be a phenomenal film and there is all that news about presale sell outs.
  3. Fuck Vancouver is so boned. Right now they're essentially the same team as last year (which already lacked scoring power) MINUS Naslund, Morrison, and Linden. Apparently Demitra is a sure thing, so I guess they can overpay him for his 15 goals or whatever.
  4. This one is a classic, we made my buddy's girlfriend pretty much start to cry with this. Fail.
  5. I'm really worried about my Canucks now, not that I wanted them to resign Naslund at all (unless they could get him for really cheap and get someone else to be captain), but the fact that they don't even have him to fall back on if they don't get some offensive power is not good. It looks like the only attempt they've made is this crazy grab at Sundin and if that falls through then they are fucked for offence. It's crazy, the new GM came in saying "I know we're hurting in the scoring department but we're going to do anything it takes to fix that." and now they're looking worse than before.
  6. Wall-E was right where I thought it would be, but Wanted at 50 mil just blew me away.

    Wall-E

That's the only time I've ever seen a trailer boo'd by the whole audience. And Wall-E was amazing, might be the best movie I've seen this year.

    Wall-E

I'm seeing it tonight. The reviews I've read so far have been insanly glowing, I've seen "best Disney movie ever" tossed around a bit (which has got to be crazy hyperbole, but still). The quality of the CGI looks jaw dropping from the previews. And yeah, Pixar's track record (both critically and financially) is unbelievable.
  9. Well if the plan is to do an Avengers movie, and Tobey isn't down for anymore movies, then they need to. To go ahead and establish someone else as the character. Otherwise it's just gonna be like this potential Justice League movie, where there are just a bunch of WhoTF guys playing the characters. (Although I admit, I'd enjoy Adam Brody as Flash) There's not going to be Spiderman in the Avengers movie, nor any of the X-Men. Marvel is doing the Avengers with their own (new) studio and the rights to Spiderman and X-Men movies are owned by Sony and Fox for now. The Avengers are going to be made up of heros for which Marvel did not sell movie rights off to a studio. So the Avengers will be composed of the 4 guys that are in Marvel Studios movies: Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, and Captain America. Which is good, because when you say 'Avengers' most people think of those 4. I'd bet that they'll throw Black Widow and maybe Hank Pym in there as well even though they won't have their own movies.
  10. Yeah undoubtably the shittiest part of SecurRom is that if the company takes down the authentication server (which will inevitably happen after a certain time) you can't play the game that you BOUGHT. It's a load of crap. On the bright side, they have removed the checks from Bioshock. So that's no longer an issue with that game. I'd hope that if a publisher was going to saddle a game with crap like SecurRom, at the very least they'd patch it away after a year (as happened with Bioshock), but then with Spore we're talking about EA here.
  11. I don't know, I'm pretty sure these are unfinished demos, so maybe all the real drum tracks haven't been mixed in on these versions.
  12. I always dug "The Blues" The final (maybe) version of "Chinese Democracy" is awesome, and yeah that intro is killer. Haven't heard this version of "Madagascar" yet, pretty good. I really like the string riff over the MLK speech part. I've seen a lot of praise for "Better" but I'm not a huge fan of it. First time I've heard "Rihad and the Bedouins" and I like it a lot. Not liking "If the World" though. Thanks for the upload. It's sounding pretty great.
  13. Apparently not.
  14. I'm really liking the fact that the lifeforms you run into on other planets (in the later phase of the game) will all be content that is pulled off the net that is automatically uploaded from other players. Apparently they have a system that will tell you how many times your created species has been encountered (by other players around the world) and the percentage of time it is enslaved/made friends with/wiped out, and other stuff like that. I saw an awesome description for Spore that described the different phases of gameplay: Phase 1: Pac-Man Phase 2: Diablo Phase 3: Populous Phase 4: Civilization Phase 5: Master of Orion I can't wait to play the full game.
  15. Saw it tonight, loved it. Not quite as great as Iron Man but still awesome. I like the Banner-on-the-run thing they had going on in this movie, especially with the references to the old TV show. Also, the Captain America build up was sweet. So was Downey showing up at the end.
  16. Yeah signs are pointing to Baltar again now. I'm guessing if it's not him then it's either some abstract concept or someone we haven't seen yet, or possibly someone who has died. And I'm pretty sure they're going with yes, this is Earth, and that we blew it up (YOU MANIACS) sometime in "our" near-ish future. I found this picture on the net. Brooklyn Bridge.
  17. Holy shit that was an intense episode. The standoffs and the scene with Tigh and Adama were crazy awesome. So was the scene with the Admiral and Lee where the old man was breaking down on the floor. Really great stuff. And yeah that was one hell of an ending. I was also totally feeling the Planet of the Apes vibe. Expected to see the Statue of Liberty. But there's still the question of are they in our past or our future? Yeah there's still a whole lot of questions left, that's for sure. The nature of the final five is the big one for me. Especially how can Col Tigh have been around for so long? I kinda hope they don't try to tackle the God/Gods question though since I think it would be out of the scope of a TV show to answer "So, is there a God?"
  18. The five disk blu ray is 14.95 from Amazon right now. Down from $40.
  19. I think this season has been way better than the 3rd. I've been super drawn in to the 9 episodes so far.
  20. Yeah that scene with between the two Six's on the Basestar was some really great acting. That was an awesome and intense episode, this season has rocked so far.
  21. Yeah you gotta take care to not do anything that would possibly make you feel better.
  22. I'm just glad they didn't make the same mistake as the Academy and overlook National Treasure 2.

    HDTV

Yeah my parents have a 32 inch HD CRT (720p) from a few years back.
  24. Good point here, I hadn't picked up on that yet but, thinking off all the images/graphics and clips that have come out so far, it's definately there.
  25. Absolutely wrong. I wish people would read up on how real gunfights work, and not take their assumptions from action movies. The only way you can really shoot out the tires of a moving vehicle is to be in another moving vehicle yourself. Remember how on Star Trek: The Next Generation, in order to transport from one starship to another while they were in warp drive, the transporting ship first had to pull up alongside and match the other ship's speed? Same basic thing here. Well done sir. Though I definately got a kick out of you simplifying a basic, Newtonian system (stationary, shooting a projectile into a moving object) into an example involving impossible physics like faster than light travel and transporting matter. And holy shit, 50 shots. How many police were there and what the hell kind of guns were they using?
