  1. "Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb." Ah, one of my favorite movie moments ever. http://youtube.com/watch?v=nRp45EmzCSk
  2. Really??
  3. When did Batman get involved with the Outsiders? I know there was that big Outsiders/Checkmate crossover but I never read any of it, what's happened since then?
  4. The Action Comics thing is such a crying shame. The Zod storyline was kicking so much ass and the book was so hyped and then to have so many delays and fill-ins. And now the final part of the arc's been scrapped and will finish in an Annual. It's because of Kubert not getting the art done apparently. And now Busiek's doing Countdown tie ins on Action as well as writing Superman Though coming up Johns and Donner are doing a Bizarro World arc with a new artist and then Johns is moving on to a storyline about Superman and the Legion that's spinning out of the JLA/JSA crossover so things might be looking up. Also looking forward to the Flash again (with Mark Waid too), and I'm loving Brave and the Bold. Fucked up crazy Silver Age-ish action there.
  5. Don't want to be overly negative, but I was pretty underwhelmed by the crossover and the whole series of Justice League so far. Meltzer's caption-box-narrative (which worked really well in IDC) got really out of hand and his pacing was pretty bad. The last stand-alone issue with a smaller amount of characters was really great though, so it's too bad he's off the book soon cause I think it had potential. Justice Society on the other hand, has been consistently awesome and looks like it's going to be huge soon with the Kingdom Come stuff. Countdown and everything related to it has blown so bad. Green Lantern and it's tie-ins is really the MVP of the DCU right now. The Sinestro Corps is blowing away Countdown. Morrison's Batman has been great when it comes out, and Dini's is solid too, though not earth-shattering And can I just say that the comics that I am most looking forward too are the new Booster Gold series. Booster visiting big DC events all over the timeline has huge humorous potential.
  6. Kinda soured on Marvel as of late. I was pretty into it at the end of Civil War (though I wasn't a fan of the series itself) but event fatigue seems to have set in for me and the Ultimate Universe is sucking pretty bad right now. Still, I'll always be into Cable and Deadpool and Brubaker can't seem togo wrong with Captain America (despite the lack of the titular character) and Daredevil. Oh and of course Astonishing X-Men when it comes out.
  7. Oh my God! And they didn't even show the solo...
  8. The Goddamn Batman beats all.
  9. Yeah, I think I've heard something like that before too. And I think MI3 would have made a lot more money in North America had Tom Cruise not revealed himself as a complete nutbar before the movie came out, I guess the Europeans and the rest of the global market are more forgiving about that sort of thing. I thought the movie was pretty good aatually, though I agree about Abrams being insanely overated just cause some people have a giant hard on for Lost. And I think the thing with the Alien series is to do with ticket prices rising over the time of the series.
  10. Why bother with facts when you can just make up bullshit out of thin air? From IMDB: Budget $150,000,000 (estimated) Gross $133,382,309 And keep in mind that 150M budget doesn't include advertising and marketing costs. Yeah, once the film was sold overseas and on DVD it finally broke even, but then again it's actually not common for a mainstream movie to completely lose money after all sources of income have been exhausted. from boxofficemojo Domestic: $134,029,801 33.7% + Foreign: $263,820,211 66.3% = Worldwide: $397,850,012 but whatever, it's not like that %66.3 of the gross matters... And I'd love to know where this 'the majority of movies out there make a profit in the end' opinion that floats around teh internets comes from because what I've heard from people who work/have worked at studios is the opposite, that most movies make big losses. (not necessarily saying that's correct either though).
  11. And let's not forget his 'gem' of a Superman script....
  12. I know it's a prequel. You don't honestly think that they'd use a plot point from a novel in a movie do you? I guess the 'time flows strangely in the nexus' is an explanation they could go with for why Kirk looks way older than when he died.
  13. Uh, isn't Kirk kinda dead for Shatner to appear in this movie?
  14. There's some of the comic-con discussion here.

    Wii

So what's the deal with Rock Band? Is this game coming out for Wii or are Harmonix just completely retarded? I mean, I can think of the following points off the top of my head: -by the time the game comes out the install base will probably have passed that of the 360 -since the Wii-mote handles the wireless, the peripherals would actually cost much less to manufacture (though needing a Wii-mote per instrument would end up costing the consumer more) -If this game really is going to be a system seller for people who don't even own consoles like people are speculating you'd think they'd want to get it out on the cheapest one. $800+ for it and a PS3 isn't exactly appealing. -It doesn't need to be a technical powerhouse at all in terms of graphics/control. -It's the fucking Wii! This is EXACTLY the type of game people want with this system! So did they just get caught off gaurd and severly underestimate the popularity of the Wii (like some other developers) and we'll see a Wii version coming out next year, or did they get cash thrown at them by Sony and Microsoft for exclusives, or is it a big conspiracy by Nintendo to hold the game down so they can sell more of the eventual Wii Music?
  16. Gamespot for reviews, IGN for previews/features/interviews, and Kotaku for pretty much everything.
  17. Batman Vs Hal was a really tough choice.
  18. Is nobody else going to point out the fact that Kevin Sullivan was formerly married to Cor Von's current wife as well???? Someone needs to find out where Sullivan was tonight.
  19. Yup, the end of Sinestro Corps was definately up there for me. And yeah that "I did it thirty-five minutes ago" is just so fucking classing. Still chilling to read that sequence now. The way it turns storytelling on its head is just amazing. I mean, the good guys unravel a mystery, find the bad guy’s secret lair corner him and get his final plan revealed only to have him nonchalantly mention it’s already over; it’s genius. Some of my other moments: -The splash page at the end of Infinite Crisis #1, also the Prime fight and Barry jumping out of the speed force to grab him. -Xorn revealed as Magneto This was amazing, even though it's been retconned away to not actually being Magneto. This was such a great payoff to all the mysterious Xorn stuff, especially that scene in the forest where one of the students comes across him and all the massacred U-Men. -Superman beat to death by Doomsday. I was pretty young and a HUGE Superman fan at the time so reading that issue was big.
  20. Captain America vs. Beast Batman vs. Green Lantern (Hal Jordan) Silver Surfer vs. Moon Knight Hulk vs. Wolverine Kyle Rayner vs. Phoenix Spider-Man vs. Nightwing Thor vs. Lobo Black Panther vs. Daredevil Wonder Woman vs. Multiple Man vs. Archangel
  21. She-Hulk 19, really? It was funny, but about as much as your average issue of Cable & Deadpool (which is a compliment). The passage of time as Jen testifies about all her 'partners' as She-Hulk cracked me up though. Anyways I gotta agree, Sinestro Corps is easily the best issue of the year so far. And not just because of the giant reveals, but the pace of the issue, building up that sense of dread, was phenomenal. But MAN, that final page was shattering. I gotta say though, my favorite part was the scene of all the rings of the dead lanterns who were guarding Prime go flying by. Just "Oh shit, he's out..." Return of Parallax was sweet too. I didn't really get the Anti-Monitor being there (though it was an amazing Holy Shit moment), but then I put together the Anti-Matter Universe/Qwardian connection that him and Sinestro both have. It's true though you really get the sense that the good guys can't possibly win this one There's an interview with Geoff Johns here. It looks like this storyline is going to stay confined to Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corps (with a couple one shots) which I think is cool. I think you can get a much better event without the need to go into all the needless crossovers that dilute the main storyline and fuck up the flow of other books in the process. However, I do think Superman should play some part in this since Kal-El definately has business with Cyborg and Prime (though Hal probably has a bigger beef with Cyborg than him). Man, this Sinestro War, the events in Flash, and what's coming up in JSA are really kicking the crap out of the (thouroughly underwhelming IMO) Countdown so far.
  22. Plus the 80 gig is lacking the hardware backwards compatibility, so you're losing out there too.
  23. Well, apparently they are THAT retarded...
  24. Fuck Pronger. That elbow was atrocious. Piece of shit deserves to be kicked out for a few after that. Fucking ref was standing right there too. I can't believe on HNIC Don Cherry was defending him with that 'oh he's a big guy and he was pushing him with his arm' shit.
  25. Tossing 'Working Class Hero' in to American Idol was really jarring, I dug it. And Kelly Clarkson got fat. I don't know where you guys are getting 'ZOMG she's gots a gr8 asssss!!1!1' from. She's great though.
