  1. Yeah, because putting the belt on Eddie would've been something smart, and would've made sense as a buildup for a bigger storyline. Man, if they put the title on Orton tonight, fuck the WWE up their sorry asses. And as far as Bradshaw goes, they better not even entertain that idea. Because that WOULD be the "Fingerpoke of Doom" for this company. No questions asked.
  2. Honestly, I can see this happening. Eddie was in his late 30s, and he is leaving behind a wife and 3 daughters that are going to go through adolesence without their father, and being in that siuation personally it something that is going to be very tough for them, no matter how you slice it. As far as Benoit goes, just what is going through his mind right now is the question. He just lost one of his best friends in the industry he works with as suddenly as this. For certain he is not in the best of moods right now, and this could outright kill his desire to Wrestle. Not to mention that he is basically already a 20 year veteran of the ring wars, Benoit is past his prime, physically (escpecially after the neck surgery) and he know this. Everytime he goes into the ring, he takes a risk, the risk that he may never come home to his children that are not even 6 years old yet. After all of this he may not want to do that them or to his wife. This may be it for Benoit, if he wins the title, he may just hold it to Wrestlemania and put over someone huge (make them for good, huge) in the match.
  3. Not to be an ass, but there's another thread talking about the impact of this shocker on the WWE. So we can keep all of that discussion seperate. Here is the discussion Again...RIP Eddie.
  4. Not to overstep any bounds here, but I think we should keep the other thread solely with reactions, and discussions about how he died. There's a whole other side to this story and maybe this thread is needed. If the mods deem otherwise, and they will decide to close it. I will definetely respect the decision. There really are no words for this news. The WWE has lost one of its greatest stars, workers, and examples of what a wrestler should be in the ring (if not outside the ring). He will missed by his fans, his friends, and family. But there is another side of the story, and that is a question I think we're all asking right now. What is the WWE going to do now? Now, any death of an active star is a big deal in its own way, but it's not everyday that you lose such a big star (ie Owen Hart), and it's even rarer when you someone that was supposed to carry a company (or brand in this case) just before they won a very big match (ie. David Von Erich) Unlike either of those deaths, neither one came at such a tulmoltis time when so much stuff that was detrimental to the company was happening at once. Just some of these are. - Austin walking out on the company, and all of the booking Chaos it caused - Christain not signing another contract - The announcing debacle on RAW - Batista getting injured. - The writing changes that are being discussed for Smackdown And this is just the stuff we've seen on the surface. Now you're adding the death of a particpant in the main event to determine a World Champion after the last champion was put out of action. What's worse was that he was probably scheduled to win the world Title, which makes more of a David Von Erich II than we would like it to. Now the discussion is what do you think is going to happen from here?
  5. HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT. I can't fucking beleive this. I'm at convention meeting right now, and I check this forum, (Wi-Fi for the Win) and I see this out of left field, and I didn't beleive it until the 3rd page when I saw the article. This shit just tears me up, and it leaves us all going what happened. This is the worst possible news right now for the WWE, with the major defection, Batista being injured, and now their new World Champion is dead. This can't help at all. But that is secondary, prayers and support are needed right now for his family, and his friends. RIP Eddie, you were a legend, you were one of the best.
  6. They had to include a SEC Conference game? If anything it should be the game between UK and Alabamba, because it'll just show the gap between Kentucky and the rest of that Conference. As for Memphis. I can see them justifying that ranking for these reasons. 1) Killer Freshman Class. 2) Killer Back Court 3) Calipari 4) Killer Schedule, which they could pull a UNLV and win through most of it, while winning the 17 games (14 conference, 3 Tournament) without anything close to a loss. The big question will be chemistry, and if they're mature enough. Memphis' eyes got far too big for their stomachs last year, and that was painfully obivious after the losing record going into CUSA play.
  7. Oh? You mean this. I saw this too, and it had me go "Oh Really?" ("O Rrly?" to all of you owl fan folks.) One of these isn't making the title game, but they also said that Wake Forest Vs. Illinois was also a National Title Preview Game, and look how that ended up. I do like that they gave some props to Northern Iowa and Old Dominion who are both supposed to be really good this year. Does anyone else think Virginia Tech is overrated? I've seen them on some Top 25 lists, along with Miami.
  8. (My Season is over, but I'm not going to quit) THURSDAY Boise State at Fresno State SATURDAY Maryland at North Carolina Arkansas at Mississippi Baylor at Missouri Kansas State at Nebraska N.C. State at Boston College Florida at South Carolina Central Michigan at Western Michigan Georgia Tech at Virginia LSU at Alabama (I thought I would never be cheering for my most hated University, ever. But if it means fucking with the BCS...some things are more important) Central Florida at UAB Stanford at Oregon State Colorado at Iowa State Auburn at Georgia Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Boise State/Fresno State game? 52 Tiebreak #2: How many rushing yards will Auburn's Kenny Irons have against Georgia? 134
  9. Show over. This piece of Garbage is worthless.
  10. Cornell acutally gave Syracuse a game tonight. They only lost by 5. And from all reports, it seems like "The Big Red" played a great game. This could be the beginning of something good for them. And it means that Syracuse definetely has to step it up in the Garden, or they're screwed.
  11. And so in the Coaches Vs. Cancer Tournament First Round. Cornell goes past The Red Flash of St Francis Pa. 75 - 54 Syracuse bops past the Wildcats of Bethune-Cookman 68 - 37 Syracuse and Cornell will play tomorrow in the Second Round, right on the Ocho (ie. ESPN U)
  12. You're joking with this comment, right? Please tell me you're joking. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh hell no. He made a long-ass post saying how the top 8 teams in the SEC could beat PSU, from the rational (LSU and Georgia) to the insane (Tennessee and South Carolina)... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Link me to this shit. I want to be entertained. I personally hate SEC Homers, and will laugh at all instances of their stupidity. And USF wouldn't beat WVU, cause of these two reasons. 1) West Virginia won't be sleeping at the wheel. 2) The Refs will give WVU any borderline call they got, cause they know if the Big East goes, they may be out of a job.
  13. Yeah, and since Duke is supposed to be so damn good...He's going to suck and ride that Cock all damn year. I think everyone who is not a Duke Fan is going to want to kick him in his face before the year is out.
  14. And thus, it is upon us. College Basketball is back, and the Season begins today. Now I know it may be November, but now is a good a time as any to start to the Season with the monthly threads for November and December (weekly or bi-weekly threads will begin in Janurary). The Curtain Jerker tonight is a Contest between Syracuse and Bethune Cookman, which also happens to be part of the first round of the Coaches Vs. Cancers Classic. So there you have it. I'm going to try to get a November National TV Schedule Up soon.
  15. You're joking with this comment, right? Please tell me you're joking.
  16. FRIDAY Toledo at Ohio SATURDAY Iowa at Northwestern Boston College at North Carolina Nebraska at Kansas Northern Illinois at Central Michigan Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan Kansas State at Iowa State Wake Forest at Georgia Tech Wyoming at Utah Wisconsin at Penn State California at Oregon Arizona State at Washington State Houston at Central Florida Miami at Virginia Tech (Go Va. Tiebreak #1: How many total points will be scored in the Pittsburgh/Louisville game? 60 Tiebreak #2: How many total yards will Penn State's Michael Robinson have against Wisconsin? 136
  17. No, no we don't. The BCS has already ruined one sport, lets not let it stink up the WWE any futher (cause they wouldn't know how to run with it.)
  18. Villanova for all purposes should be number 2, the only thing stopping them is Sumpter's injury. However, this Villanova team almost beat UNC without him, so one could Assume that with him, they could challenge Duke for the Pre-Season #1 (They already are my preseason number 1). Duke.....I will say this right now. They will not win the National Title. My reasoning, it comes down to these points. 1) Reddick is a choker. This guy cannot shoot when it's all on the line. Not to mention, Michigan State exposed him big time, last year. The forumla is out there, double team this guy, and he folds like a house of cards. 2) Sheldon Willams. Like Cabbage Boy said before....Just get this guy into Foul Trouble, and he's not a factor. 3) They're expecting FAR too much from the new players. All damn off season, I've heard how Josh McRoberts is the next Carmelo Anthony, and will be a big factor to leading Duke to a Title....But they forget one thing. Carmelo Anothony was not something that was predicted. What happened with Carmelo was a stroke of luck, that happened to click at the right time, to expect it again, is only setting up McRoberts to dissapoint. Looking at the OOC schedule, the NIT Pre-Season Tournament is going to be the first big test for Duke. We're going to see if they're worth the number 1 ranking.

  24. It's WCW 1997 all over again. Wicked undercard and tremendously shitty main event. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WCW main events were often DUDs to * matches. Jarrett-Nash, if they repeat their last match, will be ** or more. Still not a great main event, but it's not tremendously shitty. Plus, guys like Jarrett and Nash being in the main event are necessary evils. The undercard is almost guaranteed to be great. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But in the end, those "necessary evils" are what killed WCW, no matter how phenomenal the undercard was. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, you're right that it was one of the main reasons why WCW no longer exists with us today. Escpecially after the Starrcade 97 screwjob gone wrong, and the fingerpoke of doom. TNA can't afford to be reusing these guys too much. For BFG it's fine, but they definetely have to create new Main Eventers if they want the product to stay completely fresh.
  25. It's almost over. Thank God.
