It's funny how we spent a couple days last week arguing the cases for various MVP candidates, and now Kinsler, Youkilis and Quentin are all hurt and the Indians went back to sucking. Kind of changes the whole dynamic in that race heading into the final weeks.

Aww, now I feel bad. I like complaining about other posters, but I don't want them to actually read it and have their feelings hurt.

He thinks about how he can work in a reference to Circuit City in every single post. It's almost like a really bad gimmick at this point.

I sort of like the idea of a Book Folder, but that Book Recommendations thread in General isn't exactly booming with activity. But alas, if we have a fucking comics folder, we should probably do something for legitimate literature.

Isn't the general rule of thumb that you don't want to increase workloads by more than 20 innings a year when a pitcher is still in the "injury nexus"? It's not so much that pitching 200 innings can screw up a young guy, but what can hurt them is wearing out an arm that's not conditioned for that sort of grind. I know that BP has done study after study showing that a young pitcher can suffer irreparable damage by increasing innings too quickly, especially when they come at the major league level. EDIT: On the other hand, sometimes this shit gets taken too far out of hand. I just heard that Cashman wants Joba to pitch out of the bullpen AGAIN next year so as to limit his innings. As a Red Sox fan I love that they are going to keep their best pitcher in a role that minimizes his effectiveness, but as an observer of baseball it boggles my mind.

Good detective work, Sherlock.

Caught a little bit of Chris "Mad Dog" Russo's first show on Sirius this afternoon. I didn't listen for too long, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with what I heard. The whole production, including Russo's voice and demeanor, came off as so low rent. I've been told that his appeal is as a "typical sport's fan." The problem with that is the typical fan is a fucking moron. Is it too much to ask for insightful commentary from sports talk radio?

Graphics & Testing Grounds It'll fit in great between daily Maff chat updates and threads about what blacks do and do not like. -
While you made a million other great points that I agreed with, I kind of have an issue with this last (long) point. Wasn't it sort of dropped on them at the last minute that they wouldn't be taking the Sonics name and colors with them? Wasn't that a by-product of the suit to keep the team in Seattle? I just can't fathom that you'd spend a half-billion or whatever for a team and then come to the realization that you need a name and logo two months before the season starts.

If it's a picture of your penis, anywhere will suffice. I have to warn you though, it's been done before. -

He PM'ed me and revealed the awesome story. Billy Jack Haynes once got really drunk and shit on his kitchen floor. -
Dustin Pedroia is hitting .611/.650/1.278 with 7 rbis and 6 runs scored since being moved to the clean-up spot. He's also now 5th in VORP, and should surpass Aubrey Huff and Milton Bradley any day now. The little half-pint is slugging over .500 on the season!

The name is bad, the colors are generic and the logo looks like it fell out of the WNBA. Bad job all around.

I didn't ignore it at all, but this is not the forum for that discussion. Um, you are aware that you can discuss anything in this forum, right...? No... this forum is discuss chocolate sockets only. -
Post a Picture of Your Fridge

The arm and foot should be in the meat keeper. Jesus christ, don't you know anything about organizing a refrigerator? -
We don't even tolerate that at TSM... and we allow everything. Jesse Ventura is a really entertaining guy and a wonderfully engaging speaker. He could probably still have a decent political career if he wasn't batshit insane.

I'd be pissed if HTM slept on my couch. I paid a lot of fucking money for my couch. -
This is why I keep coming to TSM.

If he continues to hit like this (or something close to it... no one could keep this up) he won't be a dark horse, he'll win the thing. Not only are his numbers really good, but he looks like a balding 10-year-old. Sportswriters eat that shit up.

It actually happened during all three commercial breaks. I kind of think it was planned. Not sure why they'd do that though.

I think the streak was acknowledged at 13 for the match with Sid, but didn't become major storyline deal until the HHH match at X-7.

Chicago's the best team in baseball. I know the postseason is a crapshoot most of the time, but they've got to be the odds-on favorites to win this year.

Oh, and it looks like Josh Beckett will have some company at Dr. James Andrews' facility. JD Drew and Sean Casey are going to see him too. Wow, this season is just looking better and better. Next thing you know Clay Buchholz will be diagnosed with cancer. EDIT: Disregard the first paragraph. ESPNews screwed up. Casey and Drew are seeing other doctors, not Andrews. EDIT #2: Beckett is going to the DL, but the elbow is structurally sound, according to Andrews. Francona is confident he can pitch again this season.

I could be wrong on this, but doesn't service time in September not count? You know what... I have no idea. I just assumed that it did. You have to be on the 40-man to be eligible for a September call-up. Any idea why it wouldn't count? There were other statistics cited, including the 2 late-inning RBIs, the GIDPs and the fact that his WPA number this year is a measly .69. That's just ridiculously low for a guy who hits as well as he does. Whether or not A-Rod is clutch is irrelevant. He's arguably been the worst pressure performer in baseball this year and that's had a negative impact on this team's record. That has to be factored in to any argument that tries to assess value.
