Why does Grady Little always pull Brad Penny after 6 innings?
-
Ok here's how the game works..I'll name a band/artist, then the next person to post lists their five favorite songs by that band or artist, and names another band/artist for the person that posts after them to list their favorite songs from and the cycle continues like that. So I'll start it off - Led Zeppelin.

The Smackdown thread for June 2, 2006.
UZI Suicide replied to Open the Muggy Gate's topic in The WWE Folder
Because Vince doesn't care about Smackdown. In fact, I doubt he even knows what is happening on Smackdown half the time. So that allows the writers to do their job instead of having Vince and Steph do it for them. -
I would hope Grady Little has enough common sense to not move Nomar to a position where he'll be at a high risk of injury (i.e. any position other than first base). Izturis could see some time at 3B, or Furcal to 3B and Izzy to SS, or one at second, the other at SS, and Kent at 3B. Or he'll get traded.

This Dodgers-Phillies game is awesome. Dodgers were up 7-0 going into the 9th and the crowd has been chanting "We Want Gagne". They bring in Tim Hamulack instead and the crowd keeps cheering for the Phillies hits and booing when he gets an out.

Pearl Jam is going to be on VH1 Storytellers on July 1. -
I don't get it. They have four people from the Austin cast on there, who have never been in a RR/RW competition. How are they any less "Fresh Meat" than the other new people?
-
Hey, What's the song on Meeting People Is Easy when they're at the radio station and the visuals are a bunch of people walking up and down stairs, across a bridge and fading in and out of the scene?
-
Dodgers placed Jeff Kent on the DL and have called up another top prosect, this time it's Joel Guzman. He isn't starting tonight though. Also, Eric Gagne will be available to pitch out of the bullpen tonight.

I love how they're pushing a CHOP as such a devastating move.
-
They really should have waited till next week in Pittsburgh to announce Angle going to ECW. The ovation would have been huge.
-
So, Nitro debuting was pretty much...pointless?
-
EC DUB EC DUB EC DUB EC DUB I can't believe you posted that. You sick fuck.
-
Thanks a lot for posting this. I'm surprised about the Booker-Batista story as all the reports prior to this fight always seemed to paint Batista as such a good guy. And ECW being broadcasted live would be excellent. THAT'S RIGHT BITCH.
-
Well, they're coming out with Lost action figures & Locke is the set. Not that it 100% means he won't be killed off, but I doubt he will yet.
-
That ending was pretty weak. Ohhhh Desmond's GF has been looking for him? Lame. the only answer we really got was that the Island and the pushing of the button is important. Whoop-Dee. Good episode...but I was just a little disappointed. Now, the only thing I look forward to is what Jack and Kate and Sawyer will do to escape (they all gave each other a "look" at the end) and if Ecko and Locke are still alive.

Him getting screwed and then joining the ECW revolt is the only option using WWE-logic. Vince won't let his boy Cena go there and get embarassed. And he won't let RVD disgrace the WWE title by winning it and then trashing it. The only thing that can happen is for RVD to get screwed.
-
Eminem is a good one, forgot to mention him.
-
Not the most flattering pic of RVD. I've never touched photoshop in my life, and I know I could make a better DVD cover than that.

In the past we've had Elvis Presley, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin, Guns N' Roses, Nirvana, and probably a few I'm forgetting. Artists and bands who were just as popular with mainstream music fans who got all their music from top 40 radio as they were with the casual music fan, or the die-hard music fan who despises all the pop that fills radio and television. Obviously, while not EVERYONE liked these artists, they were generally loved by most music fans and were "THE" band of their time. They're still idolized today and made music that will be probably be played forever. But, is there anyone like that today? There doesn't seem to be any one band or artist that this generation of teenagers has latched onto like they did in the 80's when GnR came on the scene and blew the lid off of rock, or when Nirvana arrived a few years later and did the very same thing. One band I thought of was U2, as they're probably the biggest band in the world right now, although I don't really think they speak to this generation's young people. They're a popular band that spans a lot of time, but at the end of the day they'll probably be more associated with their earlier stuff. I posed this question to a bdudy of mine and he named me two bands - Green Day and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Green Day mostly because of "American Idiot". It is seen by many as them "selling out", but regardless, it's an album that 10-20 years from now when Rolling Stone and Spin Magazine are talking about the top records of this decade, American Idiot will likely be at the top, and most of the young people of today would probably agree. Plus, along with American Idiot, they've got two other albums that the majority of music fans would probably consider "classics" with Dookie and Nimrod. His reasoning for RHCP was that they have a fanbase that ranges from pre-teen girls to middle-aged people. They sell millions of records and are all over MTV, but still appeal to music fans who never listen to the top 40 pop stations. They've got two albums that are generally considered to be classics with BSSM and Californication, and possibly a third now with Stadium Arcadium. I don't agree with the Green Day assessment, although I can somewhat see the basis for the RHCP argument, but while I think they'll be a band that remains popular long after they're done playing, I don't ever see them reaching the status of the bands I listed. Who would you nominate? Are there even any bands that can be considered for this right now?

My current favorite lyrics.. Guns N' Roses - Silkworms Listen motherfuckers to this song that should be heard Thrown down in the gutter, it’s more than you deserve Kneeling fucking virgin, you know that's what you are Pussy for a maggot, isn't that a shock What can I do? With a bitch like you You know that it’s true All I have I ask of you I'll be dammed If it’s not true A bitch like you Get your head down in the sky Fucking little schemer got yourself a broken heart Syphilitic preachers baby I know who you are Parasitic demons sucking acid through your heart What can I do? With a bitch like you You know that it’s true All I have I ask of you I'll be dammed If it’s not true A bitch like you Pearl Jam - Unemployable He's got a big gold ring which says "Jesus Saves" And it's dented from the punch thrown at work that day, Where he smashed a metal locker where he kept his things After the big boss said you'd best be on your way Oh yeah... So this life is sacrificed Oh yeah... Jumping trains just to survive Well his wife and kids' asleep but he's still awake On his brain weighs the curse of thirty bills unpaid Gets up, lights a cigarette he's grown to hate Thinkin if he can't sleep, how will he ever dream Yeah... So this life is sacrificed To a stranger's bottom line I've seen the light Ohh ohh ohhh... Ohh ohh ohhhh... I'm scared of life Near to death Ohh ohh ohhh... Ohh ohh ohhhh... I've seen the light Scared of life Yeah... So this life is sacrificed Was a dream that had to die I've seen the light Ohh ohh ohhh... Ohh ohh ohhhh... And I'm scared alive Near to death Ohh ohh ohhh... Ohh ohh ohhhh... I've seen the light Scared alive Ohh ohh ohhh... Ohhhhhh Ohhh.. And I'm near to death Here to die Scared alive Near to death Here to die Scared alive... Stone Temple Pilots - Bi-Polar Bear So I'm letting it go again I'm halfway full on Left my meds on the sink today My head will be racing by lunchtime So I'm holding her hand again My palm sweats Hold on Think I've had too much coffee I'm manic as hell But I'm goin' strong Left my meds on the sink again My head will be racing by lunchtime Don't sleep behind the wheel at the stoplight Can't sleep behind the wheel as you're drivin' home You keep comin' down the hill as you're fallin' You keep fallin' from the hill as you're comin' down

Axl was on KROQ earlier today and the interview is here - http://www.kroq.com/kevinandbean/sounds.html --- Here's a recap of the interview: GN'R will headline KROQ's Inland Invasion 2006 on September 23rd at the Hyundai Pavillion at Glen Helen. Axl thinks the surprise acoustic show they did is the smartest thing he's done in ten years. He also mentioned how it's similar to when GN'R played at CBGB's in 1987. Getting attacked by Tommy Hillfiger at Plum last night was the most surreal thing that has happened in his life (Axl was attacked by Tommy because he moved Tommy's girlfriend's drink). Tommy was thrown out by security. He talked about the New York shows and says Izzy left because he had to get up early. And lastly: DJ: The cd is coming out later this year? Axl: Yes, absolutely. Recent Def Jam signee Nas will deliver his first album for the label in late September. The rapper made the announcement last night (May 18) while performing on the first leg of labelmates the Roots’ two-night stand at New York's Radio City Music Hall. The album is titled "Hip-Hop Is Dead,” according to a Def Jam representative, who also confirmed the September release. Nas capped off his roughly 15-minute set by pronouncing, “I'm working hard for y’all. I got an album coming out in September.” Def Jam president Jay-Z added Nas to the label’s roster in January, two months after the pair mutually dissolved their longtime feud. As previously reported, the new disc will be one of two albums to be jointly marketed by Def Jam and Columbia, Nas’ previous label. During a live chat on the Roc-A-Fella Web site in February, Jay-Z said that plans were underway to begin working on the project. Black Eyed Peas leader will.i.am also told Billboard.com that he was scheduled to record with Nas. "Hip-Hop Is Dead” will be the follow-up to 2004’s “Streets Disciple,” which peaked at No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 694,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In his 11 years with Columbia, Nas' catalog has sold 12 million units. The Roots concert also featured Common, Talib Kweli, Big Daddy Kane and saw a brief cameo from comedian Dave Chappelle, who billed many of the same artists for his 2004 Block Party in Brooklyn, N.Y. Tonight's second round of performances will feature Erykah Badu, Mos Def, J. Davey and Angelique Kidjo. Source: billboard.com
