It's the ABC site carrying the AP story posted earlier.

What he said.

"A-ha! HHH jobbed on SmackDown! because it's not his show. He's such a politician keeping himself looking strong on RAW."

wait, what? a 7-match RAW?
-
Well, this week is the equivalent of the Halloween episode of 'The Simpsons,' it's non-canonical and will not be referred to again.
-
Looks like they decided to sit on the World title question until next week. All for the best, I guess. Gives them more time to figure out what would be best.
-
Hey, they might not have been in bikinis or anything. They deserve to be on the card, too.
-
Gee, that report is a bit biased. Whomever followed up Benoit would have a tough row to hoe.
-
That's because SmackDown didn't exist until August 1999.

When did this take place? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> August 1996.

Batista's expected to be out 4-6 weeks. He can't just make like Hulk Hogan 1993 and not defend the title; something's got to main-event Armageddon, after all.
-
I don't think Chavo "deserves" the title, though I certainly wouldn't mind him winning it. Besides, I highly doubt he would accept a sympathy reign. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, that's all it would be, pretty much. It would be 'Kerry von Erich, NWA Champion' all over again. I'm not gonna sugarcoat that, I'm just saying it is a viable option.
-
Quite frankly, if they crown a new champion tonight, I'd put the announcement/photos up on WWE.com so if people don't want to watch the Eddie tribute show they can just watch the wrestling content from the show. That way, people can't point fingers and say that the title switch was a cynical attempt to boost ratings.
-
1. Because 4-6 weeks means Batista would miss all the remaining WWE PPVs for 2005. Unless you want to draw SD vs. RAW out for another month of storyline, you can't just not have an active world champion in this day and age. Something's gotta headline Armageddon, after all. 2. Having one of Eddie's friends (relatives?) win the title in a tribute to him would be a feel-good moment to end tonight's Supershow and could cement a new main-eventer to take Eddie's place in the main event hierarchy on SD. (Of course, no one can take Eddie's place in terms of influence to this business, but you know what I mean.)
-
probably not too much as remember that Brian died the mrning of a ppv and they went on with the show and didnt get too m uch backlash then <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Surprising, especially when you consider he replaced Pillman's match with a midget comedy match.

If WWE is going to pull the trigger on giving Rey a World title, today is the only time they're going to have a chance to do it, in my opinion. A heel cannot walk out of Minneapolis tonight as World Heavyweight Champion. Bear in mind, this will be the last match on the card and the culmination of this Eddie tribute show. There are only three people who deserve to get the title tonight: Rey Misterio Chris Benoit Chavo Guerrero

Yeah, I think the obvious choice is to give Benoit the win as a tribute. Have him beat Mysterio in a singles match, then set up Booker-Benoit for SSeries. Don't mention the Undertaker thing again until next week's show. Like the last time this happened, just have him not appear until next week when it's business as usual again. Also, quietly give Ken Kennedy Eddie's spot on the SSeries team.

It was definitely a work. Just because Todd didn't know it was going to happen doesn't mean that it wasn't planned. They probably didn't tell him so he could react appropriately and not accidentally spill the beans.

Worst excuse to get out of a job/angle?
Slickster replied to Epic Reine's topic in General Wrestling
Well, that and almost getting killed in the Elimination Chamber by Rob. I mean granted, it was purely accidental, but I'm sure its another reason for HHH holding a grudge. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Elimination Chamber came after the RVD-HHH feud. -
The 'international marketing' stipulation was breached due to the Internet (wwf.com), which was ruled to indeed be 'marketing the WWF name overseas.'

Ever Wonder How Scripted The Shows Are Now?
Slickster replied to The Niggardly King's topic in The WWE Folder
Couldn't that refer to the set taking up 30% of the arena's floor space/seats, not to the gate itself? Especially since this script was obviously made BEFORE the show (before they could know the attendance). -
If I had to venture a guess, I would say it's because the TTiT match you saw was not converted from the mastertapes but was ripped from the 'Hulk Still Rules' DVD, which was when that match was originally converted to digital format. Since production on that DVD had begun before the 2002 name change, its contents could feature 'WWF' uncensored.
