  1. Re: Sid/Sting as the NWO member instead of Hogan. The angle is still a success, but not to nearly the degree it was with Hogan. For a while, it was a great idea, well-executed, and entertaining. Hogan gave it the name recognition to draw a casual fan into it. With someone other than Hogan, it makes WCW lots of money. It does not revolutionize wrestling or Monday nights.

CNet gave it a decent review, 6.6 editors, 8.1 users. The price can't be beat. Go for it.
  3. He's home in 71, which, from what I'm seeing thus far, is going to be a very good score today.
  4. Just because I still talk like him whilst drunk
  5. It's not an ipso-facto rip off, but it certainly is by comparison (it's typically 3 for 595 in Canada). Oh well. As VX said in CWDWAT, our beer makes up for it.
  6. We had a special buy on an RCA LCD a few months ago at my Wal*Mart. We wanted to display it, but had no free component cables on our tv wall, so we ran it off an upconverting DVD. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between an upconverting and a legitimate 1080 broadcast, but, yeah. It's all a personal thing. HDMI cables can realistically be had for 30 or 40 bucks, if that. Another option would be to try a Gamespot and pick up a MadCatz, what with the PS3 and 360 Elite available.
  7. That's awesome.
  8. I posted my picks the day the Crocodile Hunter died last year...So let's say early September. There's too many medium-big names unsigned before we can really get a thread going.

Not really....the greater detail wouldn't be as noticable on a television that size, but not only that, HD set-top boxes, from the selection I've seen, are fairly bulky compared to SD ones, which seems contradictory to what you're getting at. (Not neccessarily an issue, it all depends on your preference). A variable to that would be how many channels are available in HD over-the-air in your area, but again, not a noticable difference. Ask the guys at the store you're planning on purchasing it from if you can see what an NTSC broadcast looks like (or even a DVD) and then ask to see a HD show. How feasible it is is dependable on the store's setup, but just something to consider. The Wal*Mart I work at, as well as a prior job in the field, it wouldn't be that hard to switch some cables around, especially on a 19 or 24 inch tv. The good news is nearly all LCD's have VGA inputs, and as I learned from this site a few months ago, S-Video as well will do the trick.
  10. How about amateur Rory McIlroy? No bogeys, three under for his first round. And he's eighteen years old! Although Rose was 17 and took the 36-hole lead a few years ago, McIlroy is still pretty impressive.....When did Rose do it? Here in 99, or Birkdale in 98?
  11. A buddy of mine used to always brag about how good his 'pulled pork sandwiches' were. I always laughed.
  12. I still can't underline enough how much more sense to me an upconverting player makes.
  13. This. Ditto for Buffalo and Philly.
  14. I like that theory, but I'm not sure it'll hold up altogether. It might help out HD DVD at the beginning, but there was a time when no one knew what a DVD was either and people refused to buy them.
  15. Welcome back, Nskie.
  16. If it's of any comfort, Leena had her in the death pool.
  17. Hey, my grandfather said during beers on Monday that he thinks this is the Leafs year. The only year I've ever not heard him say this since 1989 (!) was last season. Hell, I was on board for a while, I did a column in college about how I thought it was Toronto's year....and this was before Nolan, Wesley, Gilmour came back.
  18. Just thought I'd share this, since Leaf fans seem excited again
  19. I had heard a different version -- that he was kicked out of the locker room by the Triple Threat (version 2.1) when he was trying to get backstage to visit Justin Credible in '97 or '98. Storm, Candido, Bigelow? I'd buy that....My memory of the Triple Threat is a little hazy, but inserting Shane Douglas into that equation only makes your story more believable.
  20. But you're not Oakland... Fuck. Baron MSN'd me of my mistake, I was hoping no one would notice. I'll have to edit the fuck out of that statement. Raiders in the playoffs? Yeah.
  21. I'm sure you'll all remember this one: 4:50 ish For how forgettable most of the WWF in 99 was, Vince as a face was pretty good.
  22. I've taken it down to the wire the last two years. St. Louis is getting to the playoffs this year.
  23. I'm not so sure either of these would drastically change history. If anything, the WWE switch gave them some national publicity in print and on the news, and gave them some new marketing angles. Triple H was jobbed for a few months, but he did have the IC title 6 months later, and one of those jobs was to his best friend, in a Raw main event, in a early MOTY contender.

What's this you say about them auctioning off the analogue system?
  25. I stumbled across an article that described a bunch of ECW wrestlers kicking Scott Hall from the locker room during his brief stint there in 2000; Anyone remember this? Whom were the wrestlers? Why was it done? The only ones I could think of with heat would be probably Sandman...98 WCW. I can't think of anyone else who would have crossed paths with him in another promotion, save maybe Pierre Oulette, Raven (and that's a stretch, given the time frame), and Justin Credible (and he was alright with the Kliq, wasn't he?)
